BL Summer Challenge 2009

Friday QOTD: How did you do this past week? Are you happy with your progress? If not, how what will you do differently this week?

I lost 1 pound - I'm happy and I'll take that.

My progress is slower than I hoped but totally normal for me. I'm happy with it - but I had hopped for more. It's not surprising since I haven't been exercising. I'm going to kick up the gear and exercise tons this week.

I'm down 2 pounds. :woohoo:So, I'd say things were progressing this week. ::yes::

Today is my 'higher' point day...to mix it up...and give myself two more days before my Monday WW weigh in. I notice I've been using my WW flex points to be able to enjoy some ethnic food, as opposed to 'sugaring-up'.

Actually, there are lots of SF/LF dessert treats out there, but it's really hard to find an gyro one. :lmao:

Thursday qotd- What are your plans for the weekend, and how are you going to stay on track?

DH's mom is visiting, she only comes for a visit once a year or even less frequently. Her trip this time is mostly to see the new baby (my new niece). She's mostly staying with my DSIL in the town 1.5hrs north of us, but she came to our house last night and we'll take her back north tomorrow afternoon, where there will be a birthday BBQ to celebrate her 60th Bday. DSIL has half planned it, and we get to do the work. DSIL had wanted it to be a surprise, but DMIL will figure out there's something coming, when my DD's are helping me decorate the birthday cake and cupcakes. I'm bringing the lean burgers I like, plus adding veggies and watermelon to the food, so I know I can eat reasonably.

I didn't get to WI this morning, since DMIL is sleeping in the room with the WiiFit, so tomorrow will be my day. I'm hoping to lose last week's gain and maybe a little bit more.

:yay::love:Happy Anniversary PrincessBride6205! :love::yay:

Have a great WI day!

Thanks to Mikamah for being last week's coach, and to Eeyore's Butterfly for doing it this week! :cool1:

I won the first COW! Yay! I'm so excited.
This week, I think I might be last place for COW 2, though. :sad2:

I wanted to share one personal fitness triumph that only you guys will probably appreciate. ;) Tonight I planned on doing my intervals of walk/jog on the treadmill as my workout. After my 3-minute jogging interval, I thought, "I can do another minute..." and as each minute passed, I just kept saying that to myself - I really felt like I could do another minute. I ended up jogging for 15 minutes straight at 5.2 - I'm not sure I've ever jogged 15 min consecutively in my life! :woohoo:

QOTD: Weekend plans...
Very excited for DH and my anniversary dinner tomorrow (Friday) night. We're going to the Melting Pot - so that will definitely be my food splurge for the week! I'm going to eat very healthily the first part of the day and try to get in a walk at lunch. We definitely need a night out just the two of us - it's getting harder and harder to find time together w/o DD.
Saturday and Sunday no real plans - maybe hit the huge neighborhood garage sales. Sat nite we are taking DD to a special Sesame Street event at the Children's Museum. Some friends want me to go bowling with them on Sunday evening, incl. dinner - so I'll have to eat before I go, I think.

Way to go on winning the COW and on the 15 minutes of jogging! That's incredible!:cool1: You should be soooooo proud of yourself....we are!

I have always wanted to go the the Melting Pot - have fun!

Keep up the great work everyone! Lets have a great week and next week lets all be losers!

Sarah

Down 2 pounds this week. Down 3 pounds since yesterday lol. Feeling overwhelmed today with life. I just want a day off. I know that won't happen though. Going now to see what else I have to do for my son's financial aid thing sigh.

Friday QOTD: How did you do this past week? Are you happy with your progress? If not, how what will you do differently this week?

Well, this week I lost 1 lb. To tell the truth, I was somewhat disappointed. I really thought it was going to be 2 or 3. Oh well, all of the 1 lb losses add up just the same. I did really good on my eating this week. Did ok in exercising. I am planning on exercising a little harder this week, and adding a little more variety. And I DEFINITELY need to work on my water intake!:sad2: That hasn't been the greatest. I have only been getting in about 3 glasses per day. Not so great, but much better than the big fat "0" I used to drink!

