Just watched New Disneyland frozen musical and Elsa is black

As much as I tried to enjoy this show it seemed weird

How do guys feel about this?

Craig had mentioned it on the show

From what I've seen online she seems like a good fit, so I personally don't see why it would hinder anyone's enjoyment of the show.

I would like to express my extreme displeasure over this very racist thread. This is not only insensitive to African Americans, but any race by saying that your race defines what you can and can not do. This not only should be closed, but deleted from the internet.

I would like to think that we have grown beyond this pettiness and can accept that ALL people are equal.

They let black people serve in the military, they let them teach our children, they even let them be President. Disney has always been very much ahead of the curve in terms of equality, so being surprised by the fact that Elsa is not an Asian man should be far fetched.

The woman is more than qualified to preform on stage as any character.

What was Elsa originally?? That's what she should always be.
I have no problem with Disney making a black character, but I would have an issue if they later portrayed the character as white.

Belle should be French. Snow White should be German. I am pretty sure that girl playing Ariel has legs. I dated one of the chicks that was Jasmine and guess what, spray tan Jersey girl.

I will buy that this isn't racist when Gaston and Belle speak French.

Yeah... I'm German an Italian but look white.

I figured most would understand without getting politically correct.

In all honesty, for the purposes of a musical I think they did the right think in just picking the person who could carry that role the best... I don't see any reason for this even being a point of contention.

There is some truth to what you say.... It's NOT true and actually history.

Pretty sure the story is based on the Hans Christen Anderson story of the Snow Queen.

I'd say she's potentially Norweigian (hence the EPCOT issue in taking over the pavilion)
I thought that was pretty well accepted by now?

ETA: I also thought it was accepted that just because you're Norweigian, didn't mean you couldn't be black?
