BL Summer Challenge 2009

This weekend will be lots of fun!!! I am going to work, I work every 3rd weekend and this is it. :) Oh well after Tuesday I am off for 6 nights so it is all good. It is pretty easy to stay OP at work b/c I take my lunch and sometimes if we are really busy we don't even have time to stop and eat, which can be hard for a 12hr shift.

Hope everyone has a great weekend:yay:

Jennifer

My plans for this weekend are to finish buying items for vacation and take ds to a blow-out birthday party on Saturday; Sunday is my "birthday pamper day". My birthday is actually Monday, but my fellas have informed me not to make plans because they have declared it my "Birthday Pamper Day". It sounds good to me! In order to stay on track, I'm going to drink plenty of water, make sure I do my workouts, and if there are treats, eat small portions.

Do you do not have to do the entire COW. You can do bits and pieces of it that work into your plan. It is just there to motivate you and to help you think about developing new habits. THis will be a progressive thing. As the weeks go on I will be adding to these new habits

Is everyone ready for tomorrow's WI- I am. The scale is down, but it's not quite at a pound yet. I hope it drops a little more, but even so it's a new number and I like that :)

I enjoy reading blogs and today I joined the blogging world. I created a blog about my weight loss journey using Clean Eating and also about living a greener life (for the environment) - with a little dash of travel and adventure thrown in.

http://cleangreenadventures.blogspot.com

Also - I love reading Blogs about healthy living -especially ones with great recipes. If anyone has any to share- I'd love to check them out. I loved the one someone posted the other day priorfatgirl. I enjoyed reading it.

I am looking forward to weigh in tomorrow also! I have done really well with my eating this week. But still have a lot of room for improvement on my water!:scared:

I have exercised most days this week, and even on the days that I didn't exercise, I still managed to log enough steps on the pedometer to count those days on the COW, so I feel pretty good. I hope the scale reflects how hard I have tried this week!

Earlier in the week, I passed up donuts and pigs n blankets at work. Then yesterday, most the girls from work went to eat at the mexican restaurant in town, but I passed. Then today, some M&M cookies were brought in. I looked at them, they were 130 calories, and really quickly I decided they didn't look worth it, so I passed on them. I am really amazed at how quickly it is becoming easier and easier to pass up on these foods. OH! This morning the Dr. I work for bought everyone Hardee's breakfast, but I didn't order anything! I had raisin bran cereal at home. Much healthier! :thumbsup2

Thursday qotd- What are your plans for the weekend, and how are you going to stay on track?

Saturday I work, and I have my niece's birthday party to attend. Sunday is all mine!
I plan on staying on track by relaxing and eating in. It's going to be a nice change from this week!

Good evening Losers! I will be your coach for this coming week!

Friday QOTD: How did you do this past week? Are you happy with your progress? If not, how what will you do differently this week?

I won the first COW! Yay! I'm so excited.
This week, I think I might be last place for COW 2, though. :sad2:

I wanted to share one personal fitness triumph that only you guys will probably appreciate. ;) Tonight I planned on doing my intervals of walk/jog on the treadmill as my workout. After my 3-minute jogging interval, I thought, "I can do another minute..." and as each minute passed, I just kept saying that to myself - I really felt like I could do another minute. I ended up jogging for 15 minutes straight at 5.2 - I'm not sure I've ever jogged 15 min consecutively in my life! :woohoo:

QOTD: Weekend plans...
Very excited for DH and my anniversary dinner tomorrow (Friday) night. We're going to the Melting Pot - so that will definitely be my food splurge for the week! I'm going to eat very healthily the first part of the day and try to get in a walk at lunch. We definitely need a night out just the two of us - it's getting harder and harder to find time together w/o DD.
Saturday and Sunday no real plans - maybe hit the huge neighborhood garage sales. Sat nite we are taking DD to a special Sesame Street event at the Children's Museum. Some friends want me to go bowling with them on Sunday evening, incl. dinner - so I'll have to eat before I go, I think.

