It seems to be the time of year for appliances to give up! DDs birthday today (I wasn't a Disney fan when I had her - it's just coincidence!) and I was just making her cake when the RCB to the house blew. I switched it back on and everything seemed OK.

25 minutes later I went to remove the cake from the oven and it was liquid! I think an element must have blown (and therefore tripped the RCB). Luckily we have a double oven so I finished it off in the small oven but it's as flat as a pancake.

I'll have to get DH to look at the cooker - hopefully we can replace the part (the cooker's 11 years old) I don't want to be buying a new cooker before Christmas.

Oh dear, I hope this doesn't become a DIS epidemic :guilty: Sorry about the cake and hope you can get it fixed,

That's a shame about your DD's cake ~ Hope you can get the cooker repaired.

Libby, you can use my cooker if I can use your washing machine!! :rotfl:

Hope you get it fixed soon.

HOpe you manage to get it sorted

....and please can I borrow your gas fire as our's has 'packed in'.........

Yippee - we've got a working cooker again. DH ordered a new element via the internet. We were a little worried that it was dispatched via Royal Mail but it wasn't held up by the Christmas post. He fitted it this evening and I cooked dinner in there. Everything seems to be OK. What a releif!

Great news, now you don't have to have a microwave turkey dinner on Christmas day!! ;)

I've felt like a student again for this past week - it's been very challenging for the cooking on the stove top with just a very tiny (and very slow) top oven. (Mind you we live 7 minutes walk from a small town centre and have popped out once or twice for a KFC or Pizza  )

Pleased to hear that your cooker is now fixed, Libby, that must be a relief. Our gas fire is playing up too
