Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon?

We tend to stick to the theme parks when we visit because we have water parks around home we can go to during the summer, but we purchased a package that includes a free one day pass to one of the water parks. We are going in mid-May and depending on the weather and how busy our days get to be, we may go at least check out one of them for a few hours. Any suggestions on which water park is best out of the two? Also, what time do you find is best to visit the water parks - I'm assuming afternoons are the busiest? I think our other alternative may be mini-golf. Has anyone had a good experience with that and where is it even at? It'll be just me and my DD's, age 12 & 9, so mini-golf may be a little easier to manage but it may be pretty warm as well. I'm open to any and all advice on which is best! Thanks!

Overall I like Blizzard Beach the best because it has more slides, a big family slide, and a better lazy river. But the single best attraction in either is the Wave Pool at Typhoon Lagoon imo.

The question of which water park is better has been asked here probably hundreds of times,I think of all the responses Typhoon Lagoon is considered the overall better park. When I was younger and only cared about going on Summit Plummet I used to consider BB the better park, today I think its TL,it still has many good and thrilling slides and I prefer the atmosphere and layout of the park.Plus the wavepool is better and BB has nothing like the Crush n Gusher water coaster.TL did have a really lousy family raft ride but they just built another much better one(Miss Adventure Falls). The lazy rivers at both parks are good but the wave pool at BB is pretty boring.I also prefer how TL feels more spread out,at BB you have to repeatedly go up the same set of stairs as the slides are all up the mountain. There is the chair lift but that has a wait and only reaches certain slides.I do believe BB has a better kids area but overall TL is better.

Yes, I'd suggest doing a quick search here for "Typhoon Lagoon" or "Blizzard Beach", you'll find endless threads on the topic. Short summary...

It's basically 50/50. They're both spectacular, we've been to them dozens of times each. They both have family tube slides, lazy rivers, "big" slides, kid areas, etc... So in many respects they're quite similar, just with different themes. Key differences:

Wave pool - TL has HUGE (i.e. awesome, IMO) waves. They're very powerful and a lot of fun. BB has small constant waves, like bobbing in the ocean.

TL has Crush N Gusher, a sort of "roller coaster" slide group. BB does not.

BB family tube can hold 6, TL has two family tubes, holding 4 each

BB has a well organized area for younger kids, Ski Patrol. Your kids are at the upper age for it. TL does not have this, but does have kid area.

You won't go wrong either way.

One advantage of blizzard beach is that there's a mini golf course right there, so you can do both.

Also keep in mind whichever water park you choose, the bus transportation to get there can be a pain in the neck. That being said, IMO either park is well worth a visit & I think your family will have a blast!
