When I was in high school we took in a black kitten that someone had abandoned outside of our band building at the school. Didn't think she'd make it, but she did. Once she got big enough to climb out of the large cardboard box she was being kept in in the living room she took to going under the chairs and couch and coming out covered in dust - very obvious on her long, black fur - she was like a Swiffer with legs. She wound up being named "Dusty."
Growing up, I had a black cat, that we inherited from a friend of my brothers.. it was a mean mean cat, that my brother felt bad for. Anyway.. point is, it came with a name. Rachester. But, that's not the most politically correct name.
Our black kitties are Bagheera (male) and Kiki (female) actually Kiki now lives with my parents. We should have called her bully! She is also known as Princess of Darkness or Princess for short. Our black and whites are Lucy and Sissy. My parents newest black kitty is Sweet-ums.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I once named a cat (Black) Magic and she immediately RENAMED herself Shadow because she followed me EVERYWHERE! Even into the shower!
I pretty much let them name themselves now...aside from their formal names my current two are alternately called Truck, Mouth, Rodent, Draco Malfoy and other others I can't mention.
