My life this last 6 weeks or so has reallly sucked....or so I thought. My truck got wrecked by a semi and the driver disputes it so it has to go to arbitration--my rental car coverage expired 2 weeks ago and I have to borrow the rest from my dad--we filed bankruptcy and our dog died.
Sounds pretty crappy.
BUT....when you think about it....
our 3 kids are happy and healthy and relatively intelligent.(although some days with the 12 year old I wonder about the common sense)
we had a good 10 year run with the business and a wonderful 5 years with the dog.
all 4 of our parents are still living and , except for MIL's arthritis and early emphysema, pretty healthy for their ages.
we have great neighbors.
90% of my students this year are really nice.
I have a job, and although we are living by a thread right now, it could be so much worse if I didn't teach.
We have health care.
We've been married 18 years, my parents have been married 50 and his parents 41.
DH got a job offer from another contractor who wants him to be a partner after a year or two of selling, instead of just selling forever.
We have a new puppy that seems to be a good choice.
We are pretty blessed after all! Anyone else need to count some blessings?

I am so glad to see that someone can be hit with alot of mishaps and STILL see the brighter side of things.

Too many times we dwell on what is wrong or what we don't have, when those are the times we should be thankful for what we have and what is right :)

Thanks for the thread Robin. Since Frances hit I've been trying to remind myself daily of all the blessings in my life and not letting myself dwell on the bad.

I'm very blessed to have a home. So many people lost their homes from the flooding and landslides.

One of the largest blessings I have really be counting lately is all of the wonderful people in my life. That includes people on the DIS, another message board I frequent and my local friends and co-workers. Just the other day I was telling them that I was very thankful to God for always bringing the right people into my life right before I had to go through major difficulties. It has happened every single time. When God brought me to this area two years ago I knew there was a plan, but I didn't realize that he was bringing me here to have the love and support that I do.

:D

Kids and me, healthy. All parents healthy. Even those that aren't, it's either natural, old age, or something that can be dealt with.
I have a roof over my head, a car to drive, food on the table, a computer to talk on, doggies to love me, snakes to shock people with, friends, most of which are a lot smarter than me. And they like me anyway. lol
I have a job, it's inside and temperature controlled.
My girls are doing great, they are more than I could have hoped for.

:D

1. I have my health.
2. I have a job.
3. I have a great dad. He's in pretty good heatlh for his age, 79. In fact, he just left for a golf outing!
4. I have a great home in a great neighbor with nice neighbors.
5. I have 7 wonderful nephews
6. I have 5 wonderful nieces, including 2 who live close by and can't wait to visit me or for me to visit. And everytime I leave them, the 5 yr. old asks, when are we going to see you again?
7. I have wonderful friends. They all supported me when my mom died, mostly just by being there.
8. The DIS!
9.. I live in a wonderful county where I can voice my opinion. And you can voice yours. We may not agree, we may call each other names, but we can do that too!

Thank you for starting this thread. I needed this!

I am glad you are able to see some good from under the clouds you have been seeing lately! I hope you get your vehicle situation squared away soon.

Wow~ I am not sure where to start with this thread! We have been so blessed this yr. After 10 yrs of waiting, everything fell into place for us to adopt a baby we could not even begin to dream would be as perfect as he is! We have also ended up having a great relationship with his birthparents (which we really never dreamed would happen). They have been so unbelievably generous and so grateful to us for coming into their lives. They are moving on and seem so at peace with the whole situation.

We are certainly not well off financially, but we are meeting our responsibilities.

My work has been so generous to allow me to work p-t from home so I can spend every possible minute with Connor.

Our family for the most part is nearby and very healthy.

I am sure I missing lots of other wonderful things we are blessed with!!!
