So, I am willing to brave the BF crowds in order to get a fantastic deal. So, all you guys that have been perusing the BF ads and know them by heart, what's the best deal??:worship:

After a lot of research I am going with the Garmin Nuvi 1350T at Target for $179.00 (plus you'll get a $10.00 Target gift card). There are a TON of cheaper GPS units out there (you may want to look at the Garmin Nuvi 255WT - Best Buy has that one for $129.99 but that is almost a 2 year old model). The 1350T is a 2009 model, and you can buy pedestrian maps for it. I like that idea for when we are visiting other places. Either one are good entry-level units with a few added features. By the way, the T stands for Traffic updates-you get free lifetime traffic updates to help you re-route around accidents.

I did like the idea of the one at BB figuring I could update the maps. I wonder if thats one where I will have to line up for?

Not sure how well Magellan's are as we have a Garmin brand, but Kmart has one today only for 79.99 reg 129.99, it is a Roadmate 1210 system.

I know - I'm trying to figure out the same thing for Target. My DH just keeps telling me to get there a little before they open, but I think he's crazy-that's when they'll be the busiest! And I don't know how much demand there will be for GPS units. :confused3

And yes, all new Garmins come with a free download if your unit doesn't have the latest maps.

We are also trying to get a GPS this year. There are a few good deals at the office stores (Office Max, Staples, etc). May cost an extra $10 but in our experience they are far less busy on Black Friday then Target, Walmart, Best Buy, etc. Also, last year we were able to order the deals on Office Depot's website. May want to check them out.

This may be a bit off topic, but if youare in the market for a new phone as well then the motorola droid on verizon is great. Built in gps and a really nice phone. Same price (with contract) as many stand alone gps units

Amazon has TomTom XL 340 4.3-Inch Portable GPS and a Case for $97 with free shipping. Price for case will be discounted at checkout. Next lowest on PriceGrabber from a reliable seller is $128.

If you can get to target on BF, you can get the XL340S (which has text to speech) for that same price...but w/o the case. Spend a couple of $$'s more to get up to $100 in purchases and you'll also get a $10 gift card.

I think I am leaning more towards a Garmin Nuvi simply because of the reviews. Seems like a lot of unsatisfied TomTom users.

Yes-same with me. I was going to get that Tom Tom but read some really bad reviews.

I posted the other day how much I hated my TomTom - I had to drive into Boston today, and if it was possible to hate that thing anymore than I already do, today would have done it. ugh.

the only good thing about it is the ability to change the voice - my kids love that I have yoda giving directions. I always wanted to put Mr. T on there too.

I think I am going with the one at HH Gregg. A Garmin 225T for $69
