I am thinking of doing a solo trip to wdw in March. Has anybody gone to the water parks solo? I am in my 40s and didn't know if it would be worth it for me to go. Will I look foolish going on the inner tube rides and how rough are they? Also, how cold is the water?

The water parks are a lot of fun, and you won't look foolish. The tube rides are nice and smooth.

To paraphrase, "ride the tubes like no one is watching"

We keep the water in all the slides and pools around 80F (27C) except for Shark Reef which does not have filters, pumps or heaters. What you want is a day that will be bright and sunny and preferably not windy.

If you go on a day that is heavily overcast you will not be able to take advantage of any radiant heating (from the sun) or on a windy day (especially with a dry wind from the North) you will get hit by wind chill.

But a day with the highs in the mid-50s or above which is sunny and calm most people (at least from Northern climates) should be comfortable.

I did Blizzard Beach during my solo trip last year. I enjoyed it. No one cared that I was on my own, and I actually had fun chatting it up with different people in the park. Have fun & enjoy yourself!

I would do the water parks again!! I actually did both on my last trip, but i really enjoyed Typhoon Lagoon the best. Its just very tropical, and i liked the lazy river and i especially loved shark reef!!! I did it 3 times in a row!!! It was so awesome! and its FREE!!! Now, i cant speak about any of the rides, cause i didnt do them... i just enjoyed the lazy river!

One hint... is that when you get there and you mark your spot (pickin out a chair)... bring a colored towel from home....its funny when you go back to find your seat all you see is a sea of white towels!! So having a colorful one helps! and also nobody touched my stuff....

Go for it and have a good time. I've gone to the water parks numerous times solo in December. Will be returning this December, too.:sunny:

I'm also in my forties & I was just there in Sept 1wk on site solo, and then a second wk offsite with relatives. Had a 10day MYW with park hopper/waterparks... I went to Blizzard Beach 2x solo, Typhoon Lagoon 1x solo and once w/ the crowd.

It was great! And funnily enough, there were a lot of people that seemed solo, but many were actually just doing a slide that the rest of their crowd weren't doing/had done enough/were taking a break, etc.

People in the lines tended to have open conversations around, so that was pretty nice.

I absolutely had a great time at both parks, both solo and with people!

Preferred Blizzard Beach for the rides and for bobbing in tube in the wave pool. And the chairlift was great--single rider line!

But Typhoon Lagoon's Shark Reef was amazing.. there were people jumping out because it was too cold, but we found the water just normal temp--in Jul we usually go swimming in the Atlantic--icebergs always in sight.... that is very cold water then!

I don't know what temps are like in March, so that part I can't comment on.
But other than that: Go! Enjoy your trip!

Judy, almost no rides were as bad as they looked, although in Blizzard Beach, there was one where you went face first on a mat down thru twisting covered tubes... water constantly in face/eyes/nose... I did that ride by mistake!
The inner tubes are huge, meant for a huge variety of body shapes/sizes, and they all have handles.
Woo Hoo!

I wasn't technically solo, but on my 41 b-day my BF and I went to Blizzard Beach. She just wanted to float all day and did not want to do ANY of the water rides. I said "see 'ya"! and did Summit Plummit, Crusher Gusher, and all of the other rides!! I didn't see her all day. So I'm sayin' that you go!!:thumbsup2 Enjoy yourself!!:goodvibes I was at first kind of upset with my friend, but let me tell 'ya, I had a BLAST!!! You can too!!
