Someone mentioned AKV deals from Disney for Black Friday over on one of the threads about the Doorway to Dreams event (don't know if it was from the Chicago one or the NYC one!) but didn't give any details. I thought maybe there would be a thread over here, didn't see it, so I thought I'd ask.

Last year, I believe they were offering an additional incentive (percentage off--don't recall exact amount but may have been 10%) for those that bought at the Doorway to Dreams locations. It was only available that way.

Have not heard about whether or not it will be offered again this year.

Actually, when you buy through Disney you can. I bought all my BLT points this way since they give you 6 months, 0% interest! And I got the reward points!!!

Yeah, unfortunately even if my credit limit was $280,000 I'm fairly certain it would take me more than 6 months to pay it off! Who wants to pay cc interest on that?!?

Plus, with that much time on vacation I'd probably forget how to work...

Last year, Disney had a big Black Friday "weekend" sale and heavily promoted it.

I did not hear about this last year or anything again this year. I LOVE the concept and would consider jumping on the 'sale'...what a great way to do a push on point sales...come on DVC management you can do it!!!

I have a Dec UY, so an add on right now would garner a few extra points. I was wondering what the AKL deal was right now.

I think that we will probably wait until GFV's to weigh that option or we will just add on at BWV's via resale.

If I could get a deal on AKL points closer to the $90-$92 range direct, I would be willing to entertain that idea.

50-99 points $6 off
100-159 points $16 off
160-199 points $20 off
over 200 points $22 off

I really want 100 more points, but $104 just won't cut it compared to resales.

Yea not much off eh? But I suppose if you couple it with the fact that prices are going up on Dec 5th (ish) it makes it more appealing...

Most of my credit cards have a lower rate than what DVC charges when you finance through them.

Agree that the deal wasn't great. I went to the event and was hoping to be wowed, but the deals were not as good as last year. They are also selling SSR for $98 a point, but just as someone pointed out about AKV points, the difference between resale and direct is still too big - and you don't even get the break on closing costs anymore.
