Blah! Why do they call it morning sickness when it lasts ALL DAY????

Not much morning sickness for me. I actually worried that there was something wrong because I felt so good. But I had just started DD#1 at a new day care when I found out I was PG with #2 (DD#1 was 4 months old). I didn't want to tell the babysitter I was PG but one morning I got sick in her driveway. I guess there was no hiding it then.

Good luck to you. I always carried a package of crackers with me and ate a few whenever nausea struck.

 I was one of the lucky ones and didn't have to go through that either time I was pregnant.

Has the dr given you anything to help with your morning sickness, Becka?

I don't have any advice, Becka. I just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!

They call it "morning sickness" because it STARTS in the morning, when you get up!:jester: Mine lasted all day too with first DS. Thankfully, it went away after the first trimester. I was very tiny before I got pregnant and couldn't afford to lose any more weight. Just the smell of bacon frying would send me to the bathroom. I think I remember eating alot of plain baked potatoes during that time. Hang in there. You do have something to look forward to!:D

Congratulations!

I wasn't sick very long with my daughter but when I was the 2 things that helped were saltines and chamomile tea. The tea was supposed to be relaxing and it's caffeine free. Good luck and I hope you feel better!

Good luck! I was like this for all 3 of my pregnancies. :( The first was the worst. I was in the hospital for almost 3 months, then had IV therapy at home with a visiting nurse. My wedding was comming up (LOL) so we took the IV out. I was bruised, but didn't have to have anymore IV's after that day! Guess that was my punishment for not being married!
With my 2nd I stayed out of the hospital, but was terribly sick too. My third time we used Prednisone (steroid) and it worked well. I got a little "puffy" and my hair went poker straight but I wasn't throwing up as much! After I stopped taking the steroids my hair turned very curly! It still is 5 years later!

Just be carefull not to get dehydrated. It doesn't take long, and once you are dehydrated you actually feel more nausea. It can be a terrible cycle! Talk to your doc about your options.

The absolute worst is knowing that it's not a virus that will end soon! 40 weeks is a LONG time!

Becka!!!!! I must of missed it, I didn't know you were pregnant again!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

A little brother or sister for Nathan...... I am so excited for you!!!!!!!!

I am sorry about the morning sickness.... not looking forward to it myself!

If you're really having a hard time, ask your Dr. about Zofran. I call it my miracle drug. I lose weight in the first trimester because I'm so sick with m/s, and this drug didn't make the nauseaus feeling go away, but it kept me from throwing up 10 times a day.

I really feel for you! M/S is the WORST! :( I hope yours doesn't last long. :)

Decaffinated iced tea with lemon helped me. I had all day MS with 4 pregnancies. Staying hydrated eases the nausea. Also try bananas, even if it only a bite or two. The potassium is important for electrolyte balance.
Your doc may let you take a break from the prenatal vitamins since the folic acid is sometimes to blame BUT folic acid is essential for brain ans spinal chord developement. Eat foods that are high in this vitamin if you are not taking the vitamins!!! I enjoyed tomato sandwiches on squishy white bread and greek salads! Little cans of tomato juice too, the saltiness helped me.
I hope I am not making you sick talking about food. LOL
Having someone else prepare dinner for you helps alot if you can get outside for a little walk while it is cooking and not have to smell it. I could eat much better if it just "appeared in front of me" rather than for me to have to touch it, wash it, chop it, SMELL it, or THINK about it!

Craved Indian food, believe it or not - I think it had something to do with the ginger.

Along those lines- Altoids now makes a ginger one! I secretly bought them for an upcoming trip because my husband who is prone to motion sickness wants to ride Mission Space! I know that he will get sick & want to have these in the backpack just for this occasion! LOL

I bought 3 boxes. I tried them too because I LIKE the taste of ginger. Truthfully they were a little icky. VERY spicy- hot. But who knows, they just might help you! They really are made of ginger not just a "ginger flavor".

They were a little dificult to track down, finally found them at a store called World Market, but my daughter said when they were shopping with Daddy this weekend she saw them near the checkout at Target. She could be wrong though.

If you are really desperate, they have a website you could order from believe it or not!

best wishes for a happy healthy baby!

Cherry lifesavers are the best. The ones in the bag that are individually wrapped are a little bigger and last longer than the rolled ones.

I hope this helps.

Best of luck and congratulations!

Oh Becka - I feel your pain! I had all-day sickness with both of my pregnancies - luckily mine ended at about 4 months. One thing to ask your Dr. about is the combination of Unisom and Vitamuin B-6. I don't recall the exact dosages now, but something about the combination of these two helps with the nausea for many women. It didn't make it go away completely, but it did help. I only took half of the unisom dosage they recommended during the day, because I had to work, but it still helped. And, after a few days, your body starts to get used to the Unisom and it doesn't make you as tired anymore.

Here's to hoping it passes soon, and you can strat enjoying your pregnancy.

Trader Joes sells gummy bears that are made of ginger. They also have some other ginger drops too.

I don't get too sick, and thankfully that trend is sticking with me for this pregnancy so far - I am at about 8 weeks now. Please don't throw rotten eggs at me - I'm sorry, I know how totally awful it must be for you. I find that if I get hungry I get sick, though. I try to stay hydrated and have some sort of food nearby, although, all I have right now is jelly beans, so I might want to invest in something a little bit more nutritious.

:bounce: Congratulations!

Hi Becka!! Congratulations again on your pregnancy!

You've gotten alot of great advice here. I too was sick with every single one of those little faces in my sig.:crazy2: All day every day for months. I have had to get rid of some old videos because they triggered a nauseous feeling (I guess I heard them too much while I was throwing up...Pavlov's dogs and all).

I tried Phenergan but try taking care of other little ones when you are a zombie...doesn't work. While I was pregnant with Samantha my Dr suggested Zofran. It was very helpful. As Liz mentioned it didn't take all of the nausea away, but I was not throwing up.

And as Stacilee mentioned, it was very helpful if I didn't cook. It's exactly as she said...if the food just appeared, I could eat most of it. We ate out alot during my pregnancies (at O'Charleys 2 kids eat free with a paying adult!!!::yes:: )

I can't give you advice on what foods helped. It was different every time. I did find that if I ate what I was craving I felt better. I hope you feel better soon...or at least find something that helps.

I know exactly what you mean. There are shows my kids can no longer watch now that I'm not pregnant. Jo Jo's Circus and the Shanna's Show short that comes between some Playhouse Disney programs still set me off even though baby #4 is now 4 weeks old.