Another thing I am going to do differently is not weigh myself again until next Friday. I think that is why I was disappointed with my 1 lb loss. On Wed. I was down 2 lbs. I don't know what changed, probably water wt or something. Anyway, weighing myself every day backfired on me this week.

Congratulations on winning the COW and on sticking with your exercise. that is hard to do! I hope you have fun on your anniversary.

I’ve had an ok week, I lost ½ a pound, which is slightly disappointing as I was hoping to lose a somewhat unrealistic 2.5 pounds, to get my silver seven from WW. It was my birthday and aside from my birthday meal, I was really good all week including on my actual birthday. One thing I have discovered though is that I eat out way more than I thought I did. I need to work on that.

I am currently using Wii Active which is awesome. It is a far better work out than the Wii Fit and also seems to be more motivating as well. I need to start using my treadmill again. I am going to Centreparcs (UK activity resort) and need to be fit to enjoy it fully.

I know this is not Disney but I love the quote at the beginning of Bee Movie.

Bees don’t care what humans think is impossible.

It reminds me that just because something is hard it doesn’t mean you can’t do it.

This quote saved me after my WW meeting this week, thank you so much. I had only lost ½ a pound even though I had worked really hard. I was ready to throw in the towel and give it all up and then this quote popped in to my head and I knew I just had to keep going. I will get there in the end.

We got married at WDW and at the airport before our flight we were with my in laws. They were still very anti the whole Disney wedding idea, my MIL even asked me if we would have our wedding meal in a food court with other brides and grooms. My FIL said I don’t know why you would want a Disney wedding, I don’t even want to Mickey and Minnie Mouse. No-one in the family had any idea that we had Mickey and Minnie Mouse at the wedding. My family were of the same opinion. This wedding was going to be a joke.

Well on the day of the wedding after the ceremony my new DH and I arrived at Living Seas Lounge (where our reception was being held). Everyone seemed completely in awe of the whole experience. My family kept coming over and saying how amazing everything was, my in laws kept saying that they could believe how wonderful it was and it wasn’t what they had expected at all.

That day I saw my FIL dance with Minnie Mouse with a huge smile on his face and I just knew that we had gotten everything right.

I have a pretty boring weekend of cleaning lined up so it should be quite easy to stay on track. I usually find weekends quite difficult as we always end up eating out.

I didn’t do very well at all this week. Well, I didn’t do too badly but not great. This week I am going to make a concerted effort to exercise more.

Congratulations on a loss, even if it wasn't what you were expecting, and good for you for not throwing in the towel! It's good that you can recognize what you need to work on and have a game plan for next week.

Morning to all you losers!! I am thrilled to report that I am down 2.8 lb this week!! I hit the weekly goal I set for myself and then some! I have been super busy with yard work, house work, etc. so I am sure that all of that moving has helped.

Friday QOTD: How did you do this past week? Are you happy with your progress? If not, how what will you do differently this week?

Well, obviously I am thrilled with my progress this week. I started off slow with the exercise, but I definitely picked it up by mid-week. I ate well most of the week (not including the movie food last Friday). I have to continue to eat well and EXERCISE to keep those pounds dropping off. I have 12 days and 7.6 pounds to get to my original goal of hitting my goal weight by my birthday. I don't think I will make it, but I will definitely be close. And I will NOT give up!

I am going to try and "shake up" my points more this week to try and have another good loss next week!.......................P

Congratulations on your tremendous weight loss. Keep up the good work!

Nice work on passing up those temptations. :thumbsup2 That's a lot for one week.
Happy Birthday, Maria. So cute you have a pamper day. Have fun.

Congrats on the cow!! I'm afraid I might beat you for last place for week 2s cow. Next week will be better. Have a fun anniversary.

Great wedding story. Hang in there with the slow loss, slow and steady, you'll get there.

:grouphug:so sorry to hear that Lisa. I hope you are on the right antibiotic, and you'll be able to make your trip. Still 5 days away, but I know cellulitis can be stubborn.

Today's qotd. Well I am up 2 pounds, no surprise, and this week I am going to journal everything. That will definitely help me. I think realistically for a little while, I'm hoping to maintain overall.

