DAY THREE: EPCOT

This morning we needed to be at the Princess Breakfast in Norway. We were doing well getting ready when ds decided not to be outdone by his sister and had a nosebleed. We worked to get it stopped and now we were behind schedule. As we were hurrying to the bus stop, I looked at dd and her nose was bleeding again. So, we had to stop and get it stopped and get her cleaned up again. At this point, I considered just going back to the room, but I am glad we didn’t. We had our longest wait for a bus this morning (of course, we were running late) of about 30 minutes.

Then once we got there, it is a long walk to Norway. We basically sprinted the whole way. We were about 15 minutes late, but they still took us, thankfully. Our server, Bijorn, was excellent. The food was good and the kids ate pretty well here too. We visited with Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Mulan, Jasmine, & Belle. The characters didn’t seem overly rushed and spent a little time at each table. It was a good time. Our kids really enjoyed the character meals (and we did quite a few of them).

When we were done, we headed to Future World which was now open. We went thru Ice Station Cool. We had a huge pile of snow fall on the stroller when entering. Dd did not find that amusing at all. We enjoyed cooling off there. Then we went on Spaceship Earth. The kids were nervous at first, but ended up enjoying it. Then we went to Innoventions and the kids enjoyed doing a lot of the hands on stuff there. Then off to Universe Of Energy where dd was scared, but I did some fast talking and had her convinced the dinosaurs were “so cute”. Then we did Figment which they enjoyed except for the big blast of air. At the Kodak place, we had pics taken of the kids – one of dd with the Princesses and one of both kids with Mike & Sully where Sully is dangling him in the air.

Then we went to The Land. We had time to squeeze in Food Rocks before our Ice Cream Social time. Dh & ds slept again. Dd & I loved it. Well, the songs brought back a lot of memories for me. It is a cute show.

Then off to the Ice Cream Social at the Garden Grill. The ice cream was plentiful and tasty. The character interaction here was the best of all the character events we did. The characters sat at the table with the kids, colored with them, played tic-tac-toe with them, etc.. They came back many times. We saw Mickey, Goofy, Chip, Dale, & Pluto.

Then we decided to grab a sandwich & fries. As we were waiting for dh to come with the fries, ds’s nose started bleeding again. A wonderful CM, Cliff, who was tending to the dining area got us some ice and a towel. Thankfully it didn’t take long to get the bleeding stopped this time. I was hoping it would stop as we were hoping to get the kids into the final cookie baking of the day. Sure enough, we made it. The man who ran the cookie baking, Kane, was terrific. The kids had a blast. Dd had flour all over her face until she was done. It was so cute. They loved doing it and getting their chef hats. I highly recommend it.

We were scheduled to have dinner at Le Cellier that night, but everyone was pretty tired, so we decided to just cancel and head back to our room for a nap. Well, the kids didn’t nap, but they did enjoy having playtime in the nice cool room. Dh slept (hmm, do we see a trend here, LOL??). We ended up just having room service pizza and salads and heading to bed early.

I am really enjoying reading your reports, as I have a DS4 1/2 who will be taking his first trip in October. I am planning on doing the cookie making, and was hoping you would throw some more details my way. It is at the Land pavilion at the Sunshine Food portion, correct?

Is there a wait? What times did they do it? You mentioned the last timeslot--when was that? How long does it take? Do the parents sit and watch?

Thanks!

Yes, it is held at the Land Pavillion in the food court area there. There is a limit to the number of children who can participate - I am guessing around 15-20. There were a couple of times a day they did it. We did the last time for the day we were there - which was 4:30 pm.

Yes, the parents can watch. It was so fun. There is a sitting area where parents can watch from. I'm estimating it lasted about 1/2 hour or so. First they each got heir chef hats. Then they all washed their hands. Each child had a part in mixing up the batter, then each one got a turn at scooping the cookie dough and placing it on the baking sheet. Then they had them do a little wishing ceremony where they shook little cups of choc chips to make the cookies bake faster. Then they brought them each out a bag with 2 cookies in it.

It was really fun. It is free, but I would gladly have paid a small fee for the kids to participate as they enjoyed it so much. The CM who led it told us that they had just renewed the contract to do it for another year.

HTH and that your son gets to participate.
