Many of you know that I am not fond of WDW, but I have been there about 10x. Most of those trips came after I was married. My wife is a big fan of WDW.

We are like polar opposites in regards to WDW.

I hate crowds; she gets "energy" from them, she says.

I hate high prices. She says "it's vacation, money doesn't matter".

I hate waiting in long lines, and she doesn't mind.

I am more of an "attraction" person, while she is more of a "rides" person.

Anyway, we just got off of a phone conversation and she said, "I think I've done enough Disney for a while. We don't have to go again for 5 years."

:banana::banana::banana:

This, hopefully means that we get to do some of the things I like to do.... go to the mountains... go to places like Belize or Costa Rica.... find a QUIET beach.

I hate being "go, go, go!" on vacations. Hardly seems like a vacation to me at all. I would be happy floating on a raft in a nice pool, and reading a book for a few days, mixed with a little action for a few days.

I'm just glad that Disney is off the books for a few years....

BTW, for those that don't know, I actually love most everything about Disney EXCEPT the parks.

Enjoy your experiences! Although I love Disney, and go whenever we can, we go other places as well, especially to see DH's family in Europe, so I understand the feeling that there is more to life than the parks. (kind of, personally I'd live there if I could, but I'm sure DH would agree w/ you.)

I love disney and my dh loves it as well, we just got back from a 14 day trip in April, had a good time but my body is just not what it use to be as far as being able to go, go and go, I found myself longing for the vacation to be over even though I love it there the level of stress on my body is work to me.
We will not go back for at least two years so maybe my body will recoupe by then. :rolleyes1

I doubt her 5 years will actually last 5 years...mine never have!!

I always say that I need a vacation after a week at WDW. :rotfl:

Have you ever gone on a cruise? We cruise with our kids (out of NY/NJ) about once a year. Still more crowds than I would like, but enough space that you can get some quiet time/space. Runs about the same price per night as WDW for us.

I'll be willing to bet your wife's "5 years" ends up being 1.5 or 2 years, though. ;)

Not yet, but she wants to do a family one next year. My wife has done 2 or 3 cruises, but none since we have been married.

We just got back from a FL vacation last week. We only did MGM one day. I did IOA for a day, and my family did IOA for 2 days.

Oh yeah, so you just got back. I've said that sort of thing---and it wasn't near the 4th of July either!!!
If I went to WDW near the 4th, I'm betting I'd say such a thing too. ;)
Plus, if you go a few times a year, you don't have to go so commando so you can relax by the pool and enjoy touring the parks leisurely. That's defintely been the secret for us.

You all will have great family trips to here and there during the next 5 years, I'm sure.
5 years w/o WDW would be the most depressing thought for me though. I can't even go there. Of course, I'd be doing a few minus the DH trips in that case!

This last trip we just took with 2 babies, 2 kids, grandparents and my sister and her DH made me say that too. But, I didn't say 5 yrs...I just said 3 yrs
It was hectic..and I definitely needed those 2 days relaxing at the beach we took afterwards. I do love the parks and the energy, but I understand just loving "Disney" and wanting to do other things! Have fun :thumbsup2

I went with my daughters for spring break this year and came home wondering if I even really wanted to return for the already booked September trip. I even told the girls on the way home that I thought we needed a break from WDW.

That was then...now September seems so far away that I'm been wondering if I can manage to get there this month for at least a few days.

I'm sure it's been asked, if your not a Disney fan, why are you on the Dis? Not trying to be rude, just curious. And for the record, no way I could go 5 years without the world. I jones for it after 2!

5 years?? yikes... I love disney so much I dont know if I could make it 5 years without it.. but I know when I first get back from a trip there I tell myself I need to take a break from it..

I think its because its really not a relaxing vacation for me.. because we are on the go so much.. I honestly have no plans to visit WDW next year.. :scared1: I know I know.. if you know me, you know thats not normal.. we did a family trip to WDW last year with my 3 kids, my 2 step kids and 2 grandbabies and that burnt me out :rotfl:. I went on a solo trip in April and it just wasnt the same, so that was what made me decide to give it a break for awhile..

besides.. there are so many other places I want to go and things I want to do.. now me and DH are going on a disney cruise in September and I am looking forward to that because I know it will be relaxing..

Papa Deuce you should give that lady of yours a great big hug. You sound like my DH. When he started pushing to visit places other than WDW my response was, 'Great! I'd love to visit 2 places every year!":lmao:

Great comeback:lmao:!!!

I haven't been to Disney since 2004. Even though I really love it, there are other great places to vacation. Next year DH and I would love to go out west and vist the Yellowstone/Grand Teton area. DH has never been there and I would love for him to see it. Sooo beautiful:cloud9:!

We went in October of 2008 for 8 days and had a fantastic vacation. It was wonderful, magical, and we all had so much fun. By the time we checked out on the last day, I was so ready to get on the plane and come home it was nuts. We'd had all the fun we could handle. We wanted our quiet house, our dog, and to just relax a bit. We wouldn't do Disney every year. We've got another trip planned for October 2010, but there are so many other places to see! We're really wanting to take a family vacation to Ireland and Scotland, I'd like to go on a cruise (not a Disney cruise), and I'd love to go to Hawaii. This list goes on. As much as I love Disney World (and I do) I'd hate to limit myself to just that.

Enjoy a few relaxing vacations coming up!

I'm with you on the crowds. Crowds of people just drain me. However, surprisingly on the plus side, WDW is the only place I've been on vacation where not one thought or worry of every day life enters my mind. Any other vacation, it's crept up.

My husband (not a WDW fan) and I have a deal. In exchange for 1-2 weeks at WDW each year, he gets one golf vacation with his country club buddies and one vacation with me to somewhere we have never been before.

But he does let me take a little advantage. When he picked Paris last year, I did manage to add on 3 days at Disneyland Paris before he had a chance to figure out a way to get out of it. :rotfl:

After many, many trips to WDW I just couldn't do it again. I always feel like I need a vacation from my vacation and while we have fun, I do not feel relaxed and rejuvinated. So this year we did a week in the Outer Banks and I have to admit it was the best vacation I've ever had. A week of no planning, no dinner reservations, no wake up calls, no crowds, no waiting on a bus; a week of complete bliss. The biggest discision was beach, pool or hot tub.

Can't wait to go back!

I don't like the crowds, don't like the heat.....so we try to go Nov-Feb.
Love that time of year.
We both enjoy going to the parks more and more since we are "older" and don't take kids. We do things as we want, what we want, when we want. Love it!!
But, we do go other places too.
We also go to WDW 2-3 times in a year to take advantage of APs and then skip 3 years or so....but go to DLR during that time ;)
I can see how you want to relax....for me, I can not just sit around with nothing to do. I need to do things almost all the time. I go crazy just sitting. Can't even watch TV without doing something else
have a great break.....hope you get to go to some great places too ::yes::
We are looking at a river cruise in Europe or Egypt in the next year or so (depending on the house here selling....or not  )

Papa Deuce, you must try a disney cruise! It will give your wife her Disney fix, and you can have your nice relaxing vacation.

We went on our first DCL in 2007 and I fell in love with cruising! It is the most relaxing vacation that we have ever had.:lovestruc

The answer is in the OP.
