Black friday buddies 2010 unite! BACK FROM THE TRENCHES POST YOUR WAR STORIES!

With the blu-ray players, how do I know if I need the additional adapter or not? Will they work with netflix and pandora straight out of the box?
thanks.

if you go to walmart.com then click "local ad" and choose the thanksgiving ad, you can click on the items you want and a box will come up, telling if the item is available online as well as in-store. everything i want is available online

okay, it says it is available online - anyone know what time it starts?

If it says "WiFi Ready" then it will need an adapter to use WiFi. Most will work with Netflix and some Pandora out of the box. Generally the advertisement says that on the box or in the Ad.

Thanks!!! Another question, what is the benefit of having wifi? what will it do? Wouldn't I need some kind of connection for the netflix?

WiFi built in means you can stream wirelessly from your Home Network.(Assuming you have a wireless router).

You can still stream netflix from a non WiFi version if you hook it up via Ethernet to your router.

Honestly I can't see not upgrading a computer in 5-7 years even if you grab top of the line. I do see your point though.

I don't know anyone who plays "high end" games on PC but I played MMOs for years and never had a prob with a low end computer with a cheap new video card added in.

To be honest, my current system is way beyond anything anyone needs currently. I got a good deal through a friend wanting to off load the computer when a customer wasn't able to pay for the build. I only spend $900 on what was easily a $2000+ system at the time. If you went and bought the parts now, it would still easily be in the $1500+ range and I have had it about a year now.

This system will last me a long time.

A $300 system will most likely not play some of the newest PC games such as the new Civ. The requirements for these games can be ridicules and at times can not be played on the $300 deal systems.

I think in the long run, you and I agree on one main point. Know what you are buying and don't just be taken in because it is a "deal".

For the people looking at what blu-ray player to get, I would suggest going to Newegg.com and comparing them. This website will also have a decent number of reviews from knowledgeable people.

Wifi ready means you will need an adapter. Some players come wifi built in (like the one I have). Also be sure that the player you are getting will support the stuff you want. These days finding a player that supports netflix is pretty easy, but make sure you check.

Ok. . .just so I'm clear. If it says "built in wifi" you don't need the adapter, but if it just says "wifi ready" than you do?

So what does it mean if it says "wireless enabled"? Is that the same as WiFi ready?

I was just looking at the Best Buy ad (no way am I going to line up at 8pm Thanksgiving night just to get a ticket for what I want at 3am!) to see if you could buy the doorbuster items online, and it says you can start buying things on Thanksgiving Day...does anyone know what time?

And if the laptop I want is sold out online now, does that mean it will still be sold out on Thanksgiving Day, or will there be more?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm new to Black Friday deals and how it all works, never bothered before! :rotfl:

thank you SO much!! If you have walgreens I'd love that one too....I think I'm heading there that morning to get the cool air humidifiers.....

Has anyone else been shopping Amazon all day? I think when this weeek is over I'm going to have to look for a really nice gift for my UPS man

Yes, Wireless enabled should mean you need no extra equipment to make it wireless.

If its sold out online then I am thinking the deal is only for B&M stores. It is possible though they are withholding online atm till the last min so they will be available Black Friday.

Any one hear of any stores giving away gift cards, promos ? I don't really need any of the "Hot items" so I was thinking of seeing if any stores were offering anything worth standing in line for, lol. Our outlets are offering 10 gift cards to the first 100 people but I'm not really impressed with that, lol