Thank you all so much for the support and inspiration. If I wasn't checking in here this week, I probably would have gained 10 pounds.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Nothing wrong with maintaining. I think journalling will really help. I'm glad we were able to help you stay on track at least some. You have a great positive attitude!

morning -- just popping in to report a maintain -- and along the lines of QOTD -- i left much room for improvement this week and will take it day by day to make the most of my opportunities to burn calories and make better food choices!!

and i  the new clippie!! :thanks:

Good job on the maintain! At least you were gaining. You sound like you have a good plan for this coming week.

Friday QOTD: How did you do this past week? Are you happy with your progress? If not, how what will you do differently this week?

I think I did pretty well this week, considering I was bloated like crazy. Finally, this morning, (just in time) the scale started in the right direction!

I was so happy to see the whole week of staying on plan and exercising every day wasn't for nothing! I'm down 1.4 from last week to this week, which is amazing to me considering the scale was inching up and inching up every day the first part of the week.

Congratulations on the loss! It's nice that after a week of frustration you had a positive outcome.

I did well Yesterday I ate A Taco salad before I walked on my Mom's Treadmill for 30 minutes. I did my weigh-in this morning before I left for work I lost 3 pounds for the week

Good job on your 3 lb loss.

I had a loss this week! :thumbsup2

I am very happy with my progress and will be keeping things very similar this week.

Have a great day! Congrats to all the losers and here's to a great new week to all who didn't lose!

Sarah

Congratulation on the loss!

Pjilla - Congrats on the big loss!
Congrats to all who are still sticking with their plan - we can do it! :yay:

Friday QOTD: How did you do this past week? Are you happy with your progress? If not, how what will you do differently this week?
I have a 0.2 lb loss for the week. But I'm okay with that. I wanted to have lost 5 pounds total in BL so far, and I'm at 4.2 lb total loss - not too far off. I knew this would mainly be a maintain week since I was sick with sinus/cold/allergies for most of the week. I was a teeny bit over calories each day and it was hard to exercise since it hurt just to breathe. The past 2 days I stepped it up and exercised and was under cals. This week I'm going to exercise 6 days (my new-found love of jogging!) and stay under calories - except for today, which is my anniversary dinner and splurge day for the week. :upsidedow

Great job on the loss, even if it was "only" .2 lbs. And 5 lbs in BL? That's awesome!

Thursday qotd- What are your plans for the weekend, and how are you going to stay on track?

We have nothing on saturday, DH has his Guard weekend, so I'll sleep in and maybe exercise and plan a nice family dinner. Sunday we are going to the Nascar race again this weekend - Go Jimmie :woohoo:

Like last weekend we plan on tailgaiting. We even bought a new outdoor table and canopy that we will leave up during the race and come back and cook out again before going home. It really is great because you don't sit in the long line to get out of the raceway when you do this.

This week it's hamburgers on the grill. I'll bring along some of my organic feta for flavor and use some of my Ezekiel bread instead of a hambuger roll.

That sounds yummy. Let us know how it turns out!

I lost 1 pound - I'm happy and I'll take that.

My progress is slower than I hoped but totally normal for me. I'm happy with it - but I had hopped for more. It's not surprising since I haven't been exercising. I'm going to kick up the gear and exercise tons this week.

Good job on the loss, and I like your strategoy of using your Flex Points for more ethnic/exotic foods.

Have a great WI day!

Thanks to Mikamah for being last week's coach, and to Eeyore's Butterfly for doing it this week! :cool1:

Good luck on your WI tomorrow, and dealing with guests. That always thorws me for a loop!

Down 2 pounds this week. Down 3 pounds since yesterday lol. Feeling overwhelmed today with life. I just want a day off. I know that won't happen though. Going now to see what else I have to do for my son's financial aid thing sigh.

Sounds like you need a day to yourself. Hope things become less overwhelming.

1 lb is fantastic! I think your plan to only weigh yourself on Friday is a good one. In studies, those that weighed only once a week did better than those that weighed more often. Your weight fluctuates, even several pound in the same day. That is why it is recommended to weigh at the same time, the same day of the week, and in similar clothes. Hopefully next week won't be so disappointing.

