So the package we booked originally had flights out of YYZ on a Saturday at 6:35 PM (arriving at ~9:30 PM) and leaving MCO the following Saturday at 10:35 PM.

We had planned everything around these fight times, especially a final day at the parks on Saturday before heading to the airport.

Well they basically went ahead and cancelled our flights and shoved us on ones over 12 hours earlier both days.

So the first day of our vacation is somewhat shot because although we are arriving in MCO at 9:30 now, check in at our resort at Universal is not until 4:00 (but I know if we're lucky they might have a room available earlier). And our last day plans are completely shot because we fly out at 10:30 am.

Not to mention now that we need to wake up at like 2:30am to head out so we can make our new 6:30 am flights.

I called them to complain and look for some form of compensation but they basically said "Sorry for your luck".

Just venting.

I understand your frustration -- we had Westjet cancel our flight from a Thursday till the following TUESDAY, no warning, no heads up, they just cancelled our flight and didn't even put us on another flight. Luckily i keep a close eye and was able to get it straightened out (means flying out of Pearson instead of Kitchener though, sigh)

Our kids are all flying on AC and have had their flight times change at least 3 times over the last month. Airlines are apparently under no obligation to inform us of itinerary changes -- extremely annoying. That's why we never make any plans for both arrival and departure day -- keep checking your times right up till the day before in case they change on you again. Sorry for your frustration.

Ya. They obviously cancelled our flights to save money (going from 2 flights that day to 1) and it pisses me off that they didn't offer anything as a "make good".

My only hope is now that the one flight gets booked up early and they add that second flight back so I can request to move back to it.

But I'm not keeping my hopes up.

I worked for AC and if AT is similar your'e probably out of luck. The flight schedules are changed for chunks of time and there is ZERO addressing them outside of those times when they're redesignated. Maintenance and labor is planned around it. Really sorry it happened to you :(.

Other things you can do:
1. Hand pick alternate flights that would work out better for you and ask for a re-change. You can include flights that start out from or connect through a different airport.
2. Ask for a refund and cancellation.

1. They do not have alternate flights on that date. They now only have 1 flight each day on Friday's and Saturday's
2. There are fees to cancel. Because they put me on a flight the same day, and warned me well ahead of time I can't cancel without a fee.
  • Even if we were to cancel, and try to book with another carrier (fee or no fee), everything is much more expensive right now than what we booked for.

I wouldn't worry about your check-in day at Universal. Just go straight to the hotel and see if a room is ready. If not, store you bags with the bellman and head to the parks with your express passes. You get them no matter what time you check in. You can always give them a call and request an early check in.

Staying at Cabana Bay so no EP.

I realize there will likely be a room ready by the time we arrive, but essentially the first day is nearly shot for the most part as a) by the time we land, get our luggage and rental car and get to the hotel, it'll be around noon and we'll be dead tired from having to wake up around 2:30 am to get loaded and to the airport to clear security and customs for our 6:30 am flight.

Fingers crossed for a beautiful day so you can enjoy the lazy river and the rest of the CB amenities.

Absolutely. If the first day has nice weather to just lounge and relax by the pool then it definitely wouldn't be a write-off.

Last year we had the same flight times with Air Canada and we vowed we wouldn't do them again based on how exhausted we were that first day. And it was cold/cloudy to boot so other than wandering around CB for a bit with my kids while my wife slept, it wasn't much of a great first day.
