Blackout Dates in November 2011

Just received a mailer today for up to 40% off a WDW resort hotel through 12-31-11 - but the first 2 weeks in November are blocked out, which is the timeframe we will be there. Why does Disney have blocked out dates? Bummer!

Jersey Week falls in that time frame. Normally it's the end of the first week of November, but I believe it is a week later in 2011 confused

Most of the blackout period seem to cover certain weeks where attendance spikes (Jersey Week, Columbus Day Weekend, Thanksgiving Week, Pop Warner Week etc)

Jersey week is the first full week in Nov, so since Nov 1st is a Tuesday it gets moved to the next week. Why I have no idea, but that is how it has been for as long as I can remember.

Plus a Federal Holiday is in that mix too (Veterans Day). All Federal Holidays cause an increase in attendance. Discounts are offered to fill empty rooms.

Thanks! I knew I had read somewhere on here that the actual dates for Jersey week would change for 2011.

I guess Disney figured it would cover its bases and block out both weeks.

we are trying to decide between 10/31-11/8 or 11/3-11/11. Does the blackout you received actually start 11/1? So if by chance we got this code, and checked in on 10/31 could it apply to our whole stay?

The block out dates for Oct/Nov are 10/30-11/12, 11/20-11/26. We went to WDW at the same time in 2009 and received the free dining, so hopefully we will get that again.

Right now, the only promos that have carried through blackout dates if you check in before they start has been free dining.

For these pin codes and general public discounts, the only nights that would be discounted would be the nights included in the promo. The others would be at full price (aka rack rate).

Checking out on 12/4? Then it's discounted.... the last NIGHT of the discount for this latest pin is 12/3.

The block out dates for Oct/Nov are 10/30-11/12, 11/20-11/26. We went to WDW at the same time in 2009 and received the free dining, so hopefully we will get that again.

the blackout dates are just for the pin you received? someone else in another thread received a 35% room discount for the first week of November. So I will hope for a pin without a blackout or free dining! Free dining would work out better for us anyhow.

I got the email as well but am bummed that my dates (11/5-11/12) are blacked out. Still hopeful though because last year, all of November except Thanksgiving had a 40% general public discount for deluxes. If Jersey week was not excluded from the discounts last year, and barring a dramatic improvement of the economy, it is hard to believe it will be excluded this year.

We went this past November 7-13 and the only discounts offered were room only discounts-we were in a Value so got 25% off. Everything helps! Free dining was definitely not offered for checkins anytime around ours as we had hoped for it!

Shoot. We are planning our very first Disney trip, and we are hoping to go from Nov. 7th to the 12th. We really could use some good deals, though! Should we move our trip to the 14th through the 19th to up our chances of getting some better deals??

seeing all this Jersey week talk always makes me chuckle... I was born in Jersey, and still have lots of family there.. and Nobody I have ever known in Jersey has heard about the so called "Jersey Week".

Only a state like Jersey could possibly think they are important enough for Disney to actually plan their schedules around them.. lol

You just don't know the right people. Every time we would go then we would run into many people just from our town, and when the kids would talk to their classmates at least 3 students from each of their classes were heading down. Don't believe it, show up at the parks that week and ask 20 random people where they are from, bet at least 10 of them will say Jersey...