I’ve had an ok week, I lost ½ a pound, which is slightly disappointing as I was hoping to lose a somewhat unrealistic 2.5 pounds, to get my silver seven from WW. It was my birthday and aside from my birthday meal, I was really good all week including on my actual birthday. One thing I have discovered though is that I eat out way more than I thought I did. I need to work on that.

monday qotd- What do you do for exercise? How do you keep motivated to keep it up?

I am currently using Wii Active which is awesome. It is a far better work out than the Wii Fit and also seems to be more motivating as well. I need to start using my treadmill again. I am going to Centreparcs (UK activity resort) and need to be fit to enjoy it fully.

SIZE="5"]Tuesday qotd= Do you have any inspirational quotes you think of to help you keep on track when there are temptations, or you just aren't feeling motivated?

I know this is not Disney but I love the quote at the beginning of Bee Movie.

Bees don’t care what humans think is impossible.

It reminds me that just because something is hard it doesn’t mean you can’t do it.

Tuesday qotd= Do you have any inspirational quotes you think of to help you keep on track when there are temptations, or you just aren't feeling motivated?

I don't know if this is considered an "inspirational quote" but the other day while walking, it was time for me to do my jogging segment. While jogging I just kept thinking of Dorey saying "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming" then I just kind of transformed it in my mind to just keep running, just keep running.

Sort of silly, but it worked at the time!:rotfl:

This quote saved me after my WW meeting this week, thank you so much. I had only lost ½ a pound even though I had worked really hard. I was ready to throw in the towel and give it all up and then this quote popped in to my head and I knew I just had to keep going. I will get there in the end.

Wed qotd- What is one or more of your favorite disney memories?

We got married at WDW and at the airport before our flight we were with my in laws. They were still very anti the whole Disney wedding idea, my MIL even asked me if we would have our wedding meal in a food court with other brides and grooms. My FIL said I don’t know why you would want a Disney wedding, I don’t even want to Mickey and Minnie Mouse. No-one in the family had any idea that we had Mickey and Minnie Mouse at the wedding. My family were of the same opinion. This wedding was going to be a joke.

Well on the day of the wedding after the ceremony my new DH and I arrived at Living Seas Lounge (where our reception was being held). Everyone seemed completely in awe of the whole experience. My family kept coming over and saying how amazing everything was, my in laws kept saying that they could believe how wonderful it was and it wasn’t what they had expected at all.

That day I saw my FIL dance with Minnie Mouse with a huge smile on his face and I just knew that we had gotten everything right.

Thursday qotd- What are your plans for the weekend, and how are you going to stay on track?

I have a pretty boring weekend of cleaning lined up so it should be quite easy to stay on track. I usually find weekends quite difficult as we always end up eating out.

Friday QOTD: How did you do this past week? Are you happy with your progress? If not, how what will you do differently this week?

I didn’t do very well at all this week. Well, I didn’t do too badly but not great. This week I am going to make a concerted effort to exercise more.

Morning to all you losers!! I am thrilled to report that I am down 2.8 lb this week!! I hit the weekly goal I set for myself and then some! I have been super busy with yard work, house work, etc. so I am sure that all of that moving has helped.

Friday QOTD: How did you do this past week? Are you happy with your progress? If not, how what will you do differently this week?

Well, obviously I am thrilled with my progress this week. I started off slow with the exercise, but I definitely picked it up by mid-week. I ate well most of the week (not including the movie food last Friday). I have to continue to eat well and EXERCISE to keep those pounds dropping off. I have 12 days and 7.6 pounds to get to my original goal of hitting my goal weight by my birthday. I don't think I will make it, but I will definitely be close. And I will NOT give up!

I am going to try and "shake up" my points more this week to try and have another good loss next week!.......................P

Nice work on passing up those temptations. :thumbsup2 That's a lot for one week.

Congrats on the cow!! I'm afraid I might beat you for last place for week 2s cow. Next week will be better. Have a fun anniversary.

