Hi! I am debating between the two water parks for our trip in June. It will be me, husband, and 9yo son. Any opinions on which you like better and why? Also, is it better to go to a water park on a week day versus the weekend? Thanks for any input!

Personally I like BB better (as do 3 of my kids). We really enjoy the family raft ride, and I like that I don't feel like I have to hover near my kids in the wave pool. But, my thrill seeking DH and DS11 much prefer TL with the intense wave pool, crushin' gusher, etc.

We like to go on week days just because the locals will be in school.

Why not do both parks in a single day? When I was there last week, they had a bus running between the two parks and that's what we did. I'm under the impression it was a trial run for this bus route so check into it before you assume they'll have buses between the two when you are there.

If you have to choose one, I would take a look at what each park offers and let your son decide. He may want Typhoon Lagoon because of the the snorkeling with the sharks.

For us, choosing one over the other would come down to these unique differences ...

Blizzard Beach -- Summit Plummet (if daredevils), Ski Patrol Training Camp (for tweens, Fahrenheit Drop has a 5ft height limit), Teamboat Springs

Typhoon Lagoon -- Shark Reef (if comfortable with cold water and breathing with snorkel), Crush 'n' Gusher, Surf Pool

Our family has done both parks the last 2 years, however, this year the kids are choosing Blizzard Beach.

Snorkeling was a little difficult to do and they didn't care for the cold water. Recommend wearing a life vest even if a good swimmer to help keep floating and focus more on breathing as well as a little warmer ;-) The Surf Pool can definitely get intense. But, Crush 'n' Gusher is a lot of fun with 3 different tracks so that will be missed. Tropical theming of park is great.

Teamboat Springs is definitely the better family raft ride, will do multiple times. They enjoyed Summit Plummet (Slush Gusher was enough for me) and Ski Patrol when they were small enough to do the drop. After skipping the first year, we made sure to do Downhill Double Dipper but wouldn't do again as it isn't unique enough to justify the extremely long wait.

Definitely recommend going on a weekday versus the weekend. Park opening is best to beat the long lines at the main slides and to find a "home base" in the shade.

Thank you all for the tips! I definitely think we'll go on a week day :thumbsup2 Are there discounts on the water park tickets for Florida residents or Annual Passholders?

I'd suggest a weekday as well...even for the summer. The parks are definitely different experiences. Typhoon Lagoon is most known for its wave pool and it IS fun. The theming there is like a tropical island with lots of palm trees/greenery, sand. They do have slides and a lazy river .
Blizzard Beach has more of the thrill type/higher slides that my older crew really enjoys. Its a bit much for me so I find a shady spot and read. They also have a very nice toddler area. Be sure to have some flip flops for walking around BB cause that concrete gets HOT if its a hot day.

Swim shoes are also useful in the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon. The bottom is a fairly rough texture. They would need to be the fitted swim shoes specifically. Flip Flops won't stay on!

I believe the discounts are for after 2 - we typically add the Water Parks and More option to our tickets. You get the same number of options as you have park ticket days (ex 4 days = 4 options). This would make both Water parks and some mini golf possible for the price of one Water park visit at regular price.

In my opinion my favorite water park is BB. One reason is because of the wave pools, my family enjoys the one at BB more because there aren't massive waves coming out at you like at TL. Also the family raft ride at BB is better than the one at TL. The one at TL you have to carry your own raft and its much sorted too.

Thanks for all of the input! I never knew you could hop between the 2 water parks :) There's a lot to think about and I think the kiddo shall make the final decision ;)

I have avoided Typhoon Lagoon since I went with my (then) 8 year old daughter. She was knocked down by the huge wave pool and dragged along the bottom, came out with bloody knees. The First Aid attendant said it happens often there. Spent the next three days visiting first aid stations in the parks to get new bandages. Blizzard Beach is kinder to smaller kids. IMHO, Typhoon Lagoon is best enjoyed by older kids or thrill seekers.
