I always seem to get blisters (and I mean a lot) when I go to Disney. To the point that it's uncomfortable just to walk. I noticed that a couple of people have mentioned moleskin. That never works for me. Last year I happened to think to bring vaseline (I have super dry skin and have to put it on my hands and feet at night before bed, anyway...) and tried putting it on my feet before I put my socks and sneakers on. That seemed to help a lot but it's kindof gross feeling.

My question is...
I read in the unofficial guide that some people put duct tape on the bottom of their feet (but they cut lines for in between their toes).
1. Does this really work?
2. Why does it work?
3. Is it very uncomfortable?

Thanks!

An old millitary trick is to spray your feet with anti-perspirant (not deodorant)

I've not gone the duct tape route but have used athletic tape. Also important is are the socks you wear. Wear something that will wick the moisture away from your foot. I swear by SmartWool. Costly yes, but never had a blisted problem since the investment. Others like CoolMax.

What I bascially do, is tape the back of my foot, where I am prone for blisters and powder up the pups. The athletic tape is a bit easier to pull off the I imagine duct tape would be.

I used to ALWAYS get blisters, no matter what I did. But before leaving for our trip last fall, I bought some "Anti-Blister Balm" from Avon. We all put it on our feet religiously every morning, and every evening. I wore my normal "everyday" socks and "everyday" tennis shoes and did not have one single blister during my entire trip. Since then I have sworn by the stuff. When I get a new pair of sandals or dress shoes, out comes the anti-blister balm. I haven't had one problem with blisters since using this stuff. I don't know if it works that well for everyone, but for me it's a true "miracle cream"!! You might want to look into it. It's a small investment to make (especially if it works as well for you!).

Hi,
I used blistershield powder and had no
blisters. I just sprinkled some in my socks before I put them on. You
can go to the store locator on their web site(above) to see where you can
get it in your area. It worked great for me. Good Luck

I would NOT recommend doing the duct tape because if you do get a blister anyway, it's going to hurt like crazy when you take if off! :earseek:

I recommend Blistershield or Bodyglide and also the Avon anti-blister balm (I have all three) for preventing blisters.

I also recommend moleskins for any existing blisters.

I also recommend Teva's Pretty Rugged Sandals.

I tried special walking sneakers, antipersperant, and Coolmax socks and none of them worked for me.

Good luck!

I used to get terrible blisters - I'm talking on every toe and the soles of my feet. Two years ago I tried Cool Max socks and did not get a single blister. I wear them all the time now. You can find socks with Cool Max at Target for a better price than at sporting goods stores.

Last year I had horrid blisters! :guilty:

This year I used a product that fellow DisBoarders recommended called Body Glide. It was the best $6.99 that I spent! :teeth: I returned after a week without a single blister or even a sore spot! Great product! :cool1:

What is the consistency of this blister balm? Is it thin or thick? Is it greasy? Does it have talc in it to make it feel soft? Thanks!

Just back from Pop Century. This time we all used Moleskin and NO BLISTERS!!! YAAAY!!!

(also had the best time ever!)

The consistency is sort of like vaseline. It goes on a bit like an ointment, but once you rub it in, you don't really feel it anymore. It doesn't feel greasy to the touch once it's on. It provides a sort of barrier. We used it not only on our feet but also on the inside of my daughter's legs where she tends to get alot of chafing. It just prevents alot of "friction". (Hope that makes sense.)
