Black Friday 2012?

I love Black Friday! I use it as an opportunity to shop for myself which is rare. Ive usually finished my shopping for the family before Thanksgiving. I usually score some quality pieces for my work wardrobe at fantastic prices. I can't wait!

The midnight sales last year ruined it for me. I'm not opposed to getting up at 4am once a year, but going out at midnight and still trying to catch early morning openings was terrible. Not fun at all.

Amen, sister. I did it last year and for the first time ever, I told DH I didn't think I was making it out this year except to hit the non-crowded BB&B. the midnight openings are annoying for everyone.

Just a note on JCP since a few of you were speaking of it earlier. I went to JCP last month for the first time in a looong time. DS22 had given me a $25 gift card and I had to find something. I needed a new purse and saw one I liked that had a sticky spot over the price so I thought it wouldn't hurt to have a cashier scan the price. It rang up $10!!! So I ran over and picked a leather $70 purse to have her scan and it rang up $20!!! I had money left over to get body scrub. From what I could see on the register it something about a short-term (month?) price decline. It pays to ask or check prices.

I need an iPad for ds.I was going to get a kindle but he uses an iPad at school and it would be easier for him to stick with what he already knows.Do you think anyone will offer a bundle deal?

I saw some deals with gift cards or asoc. bundles but price was same. In my case I got Ipad2 16gb wifi only 399 or whatever price was and 25.00 store coupon good following week, I was going to use coupon for cover/case for ipad but since it was good on groceries we used it for that. mine was tday deal and our store was very calm and orderly in Ipad dept. can't speak for other deals. the store did have itunes gc 2 15.00 cards for 25.00 or something like that.

I love BF! I have gone out for about 15 years. It is one of my fave days. I love hunting for bargains. Last year, I shopped all night. I prefer the early morning openings to the midnights to be honest.

I have found the cyber deals to be better and just shopping earlier like right now has made our black Friday shopping a just go out to the mall and people watch Friday. Then go home eat some left overs.

One of my coworkers sisters works at JcP and she said its business as usual for them this year and they will have no BF deals or special opening times this year.

The thing I want to know is if they will give away the free snowglobes. This is the only reason that I get up early on Black Friday.

My DD LOVES to go out on BF. We usually head out around 2 am and make it home around 10am. We both agree that the midnight starting last year were something we didn't like. We like the early mornings. I always get new biltmore home sheets at belk on bf as an early Christmas gift to myself.

Target has the Canon S40 at 50% off. I paid almost $400 for it at Sams. It is $214 as of yesterday at Target.

Oh, I would never take kids out on Black Friday. Too dangerous. Four years ago, my youngest DD and I opened Kohls at 4 AM. We almost got crushed. DD was scared for her life, and she was less than a month post partum.[/quote]

Trouble with that is..we'll be spending Thanksgiving with my technically challenged in-laws in Tennessee. Two years ago was pretty easy...I borrowed my brother-in-law's computer. Last year was harder; brother-in-law moved out, but due to the contract, my in-laws still had wifi. I used my iPhone3G to search out the cyber-special. This year, no wifi and iffy 3G coverage.

I now have a possible BF gift. DH wants to give the same, technically challenged in-laws a GPS. Nothing fancy, just something to do the trick. We vacationed at Myrtle Beach last month, and my in-laws went home early. We lent them our GPS to get home (we stopped by on the way home to pick it up). They had no problems with it.

Meanwhile, we got lost going home.
