Even thought we have 5-day PHP's with 2 options, DH thinks he only wants to visit one water park during our April (!!!!) trip. Which would you choose for us and our DD's ages 7 & 6?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated--we've never been to either park, so it's all new to us!!
TIA!
Katie

My favorite is Blizzard Beach. More slides. I love the family tube ride as well. I really don't know anything about the kiddie areas of either so can't compare those.

We haven't tried Blizzard Beach yet, but my family loves Typhoon Lagoon! In fact, we'll be visiting TL on our trip in July! There's a nice kiddie area in back, and my little one enjoyed playing at the end of the wave pool!

You can't go wrong with either water park, but Blizzard Beach is our favorite for the reason listed above, the slides!! The kiddie area is called Tikes Peak and it's really fun for little ones. There are slides in the play areas with nice, soft padded landing areas.
Lots of shady areas to rest, too....

Blizzard Beach is my choice. As the others have said this park has great slides. DD7 and DS11 just love it. The theming is really "COOL" too.

I vote for Blizzard Beach, I love the chairlift. It takes you up to some of the slides and the family tubes. Believe me if the DH had to do stairs I never would have gotten him in the tubes. And occasionally my knee acts up so the lift was really useful. Plus any walking I can save helps with my park endurance.

I really appreciate your replies--thanks a lot! Based on what you guys told me, I'm going to suggest Blizzard Beach as our chosen water park. The only thing I was really curious to see at Typhoon Lagoon was the place where you get to swim with the sharks. Has anyone done this, and is it as cool as it sounds???

TL's Shark Reef is cool, but is isn't very large, the whole trip is over in about 8 minutes if that. I't basically a U-shaped tank with a slight current to keep you moving towards the end. The water is cold, (I think to keep the sharks less active) The sharks are small. It was interesting and I might like to do it a second time, but only so my DH could take my picture from the viewing area.

Have a great trip. I'm right behind you.

NOw see, this is why opinions are so great! LOL My family LOVES Typhoon Lagoon. much better than Blizzard Beach. My children are about your kids age, 8,7 and 4. We were disappointed when we went in Dec and Feb and TL was closed for refurbishment and we had to settle for BB. Don't get me wrong, we do like BB but we have more fun at TL. The wave pool is bigger and the waves are bigger. However we do like the family raft ride at BB but do not like waiting in line for the lift.

We tried BB for the second time this Jan. TL was closed for rehab in Jan. We liked BB but TL is our favorite.

My family also loves TL. We always go to both water parks, but TL is the we go to the most (we have PAP's). They love the wave pool and will play in there for hours at a time. They like the swimming with the sharks even though it is a short swim. We usually swim in there two or three times in a row to get the full experience. We also love the lazy river type tube ride. It's much better than the one at BB. The tube and slide rides are much tamer here (right down my alley) and the waits don't seem to be as bad as the ones at BB. The wave pool is awesome. You can ride the waves.

BB has a better family raft ride hands down. We love this one. The slides are higher and faster, but have more lines. There is an area for tweens to play in (smaller kids play in there too) that has lots of fun slides, a pretend ice berg bridge area with a rope to hold onto to get across, and a bar to swing down and drop into the water. Again, the lines are long to do these things.

You can't go wrong with whichever one you choose!

We've done both and my family- DH, DD's and I prefer BB. We like TL, too- but BB is our fav.
Summit Plummet!!

When my 15 year old son was 6 we went to Typhoon Lagoon and he was knocked over by a wave in the wave pool. His back was badly scraped by the cement bottom (very rough) and this required lots of bandaging and left scarring for a few years. Needless to say I will not be going back. But, we love Blizzard Beach.

It is hot in April and I think once he hits one water park you might not have a hard time convincing him to try the other.:smooth:

BB is our fav but we do both on every trip.

Hey hockeymom,
You make a great point! I think we'll go to BB first, and I have a free day built in at the end of the week that we could use for TL even if it's only for a half-day. We won't be going back for a few years, so I'm not too concerned about keeping that 1 plus option.

Looks like we're going about the same time--how excited are you????!!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

We are wayyyy to excited. We have a few newcomers on this trip and I can't wait to show them what we have been doing the past few years.

Have a great time!