Great wedding story. Hang in there with the slow loss, slow and steady, you'll get there.

Well, I am supposed to be getting ready to go to DL on Wednesday for a few days but that is up in the air now due to a bad cellulitis infection in my foot. It sounds like I may be sent to the hospital for i.v. antibiotics today. The good news is that even though I had to stay home yesterday and keep my foot elevated on the hammock that I didn't eat anything OP so I still lost weight even though I had no activity points. If the numbers stay for tomorrow, I will be down 2.5 pounds and get my 10 pound ribbon back. :cheer2:

Have a great day, losers!
:grouphug:so sorry to hear that Lisa. I hope you are on the right antibiotic, and you'll be able to make your trip. Still 5 days away, but I know cellulitis can be stubborn.

Today's qotd. Well I am up 2 pounds, no surprise, and this week I am going to journal everything. That will definitely help me. I think realistically for a little while, I'm hoping to maintain overall.

Thank you all so much for the support and inspiration. If I wasn't checking in here this week, I probably would have gained 10 pounds.

Have a great weekend everyone.

So sorry to hear about the infection. :guilty: What a bummer. Hopefully it will get cleared up and you can head to the Happiest Place on Earth without delay!

This weekend I will be playing Mah Jongg with my mom and aunt on saturday and working some overtime sunday and a full double on monday. I am hoping to get into the gym sunday morning since I won't get to monday night. As far as staying OP we have lots of fruit and veggies in the fridge and some easy on the go meals in the freezer so I should be good to go.

I did the walk yesterday which ended up being a 5K! We walked just over 3.5 miles even though it was in the mid 80's outside. I had fun getting to know some other people in the group and it was beautiful down by the marina where we walked. I actually feel pretty good today except for one small blister!

Sarah
Nice job on the walking. Sounds like a nice time was had. Have you ever tried the Bandaid brand blister bandaids. They work GREAT. Have a super weekend playing Mah Jongg.

Thursday qotd- What are your plans for the weekend, and how are you going to stay on track?

My sister and her family are coming from Ohio this weekend for a visit! So, I'll be cleaning like a maniac until they get here! Then, Sunday we're going to the beach. There is this big sandcastle competition on Saturday but on Sunday the crowd is gone but the sandcastle stand (for the most part). I love going to the beach the day after the sandcastle contest!

I grocery shop and meal plan for two weeks at a time, so staying on track while they're in town isn't a problem.

I am having a very frustrating week because I have stayed on plan, no cheating and I have worked out every single day. I have also gained two pounds. What gives? :headache: I am telling myself it's because I'm gaining muscle and because I'm bloated. But I'm still pretty ticked about it. Ok, had to vent. I'm good now.

I totally get the "cleaning" stuff. My parents are arriving today and I cleaned for 14 hours yesterday!! (I didn't think my house was that dirty :confused3)

Sorry to hear about the frustrating gain. Don't let it get you down. Don't eat into it! It will be GONE next week.

Sorry to hear you have to work, but it sounds like you have a good attitude about it.

Maria :upsidedow

Have a GREAT Pamper Day! You are so lucky. My family thinks that they are pampering me when I only have to cook and clean up from one meal that day. They just don't get it sometimes.

Well, Saturday I will continue to pack up my apartment in preparation for my move in June. On Sunday I'm going to St. Louis to see Rent with my friend at the Fox theatre. Two fo the original cast members will be performing!

I'm jealous about the Rent performance. I've always wanted to see that show. Have fun with the packing. I actually ENJOY packing. It is like cleaning and organizing all at once... and I really like things to be clean and organized (unfortunately I live with the three little pigs!).

I love to read, but I already spend so much time reading the Disboards, that I am scared to venture out. But if I have some reading time next week I will give your blog a peek. Thanks for sharing.

I am looking forward to weigh in tomorrow also! I have done really well with my eating this week. But still have a lot of room for improvement on my water!:scared:

Wow.... I admire your will power. I could have passed up the donuts (don't like them) and maybe the cookies. But the mexican would have been SO hard. And good job on passing up Hardee's... you did your waistline and your heart a BIG favor!! Raisin Bran ROCKS!!

