I have seen a few posts on Facebook about the Black Diamond Disney VHS tapes being rare. I have a handful and would like to know how to determine their worth so I can proceed with selling them and where the different places I can sell them.

Go onto ebay and do a search for them. That will tell you what they are worth. Make sure they have bids. Asking price with no bids is useless.

If you can go to your local Goodwill and find them for $0.50, then that should pretty much tell you what they are worth.

Put them all back in the box in the basement/attic - right next to the crates of Hummels, Bing & Grøndahl plates, Thomas Kincade paintings, Franklin Mints coins...

There have been a number of "articles" recently on some of the click-bait sites, like Buzzfeed, that talked about how things from our childhoods in the 80's are worth thousands now. But, as anyone knows an item listed on eBay at a particular price doesn't equate with worth or value. When searching eBay for price guidelines, it's best to always use the "Completed Listings" checkbox to see what things actually sell for. In most cases, its next to nothing.

the thing i don't get is that there are completed sold listings on ebay showing these selling at ridiculously high prices, well into the thousands. if you search the sold listings and then display them from high to low price they pop up and they are from this month. what is the deal here? anyone??

I looked up Aladdin black diamond vhs tape on ebay (since i have one) and there are listings for 99 cents - $5.00 then there are listings for $18k!!! For the same exact tape! But then if you look up the sold listings those ones in the thousands did not sell. Just the one dollar ones sold.

The Buzzfeed hype. It's manufactured demand. Probably idiots paying a grand for a tape thinking they can get $10K for it.

With ANYTHING that you want to resell, always use completed/sold listings filters.

In the UK these black diamond vhs are selling very well. Demand creates demand.
I am reading these posts as I have in my possession a black Diamond copy of the jungle book NTSC Standard
But I am more interested in the promo material inside. There is promo material sealed that has never been opened... would anyone here see a demand for that?
