Black Friday

Unpopular opinion in the 2020s… YESSSSSS!!!!! I can’t wait.

Online shopping is just… flat. No hustle. No excitement. Just slouching.

Yes. Black Friday morning was always "all hands on deck" day for morning news shows at TV stations. With the advent of backpacks that allowed us to go live without a live truck, even though I was someone who normally working in the newsroom, on Black Friday I was out with a camera and a backpack unit doing live shots, most frequently from Target or Best Buy. Retired 4 years ago, so this will be my 5th Black Friday where I am not involved in covering the chaos. I will be in bed, asleep.

I don’t like going out and fighting the crowds, but I do like getting deals online. A lot of stores are starting sales earlier than Black Friday, so I am keeping my eyes open for things I want to give as gifts and for things I need for myself (I really need some new non stick cookware).

I used to have to work on Black Friday so I would head out about 3:30am and hit some stores before going into work.

Nowadays since most stores have deemed the entire month of November as Black Friday in an attempt to curb the craziness and danger that the actual day has always been famous for, I didn't think it was that big of a thing anymore. But I guess I wouldn't really know since I don't partake. The day after Thanksgiving is always the day I stay at home and put up my Christmas decorations.

Toys R Us used to become gridlocked with carts starting midnight after Thanksgiving. I do not miss those days.

I miss the days before BF was all online. I loved the hustle and bustle of lining up, shopping, etc. Such a rush, lol. The high isn't quite the same when I just click online.

I’m looking forward to Kohls Veteran’s Day sale. Stacking coupons and free MVC shipping. I’m always able to completely finish shopping for GD13 and get her a lot of stuff for the money.

No interest in shopping, let alone shopping in massive crowds. If the weather is nice I'll maybe take a nice long hike to work off some of the stuffing and pie, and then be lazy and take an afternoon nap.

Yes! I look forward to it every year.

I like the travel deals that have popped up over the years during this time so I'll be on the lookout to book my next cruise during this time. NCL normally has good deals during this time. DCL... I wish. 😂

Disney Gift Cards do usually go discounted somewhere for BF, either Sam's Club or Best Buy. I've also jumped on a few of the SeaWorld AP deals they've had during that time.

We will do any big shopping online and have it shipped to our house before tackling the crowds generally. My mom and I used to go out at 2:00am on Black Friday before Covid - fun memories but now the deals aren't that good and stores aren't even open that early. My husband and I usually go to Target, Home Depot, etc on Friday afternoon to see what they have, but this year we will be in Rehoboth so we may check out the outlet mall there but more likely the local shops.