I’ve had an ok week, I lost ½ a pound, which is slightly disappointing as I was hoping to lose a somewhat unrealistic 2.5 pounds, to get my silver seven from WW. See how we can encourage each other here?? That is so terrific that you thought about that quote from a "friend" here on the Dis and you decided to keep going. That is what we are all here for, right? Did you talk to your WW leader about your frustration.

Glad to hear some more positive reports about the Wii Active. I actually had it in my shopping cart a few weeks ago and put it back. I was waiting to hear more about it. Pretty much everyone who has commented on it has liked it, so maybe I will splurge next week and buy it.

Glad we could help! Isn't it great that we have this "meeting place" to come to when we need inspiration and encouragement? I definitely know that the challenges here have kept me going when I wanted to just quit. To me the WISH board is like an "anytime, drop-in" WW meeting. Lots of people to talk to, lots of encouragement and great ideas. Just what I paid WW for over those many years!!

Plus, truth be told, I don't really have any close friends IRL, so I don't really have anyone to share this weight loss journey with. DH is a great guy, but struggles with his own weight issues and is not at all helpful when it comes to healthy eating.... he is a terrible "enabler" when it comes to bad eating. And I don't want to talk my Mom's ear off about WW all the time. So it is nice to have "like minded folks" to come talk to over here...............P

morning -- just popping in to report a maintain -- and along the lines of QOTD -- i left much room for improvement this week and will take it day by day to make the most of my opportunities to burn calories and make better food choices!!

and i  the new clippie!! :thanks:

Friday QOTD: How did you do this past week? Are you happy with your progress? If not, how what will you do differently this week?

I think I did pretty well this week, considering I was bloated like crazy. Finally, this morning, (just in time) the scale started in the right direction!

I was so happy to see the whole week of staying on plan and exercising every day wasn't for nothing! I'm down 1.4 from last week to this week, which is amazing to me considering the scale was inching up and inching up every day the first part of the week.

Friday QOTD: How did you do this past week? Are you happy with your progress? If not, how what will you do differently this week?

I did well Yesterday I ate A Taco salad before I walked on my Mom's Treadmill for 30 minutes. I did my weigh-in this morning before I left for work I lost 3 pounds for the week

I had a loss this week! :thumbsup2

I am very happy with my progress and will be keeping things very similar this week.

Have a great day! Congrats to all the losers and here's to a great new week to all who didn't lose!

Sarah

Pjilla - Congrats on the big loss!
Congrats to all who are still sticking with their plan - we can do it! :yay:

Friday QOTD: How did you do this past week? Are you happy with your progress? If not, how what will you do differently this week?
I have a 0.2 lb loss for the week. But I'm okay with that. I wanted to have lost 5 pounds total in BL so far, and I'm at 4.2 lb total loss - not too far off. I knew this would mainly be a maintain week since I was sick with sinus/cold/allergies for most of the week. I was a teeny bit over calories each day and it was hard to exercise since it hurt just to breathe. The past 2 days I stepped it up and exercised and was under cals. This week I'm going to exercise 6 days (my new-found love of jogging!) and stay under calories - except for today, which is my anniversary dinner and splurge day for the week. :upsidedow

Thursday qotd- What are your plans for the weekend, and how are you going to stay on track?

We have nothing on saturday, DH has his Guard weekend, so I'll sleep in and maybe exercise and plan a nice family dinner. Sunday we are going to the Nascar race again this weekend - Go Jimmie :woohoo:

Like last weekend we plan on tailgaiting. We even bought a new outdoor table and canopy that we will leave up during the race and come back and cook out again before going home. It really is great because you don't sit in the long line to get out of the raceway when you do this.

This week it's hamburgers on the grill. I'll bring along some of my organic feta for flavor and use some of my Ezekiel bread instead of a hambuger roll.
