I saw in either the Thanksgiving ad or Black Friday ad for Walmart that they have a 20" bike on sale for $39. I would really like to get one for DS, but I am not usually a BF shopper and I definitely won't stand in line for hours. What are my chances of getting one if I just go in at the beginning of the sale time? Is this something that would sell out quickly?

yes they will be fighting over the bikes- I will try to get mine online

I've bought both my sons bikes at Walmart & I have to say "never again". Both had problems with the chains within a couple months. I kept taking them to a bike shop to get them fixed & they would put them back on & then they would fall off again a few days later. I finally bit the bullet & bought my older DS a Trex bike last year for Christmas. He rides it every day & we have not had any issues with it. It'll be passed down to my younger DS in a year or two.

I will say that my DD had a bike from Walmart for several years & we never had a problem with it until the back wheel went flat. However, she doesn't use her bike half as much as my DS's so maybe that was why or maybe the person assembling it did a better job, who knows?

If he's going to use it a lot, I would just think about getting something of better quality so you're not replacing it every year or even every few months.

If you buy it online do you have to put it together yourself or will they do it if you have it shipped to the store?

I bought him a bike there two years ago that held up, but it was Razor brand. This isn't his big gift so I don't want to spend a lot on it, just so he has something because he has outgrown his old one. I keep looking on craigslist, but I haven't had any luck so far.

i had no problems getting the $39 bike last year at our walmart. I even had some people ask me how much the bike was and where I had found it. Good Luck

Our Walmart has it's bikes assembled and sitting outside all seasons. They were rusty and weather worn last Christmas. I decided not to buy my kids bikes for Christmas since it would be too cold for them to enjoy them any way.

When I went again to look this summer, same thing: Rusty and Weathered. (Chains, chain guards, joints, handle bars starting to oxidize etc.) No way would I waste $ on a bike from there. I got ours from our Kmart that doesn't store them outside instead.

Ours keeps them indoors. And we're in NC so while it gets chilly in the winter, it's usually not too cold to ride them.

I don't see a bike for $39. I see a Razor 20" for $59 after 6:00pm on Thursday. Am I missing something?
