Our December trips have usually been chilly. With that experience in mind, I was surprised to notice that Blizzard Beach is open during December. Has anyone braved the water park when it is cold? How was it?

we were at Blizzard beach in December of 01...

nothing like laying out, working on your tan, listening to Chirstmas carols! hehehe

it was a very warm December when we went - I think that particular day was near 90 and that's why we went. Although, I heard Dec 02 was frigid.

it's hit or miss I guess. you never know what the weather will be like down there until you get down there - and it's just like New England - if you don't like it, wait 5 minutes, it'll change. :)

According to the disney website, Blizzard Beach is going to be closed this Dec. and only Typhoon Lagoon will be open.

Wrong.

According to the WDW site TL closes on the 13th and BB opens on the 14th.

The answer to the OP question really depends on what each person's defintion of cold is. We would be happy with 70+.

We went to TL in late December last year and the temp was around 68 degrees. That was pretty cold. The water temp was around 78 I think, so you stayed in the water. The good thing about it was it wasn't very crowded.

I've been there in December and the weather was warm. I know there have been times when it has been too cold to swim. I am from the New England area so anything above 70 would suit me fine.

O.K...What's the deal? some websights say BB will be open in December and some say it won't! Which is it? Do we assume the disney sight is right? we've been to TL a few times but never to BB and I think it would be great fun!

Trust the source. The official Disney site says BB opens the 14th. I believe the water park rehabs happen every year. They purposely open and close the parks so at least one is open at all times. TL closes the 13th according to the same Disney site.

Just think of how clean everything will be on that first day at BB. It should be like freshly fallen snow.

RATS! looks like I'm gonna miss out on BB again! we will be there from 12/3 to 12/11....I guess I'll just have to have fun at TL again (providing it's warm enough!) I sure hope it's a warm winter! Have fun for those who get to go to BB!

We like TL best anyway, but I think it would have to be at least the high 70s to be comfortable for me.

I hope when they rehab BB they put in some more shade! We went this summer and it was blistering.

Cheers :)

Please do not climb on the snow!!

*whoops, sorry, a flashback*

The water parks have heated pools, so the water will be warm. If it's chilly ot, though, walking between rides will be cold! Especially up on top of the mountain, with the wind blowing. Personally, I wouldn't go unless it's above 80 degrees. But then again, it's 80 degrees here and I'm wearing a sweater because it's cold out!

Hey Katerkat: You must be a really cool person huh? actually, I'm from Michigan so if it hits in the 70's in the winter I'm breaking out in a sweat! Hope you get to go to DW after your son's (?) graduation and have a great time! Helen:wave:

No, just in a different place. :rotfl: When I lived up north, 80 was a heat wave, but down here, it's a cold front! It's my darling husband's graduation from pilot training with the Air Force, and thanks! I really hope we get to go too!
