This will be our families first visit to WDW and we couldn't be more excited. We have only done a very small waterpark here in Australia and I was really hoping some of you Vets could jump in with some tips and tricks for making our Blizzard Beach visit a smooth one.

We plan to be there at opening and imagine that the kids will get tired after around 4 hours or so.

The big gusher thing will be out, we would all be too scared for that one but I am pretty sure we would be keen to give everything else a go.

I would love to hear any little tips to help with the lines and an overall great day.

Thanks...

I recommend getting there a few minutes before the park opens and trying to get on the rides you want to do most before it gets too crowded.

I was at BB this past thursday and the park became super crowded around 11:00am, wait times became super long :(

IMO, Downhill Double Dipper always seems to have a long wait, so try doing this early in the morning. The same is true for Teamboat Springs (the family raft ride).

The Toboggan Racers and Storm Slides are really fun but the wait is never too long, so you could probably save this for mid-late morning.

As the corwds come in, you could always go to the wave pool or ride the lazy river. Both are fun and hold alot of people!

Arrive 30 minutes before park opening.

They will hold you at a rope just before you cross the bridge.

Cross the bridge, bear to your left and down the first concrete path to the lounge chairs under the shade trees.

Hustle back up the concrete path and take the "ski lift" and do the family ride while there is no line.

The rest of the day is up to you!

My recommendation is if you are staying on-site visit on a day with EMH's. As the summer winds down there are less each month. Arrive when EMH's begin, usually 8:00 and enjoy a line free park for an hour. If you are not staying on-site, avoid the days with EMH's. Also, wear some kind of water shoes. The ground will be HOT!

BTW-I love Australia! We were there on our honeymoon 19 years ago and I can't wait to return some day.

Thanks so much for the replies. I don't think there were any EMH days when we are going to be there, but will double check that. So the family raft ride thing should be first up, sounds good to me. I think that would be a perfect way to kick off the water park.

Need to work out what other things we are super keen on, the Downhill Double Dipper sounds fun.

Yes our country is very beautiful. We are very lucky. My family is in love with the US at the moment haha. We were there in Sept last year and are going again this year. It could be that we are in love with Disney the most though LOL.

I would try to get there 15-30 minutes early. Not much advice... I have only been there once and I had a wonderfull time. If you are going to go on Summit Plummet, you go very fast and get a wedgie at the end. Enjoy!:)

Good tip about getting there early. We have a 8am reservation at 1900 Park Fare so I'm not sure how early we will actually be able to get here for the 10am opening. May have to make the reservation earlier I think.

If you will be splitting up bring a notebook and pen and watch and leave them at your chair. When one group goes to ride something write the time and where you're going so you don't waste time trying to track each other down later.

That is such a brilliant idea. Love it. Thank you so much.

How old are your kids? Check out the Ski Patrol area, it's great for kids about 4-11 or 12. There's also Tyke's Peak for younger kids.

If you can get to the park before rope drop and close to the very front of the crowd waiting, try to talk to the CM stationed there. They pick a child to "test" a slide-meaning the first kid down basically opens the park. They usually try to find someone between 8-12 years old who hasn't ever been there before. Don't beg to do it cause it won't usually work. Tell the kids to just be friendly and ask questions about the slides etc. They will have a blast even if not chosen, though.

Also try the bag of donuts sometime while in the park. They are awesome.

Does anyone know where the walking paths are to get up to the top of the mountain if you aren't using the ski lift?

You are going to have so much fun, I loved this waterpark! If there are still photopass photographers in the waterpark, take advantage. They took the BEST pictures of my kids!
I went in Sept 2 yrs ago & the only long line I can remember was for the chair lift. We usually just walked up instead because the line was always long.

There are stairs that lead up the mountain toward the back end of the Ski Patrol. They are very hot stairs.
