Blizzard Beach: Any Particular Touring Plan??

Hey all,

Gonna be designating some of our upcoming trip to have some time over at Blizzard Beach. I’ve heard it is preferred to be there for opening, to which we plan to be arriving around then. I assume there’s not exactly the same kind of mad rush craze at rope drop like the theme parks have...so, would we be alright for showing up around 10 AM opening time or slightly after? It’ll be a Thursday.

Is there any sort of suggested touring plans for the attractions at Blizzard Beach? Like which slides should be hit first, where to head at certain portions of the day, etc.

We will probably be leaving by 3 PM, if not a bit sooner.

If you want seats in a particular area, I’d be there before it opens. Maybe 20 minutes or so before?
When we went we reserved a cabana so we wouldn’t have to worry about seats/shade. We did get there at opening and watched the crowd scramble for seats. This was at spring break though, so it might have been more crowded than when you are going.

I don't know about BB but we went to TL in October and arrived at 11 we had to problems finding spots to seat and there went really any lines for any of the attractions. It was a great day!

We love the water parks, go all the time. They are never all that crowded, even in the midst of summer. You only need to be there 5 minutes before opening. You'll have zero problems finding chairs in the shade. Usually, "rope drop" is only a hundred people, maybe 200, if that.

As for what to hit first, the "big" slides are where you want to go. You can do them as many times as you want with no wait in the first hour the park is open. Particularly, the "big" ones are: Summit Plummet, Slush Gusher (which is right next to Summit Plummet), Downhill Double Dipper. Then from there, do anything else you want, in whatever order you want. Maybe the mat slides first?? Save the lazy river and wave pool for last.

There are lots of stairs, so be prepared. Don't use the ski lift if you're in a hurry. It's faster to climb the stairs, and the ski lift stops constantly due to user error.

That's why I have a different touring plan for TL. We're talking BB here!

We never even get chairs at the water parks, LOL. So assuming others are like us, that's partly why they never run out. We just get there, stow our stuff in a locker, and enjoy the attractions until we're ready to leave, in which case we just walk back to the lockers and get changed. So while everyone's running for chairs, we're heading off for the slides.

We had zero problems getting seats in the shade at BB in July. I wouldn't worry too much about that.
If you have kids the ski patrol area is very cool and my kids wanted to spend a lot of the day there, but I would do slides first.
As mentioned do the "big" slides first. Also do Downhill Double Dipper early.. The line was very very long for that one, while the others around it were walk ons.

We did the ski lift early in the morning, but then later in the day the line was longer for that then for any of the slides and it kept stopping, so we walked instead.

Yep, Downhill Double Dipper always has the longest lines. I’d go there first and then ride again if you want to, because that line can get very long. Then do Slush Gusher, Summit Plummet and Teamboat Springs before going back to the red slides, mat slides etc. There are plenty of shaded chairs just to the right of the tween Ski School area, so we normally put our clothes and towels there and then head off to the slides.

Good tips and suggestions y’all!

I do wonder about something... while I am fine stowing most of our gear in the locked I would like to keep my phone on me if I can help it so that I can monitor the time but also take videos and pictures of my party while playing at Blizzard Beach.

I was thinking of getting one of those water-tight sealing transparent phone bags I’ve seen people use while in the pool or the ocean at Castaway Cay... but does anybody know if Disney allows people to go down the water slides with that? I assume the pool and lazy river would be allowed... but I know some places get picky when it comes to objects on the slide, but perhaps those phone bags around the neck are an exception.

Does anybody know where I might find one of those water-tight phone bags to buy? Either at a store or online (eBay.ca or Amazon.ca)??

You’ll be able to take your phone on some slides but not others. I didn’t take mine on any slides, but did take it out in a water proof case for some pics of my kids in the tween area and in the lazy river. I have this phone case from amazon phone case

Ah! JOTO, eh? I still am rocking an iPhone 8... I tried to find one for my model but I don’t think I’m seeing it. Is there one for it someplace??

Last trip I went to both BB and TL for first time

I was before park opening on both parks. BB opened the doors at like 9:30-9:40 AM dont remember time. Was enough time to get my locker and be ready to start before they opened the pools at 10 am

For TL I arrived half hour early as well knowing they opened BB early. And it didnt open until 10 am and spend that half hour waiting in a line with the sun hitting me (I think they were filming something in the park).

But honestly I was kinda afraid of going to a slope and it get stuck on something haha So I used more on the Wave pools and the lazy rivers.

We try to get there about 15 - 30 minutes prior to rope drop to get a locker (we don't typically lounge on chairs there) and be at the rope to hit the ski lift first. This is usually the one and only time we take the ski lift as the line really backs up after a while and as PP mentioned, when that line backs up, it's easier to use the stairs. We then do Teamboat Springs and Slush Gusher (we don't do Summit Plummet, but, if you are interested in doing it, I would do it here!). We then head over and do Toboggan Racers, Snow Stormers and Downhill Double Dipper as those lines can get really long! Then Runoff Rapids. At that point we double back to Melt Away Bay, Cross Country Creek and Ski Patrol (my DS is too old for Tike's Peak). Then it's usually time for lunch and we are done with BB for the day! If it isn't too hot and the line isn't long, we sometimes play a round of mini-golf at WinterSummerland after that.
