Sorry I've been so MIA the last week. Catching up from DD being sick from the shots & going to FL. Now I have a stomache bug - basicaly lost everything I had in me from Sat night on & it won't give up. And, it hasn't helped my weight. Didn't weight last week as I was gone & this week only down .3. But that's typical for me. When I don't eat, I gain.
I'm the only one I know who 3x went in the hospital, had a 7lb + baby & came out weighing almost 10 lbs MORE than before delivery!! WEIRD body!!!
Hopefully this bug will pass soon (no pun intended) & I can get healthy. Beginning to worry about the TOT at MGM in just over a week. 8 miles in 2.5 hours usually wouldn't be a problem, but have NOT trained lately at all!
#1 Tell us about your user name! (see, I said it would be quick, well maybe depending on the story! ) My DS18 was a competitive gymnast for 11 years & this was the gym he went to - gold cup. not exciting. PLEASE think before putting a child in a high level gymnastics program. I've been around it most of my life & much of it's NOT pretty. Now at 18 he's just beginning to tell some of the tales which others confirm.
#2 Tell us about when you were most fit in your life!
a. How old where you/when was it?
b. Was it a special time in your life?
c. How did you feel?
d. How did you take care of yourself? i.e. what did you eat, how did you exercise?
e. Did you do anything special to get to the most fit time in your life?
f. Tell us something that makes you smile when you think about it from that time frame.
e. details, details, details, it's all in the details so please tell us if you want to, I would love to hear about this special time in your life!
Ok, another long one. I was a competitive ice & roller skater from age 5 - 15.
Didn't have a normal kids life. Wasn't allowed to learn to swim as it did things to the muscles. Ran every day, took dance, ballet & gymnastics, lifted weights, worked out before & after school, traveled a lot. Every weekend we had to drive at least 3 hours each way to meet up with various coaches I trained with who flew in. At 14+ I just quit - about killed my parents who never truly forgave me for it. Competed gymnastics in MS/HS, ran cross country w/ the boys in HS as the girls didn't have a team (couldn't 'win' as I was unofficial) I have few good memories - the best was probably meeting members of the IOC when they were petitioning to get roller figure skating in the olympics - still haven't. Or when they were cutting a record (yes I'm OLD) for one of my routines and I got to go to NYC & hear them - it was the group that did the music for the Addams Family TV show. It was also kind of fun being the person to test the plates the wheels attached to on roller figure skates - I could break most of them doing jumps - so got lots of free pairs.
Unfortunately, all the jumps took a bad toll on my right ankle(landing ankle). At 15 it would spin in a complete circle - had NO tendons or ligaments not torn(fun to gross people out at parties). I kept going & was on & off crutches for over a year before I had my ankle rebuilt. At the time it was experimental surgery & the night before at 16.5, I was told I might never walk normally again, or at all, they didn't know if it would work. So, for 31 years I've not been able to ski, run, dance, wear heels, etc as if my ankle ever breaks, they can't fix it. They drilled 12 holes thru the bone/joint & took muscle from my calf & tied it all back together. I have screw heads you can see the bumps from under the skin. And, when coaching gymnastics in KS about 7 yrs ago I rolled it on a trampoline & now I very literally have a 'screw loose'. Sometimes it moves around & sticks where it hurts & I have to shake my ankle to get it to a place where I can walk again.
Fun, Fun, Fun!!
