Hi! I am debating between the two water parks for our trip in June. It will be me, husband, and 9yo son. Any opinions on which you like better and why? Also, is it better to go to a water park on a week day versus the weekend? Thanks for any input!
For us, choosing one over the other would come down to these unique differences ...
Blizzard Beach -- Summit Plummet (if daredevils), Ski Patrol Training Camp (for tweens, Fahrenheit Drop has a 5ft height limit), Teamboat Springs
Typhoon Lagoon -- Shark Reef (if comfortable with cold water and breathing with snorkel), Crush 'n' Gusher, Surf Pool
Our family has done both parks the last 2 years, however, this year the kids are choosing Blizzard Beach.
Snorkeling was a little difficult to do and they didn't care for the cold water. Recommend wearing a life vest even if a good swimmer to help keep floating and focus more on breathing as well as a little warmer ;-) The Surf Pool can definitely get intense. But, Crush 'n' Gusher is a lot of fun with 3 different tracks so that will be missed. Tropical theming of park is great.
Teamboat Springs is definitely the better family raft ride, will do multiple times. They enjoyed Summit Plummet (Slush Gusher was enough for me) and Ski Patrol when they were small enough to do the drop. After skipping the first year, we made sure to do Downhill Double Dipper but wouldn't do again as it isn't unique enough to justify the extremely long wait.
Definitely recommend going on a weekday versus the weekend. Park opening is best to beat the long lines at the main slides and to find a "home base" in the shade.