Friday QOTD: I maintained this week. Not great, but not horrible. I figured that I would just try to maintain for several weeks and work on getting my journalling and eating under control. I figured that in the past, much of my problem has been an "all or nothing" mindset. If I couldn't be perfect, I couldn't do it at all. I also have had some rather stressful things happen this week and I am definitely a stress eater.

This coming week I plan to continue journalling and really work on staying within my points .I haven't been doing a great job so far and my WI is on Tuesday, so we will see if I show a loss this week.

Saturday QOTD: What is the biggest obstacle to your weight loss and how will you address it?

I am the same this week. Sorry I didn't get on yesterday. School was crazy. They did a drinking and driving program for the sophomores and I was in charge of a group. We had 2 hours of speakers in the morning. ONe was a trauma nurse and her very graphic pictures. Another was a parent who son went to our school and drove while he was drunk and was killed in a car accident. Then since it was raining the kids got to drive golf carts in the gym while they were wearing goggles that make them feel like they were drunk. Then they got see some cars crashed from different heights to show different speeds. I don't know how the kids are affected but after the mother spoke to the assmebly all of the faculty were crying.

Friday QOTD: How did you do this past week? Are you happy with your progress? If not, how what will you do differently this week?

Saturday QOTD: What is the biggest obstacle to your weight loss and how will you address it?

I think these two questions are very much related. I am not happy with my progress. I am not working out and at times I really did not watch what I was eating I am my own biggest enemy. I am hoping to journal all my food and activities this week to jump start this journey.

On a different note, I went to see UP last night. Dh didn't think it was going to be good so we didn't see it last week. After he talked to ds he changed his mind. We loved it. It is such a touching love story. Any one who has been in love will be touched by this movie.

HAve a great day everyone. I am off to proctor SAT's this morning.

I've not had much time on the computer this week but have tried to keep up with the posts. I maintained this week but will take it over a gain. I know what I've got to do for the number to start moving downward again, it is just doing it...exercise. Once ds's ballgames come to a close in a little over a week life in the evenings will slow down some and allow us to get back out to our walking. I wish someone wanted to go early in the morning with me but no such luck.

We don't have any plans for the weekend, dh and ds are working today installing cabinets they built, dd is babysitting so I'm going to get some chores finished up around the house, check on the flowers outside and the garden, make a few birthday cards and then I'm going to stitch some on a Disney piece.

WTG for all the losses this week and to the COW winner. If you maintained or gained, I'm sure you may be like me and know what you've got to do. Let's make it our week to have even just a slight loss heading in the right direction.

The journalling is a huge help. Hope the week goes well for you. Today at ww two women spoke who had lost 140 lbs and 170 pounds, and they both were talking about cutting themselves some slack, and one said the you don't expect perfection from anyone else in your life, so why would expect it from yourself. It's so true. I'm with you on the stress eating, but I'm really trying to think and focus before I start to eat. Good luck with weighin.

Saturday QOTD: What is the biggest obstacle to your weight loss and how will you address it?
Overeating. Plain and simple, but not so simple at all. Emotional eating is my killer. Good and bad emotions we celebrate with food, eat with stress or sadness. I am going to journal all my food and try to stay within my ww points, and when I go over, not beat myself up. I know that if I journal everything, no matter how bad I was, it is not as bad as when I stop and go completely crazy. I'm also trying to think more before I eat, and to sit down at the table and just eat, not eat while watching tv, or driving. Really focus on enjoying the food, and not mindlessly snacking.

Hope you all have a nice weekend.

Friday QOTD: How did you do this past week? Are you happy with your progress? If not, how what will you do differently this week?

Saturday QOTD: What is the biggest obstacle to your weight loss and how will you address it?

Well, this week I got another gain, this time of 1.3lbs. So, I'm definitely not happy with my progress. I've gotten a little too relaxed with the journalling, so have to step that up. And of course, get into exercising more. I was seeing better gains when I was exercising. The biggest obstacle for me is stress and energy. I want to munch when I feel stressed, so had a few too many little treats this week. And I struggle with being tired, so I don't exercise, which really just leads to staying tired.
This week will be hard, because I've got an exam on Thursday, so I'll be spending all my evenings studying, and probably not getting enough sleep. But I'll get thorugh this week and try to at least get 2 batches of exercising done, plus swimming today.
Gotta run and get ready for the family BBQ tonight. I'm bringing the veggies and some pineapple, and the lean burgers I like, so I will do okay for food.:goodvibes

Good job to everybody who is sticking with it and reporting in!:thumbsup2

Good morning, losers!

