Black Swan... quite possibly

:confused3 Really? I never ask DH to watch movies I know he wont like-I'm esp fond of Period Costume-y things Like "Becoming Jane":)

DH watches movies I want to see all the time. Lucky for him, I have no desire to watch chick flicks (and would not consider BS to be a chick flick).

Certainly not the "Worst Movie Ever", that's a rather dramatic claim. My SO loved it, as did I. We liked the beautiful cinematography, the music, Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis' characters. And what a surprise to see Winona Ryder. The dancing was beautiful, and yeah... some of the "dark" stuff was kind of cheesy but we found it highly entertaining how that horror movie creepy stuff was entertwined with the whole Swan Lake story. I don't really get all the hating on this film.:confused3

Heck even another one of Kunis' movies was horrendous and that was American Psycho 2: All-American Girl.. that was brutal.

There have been very few movies that have won any type of Oscar that I like. Oscar = bad movie.

I'd happily watch "The Room" or "Manos: Hands of Fate" on a 24 hour loop before watching Black Swan again.

I enjoyed it very much. It was disturbing and very dark, but the acting was amazing. I thought Natalie Portman totally deserved the Oscar.
Agreed. I thought it was very artistic and refreshing compared to the other crap .. I mean movies.. that are out today.

Weird movie, yes. Worst, no. Worst 'good' movie ever is "No Country for Old Men", hands down.

Maybe I should say most over hyped movie ever.

Never seen Titanic, eh? :p

I didn't quite enjoy it. But I didn't hate it, either. But I agree about the acting. I thought Natalie was amazing.

Its a chick flick-esp for those who apreciate Ballet

Cant imagine any GUY wanting to watch it:confused3;):confused3

Interesting... I can't think of anything chick-flicky about this movie. Drama? Yes. Thriller? Yes. Chick flick? No way.

I hated it. Aronofsky doesn't know the meaning of 'subtle' which works for something like RfaD but not at all for BS. The movie was suprisingly amateur I thought.

IDK.... I thought The Wrestler was relatively subtle, escpecially considering what it was about. And I wouldn't call Black Swan amateur at all.

Oscar = bad movie.

That's too bad. I love most Oscar movies.

I almost never like Coen brothers movies. Blah.

Rango - DREADFUL.......

I'm sure I am in the minority but I didn't find The King's Speech as "entertaining" as I had hoped either.

I enjoyed it... but it wasn't my first choice for Best Picture. I won't go out of my way to see it again.

I thought that it was just OK but it's really not my type of movie. The acting was quite good though.

I haven't watched it yet, but I want to. I can't imagine it was any more over-hyped than The Dark Knight. I thought that movie was awful and I didn't understand everyone's rave reviews of it or Heath Ledger in it.

I didn't get that one either, after DH and I watched it, I asked what all the hype was about.

I really enjoyed BS, not something I think I would watch again, but it was good and probably very real in the ballerina world.

I didn't get the hype behind The King's Speech, it was very good, but when it ended, I was surprised, it seemed like it just ended, they didn't finish telling the story.

I'm glad to hear that other people didn't like it or thought it was over-hyped. I waited until it came out on DVD to get it so my DD16 could watch it and we could skip a couple of the scenes that I knew I would be embarrassed to watch with her. We watched it once with my DD commenting the entire movie about Natalie's ballet technique (or more precisely lack thereof) and when she thought the body double was dancing. Hated the movie. Next night I suggested we watch it again with DD not talking so we could actually concentrate on the plot of the movie. Still hated it.

And no,there is nothing in this movie that is typical of the ballet community. DD16 is a student at a school of a professional ballet company and is friends with other girls that are students at other ballet companies thoughout the country, and they have have all discussed how unreal things are portrayed. Especially the way the artistic director treats the dancers and the language he used during rehearsals.

If you didn't like The Dark Knight, you're just not a Batman Fan. Because that was by far the best superhero movie of all-time, and it's not close.