Happy Birthday, Maria, and Happy Anniversary, PrincessBride6205 and congrats on winning the COW! :cool1:

Also, a belated but heartfelt thank you to Kathy for coaching last week and to Jessi for coaching this week.

I've been really sick but am feeling better. You know that you are bad off when you are to sick to DIS. :lmao: Baring a miracle of modern medicine, my DL trip on Wednesday is off and I will have to reschedule it. Boo! Hoo! :sad1:

Friday QOTD: How did you do this past week? Are you happy with your progress? If not, how what will you do differently this week?

I lost 3 lbs. last week so I was very happy with my results. I was doing great with my journaling, my activity and flex points and totally in the groove with WW before I got sick. If there is anything good about this illness it is that you are not hungry so I hope I can keep my loss because I cannot walk. I'm down 6.5 since this challenge started and have been meeting my goal of a loss every week so am happy. I just have to stay on track and get to feeling better.

Oh, I did get my 10 pound ribbon back so that is cause for celebrating!

Saturday QOTD: What is the biggest obstacle to your weight loss and how will you address it?

My biggest obstacle to weight loss is ME. Me not eating right, me eating too much, me not exercising. But I feel like I am doing a good job of turning that around now. Journaling my food is a big, big help. I think if I don't write down every bite and log every activity that I underestimate what I ate and overestimate the benefits of exercising. How will I address it? I am going to get back in the groove and plan my trip to DL. :thumbsup2

Have a great day, losers!

Good Afternoon!

I never made it to reply yesterday, but I did report my 2.0 lb loss, so I'm a happy camper.

Thank you to everyone for all the birthday wishes! :grouphug:

Friday QOTD: How did you do this past week? Are you happy with your progress? If not, how what will you do differently this week?

I am happy with my 2 lb loss this week and my progress to date. Of course it could be more, but it could be less, too! :lmao: This week is my no holds barred, totally going for it, weight loss wonder week. We leave for our vacation the 18th, and this is my last chance to push out those pounds! This week I am going to use every opportunity to be active. I am going to watch my food with an eagle eye. I am going to drink enough water to sink the Titanic. I am going for my big milestone, and I am going to get it! :woohoo:

Like many other people, the biggest obstacle to my weight loss is me. I've been trying to address it by thinking differently about food, consciously noting when I'm eating and what, and accepting that I am a diabetes case weighting (yes, in my condition it should be spelled like that) to happen -- so if I don't get my act together there are serious medications in my near future, and I am not a good patient, so...I have no choice but to lose the weight. It is no longer optional :sad2:

Maria :upsidedow

Saturday QOTD: What is the biggest obstacle to your weight loss and how will you address it?
The biggest obstacle for me is "real" healthy eating. For nearly my entire life I've limited my fat intake, drank 6-8 glasses of water, and enjoyed fruit, snacks like pretzels, etc. But I have a major sweet/carb tooth, don't like veggies and am an emotional eater. Those are my life-long challenges, but lately I've had the added challenge of lots of business trips, which means dining out every meal for 4-5 days at a time, 1-2x a month. My first few trips I felt like I should take advantage of the company-paid meals and enjoy myself, but my last trip I ate really well - and still went over my calories. It's hard to guess what calories are in a lot of the foods, but I'm trying. I've been doing better with not stress eating, but I still like to "celebrate eat." The biggest thing I'm doing to address everything is count calories and doing the BL! ;)

Happy Birthday, Maria, and Happy Anniversary, PrincessBride6205

Saturday QOTD: What is the biggest obstacle to your weight loss and how will you address it?

My biggest obstacle is not exercising. I will overcome this, but I just can't figure out why I won't just do it. To address it - I just need to do it!

Good morning, losers!

I am glad you are feeling better but so sorry that you are going to have to reschedule your trip. WTG on getting your 10 pd ribbon back too!!:cheer2::cheer2:
