Since I am the Blue Team earlybird and I have no shame I will start this weeks thread. Captain PRINCESS VIJA (VIJA) is attending her seminar today "fighting fat after thirty". Hopefully she will return with things to share with us. Co-Captain Eeyores Butterfly (Jessi) is preparing for her teaching licensing exam. Afterwards she will celebrate with fellow students with a pot luck and Bar crawl. (Bar Crawl??? That's a new one to me, gee I am an old fart!) Good luck to both of them and may they enjoy healthy food choices along the way.

Don't forget to report your weight to me. PM me or email to brenda@kbelectric.biz. If you are late that is OK. Just report as soon as you can no matter what your weekly results are.

Now let's get to work. Have you checked out this weeks COW? It is very doable and I am committing to finally get my 100. I know you can too. Wouldn't it be great to have Blue win it for this one. I bet all the other teams think they can 100 too, let's show them that we are #1.

Here's the COW. Copy it now and get to work. Or visit here for more info.

BL COW Week 10

1 Complete 150 minutes of exercise this week (that is only a half hour for 5 days) (2 points for every 10 minutes- max 30)

2 Research a new healthy way to cook a Thanksgiving food and try it. Consider bringing it to the festivities. (15 points)

3 Spend some "me" time this week (take a bath, read a book, whatever you find relaxing)(5 points for every 20 minutes- max 30)

4 Plan a trip or visit with a loved one that lives far away. Make it a point to actually follow through. This may mean planning a summer 2009 visit, but at least they know you want to see them. (10 points)

5 Discuss with the group tips on how you fit in activity every day particularly with everything going on over the holidays (15 points)

Next business is QOTD. Vija posted yesterdays late and we got no responses. It's a good one and we need to discuss it today.

Now let's take a fun twist and add

QOTD Friday: If you could stay anywhere on Disney property, with no worry about expense, where would it be and why?

No time to answer now. I need to get this posted for you all and I am hungry. Off to breakfast. I'll be back!!!

Have a healthy day!

Thank you Brenda for starting this thread and good luck to Princess Vija and Jessi today. I lose 2 pounds this week. I got on the treadmill 6 times this week for either a 2 or 3 mile walk.

ThurQOTD-I plan on eating a good breakfast, then drinking a lot of water before our lunch on Thanksgiving day, maybe this will give me a full filling. We go to my parents on Thursday, then DH's family on Saturday - so I will have to use the same plan both days.

FridayQOTD-I'm actually about to live out my dream in a few weeks. I've always wanted to stay at the Grand Floridian and be able to see the Christmas decorations and the gingerbread house. Back in February I was lucky enough to get one of those 40% off the room rates, so I booked the GF. I booked garden view, I would love to have been able to afford the concierge level, but I'm excited to have a garden view. Another exciting thing is that I was able to book a room for my parents also. I'm so excited for all of us to be together at such a wonderful time of the year. So to answer the question, GF in the main building would be my ultimate dream.

Hope everyone has a great Friday - Lisa.

I lost 2.5 pounds this week- back on track!

Melanie's exercise challenge last week really got me going and I did even better this week than last on my exercise bike. Thanks! :worship:

For Thanksgiving I need to fill my plate with the lean turkey and healthy veggies and try to control myself on the starchy stuff/bread etc. My biggest problem is all the cheese and snacks before and after- hmmm...

My Disney dream-let me think on that money no object part :rolleyes1

Hi Blue Team! I lost 3 lbs this week!!! I'm very, very happy with that.

Congratulations to everyone else who had a good week also and to those that didn't I hope that you continue on this journey with us and have a better week this week.

QOTD Thurs: It's sad to say but I really haven't put a game plan together yet. Of the top of my head, I think I will stick to turkey and vegetables and only have a little tiny piece of dessert. I'm cooking this year which should help me because usually when I spend all day and night cooking I don't feel like eating it...

QOTD Fri: Well given the news I received this week, I gave up on my dream to stay at the Poly. I so wanted to hang out on the beach with my kids and watch the fireworks at MK in the background. Oh well, hopefully things will start to turn around and maybe I can take advantage next year.

I hope everyone is having an OP day! Take care of you!

Leanne

I was down 1.5 lbs this week, I was hoping for a little more but it is what it is.

Congrats to others that have had a successful WI this week. My plan is to watch my meals closer this week and make sure I get more veggies and fruit in the mixture, not enough of that last week. It has also been raining the past two days so no walks outside. Hope to get one in today and then will be walking alot tomorrow - we're going to a Carolina Panther's game and we opt for free parking which means walking a little more but a great way to get some extra exercise in:).

QOTD Thursday: Let's exchange ideas about strategies to handle Thanksgiving Day.

I'm going to lean more towards veggies and not casseroles, only one trip to the table...dessert usually isn't a problem to ignore but if I feel something calling, I will get just a very small piece and be satisfied. I'm going to fill up on water before hand too.

QOTD Friday: If you could stay anywhere on Disney property, with no worry about expense, where would it be and why?

Polynesian would be my choice - the first time we visited in 1999 we stayed off property, I remember us riding the monorail and saying the next time we come to Disney we are going to stay there...well when it came time to plan our trip and we priced it out, the All Stars won out:rotfl: . I love the decor there and would love being on the monorail line. Maybe one day:thumbsup2 .

Let's have a great weekend Blue Team...where is everyone at???

Hey Tammy, have fun at the game. I haven't been to a game in about 10 years. I live close to Raleigh, and rarely make it out that direction. I go to a few Hockey games a year, and the parking prices keep rising. They are $10 this year. Good for you to walk, I don't blame you.

Last night my Sunday School class got together to assembly shoe boxes for Samaritans Purse. After we boxed up 121 boxes (yeah) we ate. They ordered pizza, and I didn't eat a single slice. I brought a chicken breast and a sweet potato. It was weird, I didn't even want any. I ate my chicken and was very happy.

I got up this morning and got right on the treadmill. I wanted to go ahead and get my 2 miles done so I can do other projects today. I hope everyone has a good day - Lisa.

Hey everyone, I had a great time at the seminar. I have to go and read through the syllabus they gave us, and organize my notes. I did learn some interesting things, and I promise I will get back to you after I organize my notes.

I was up a pound this week:sad2: But on the good side, I already put in 1/2 hour of exercise this week.

OH... one big thing I learned, and some of you may already know this was about yo-yo dieting. I know they always said it was bad for you, but I never knew exactly why.

When you loose a pound you loose 75% fat and 25% lean muscle. BUT when you GAIN that pound back, you gain 90% fat and 10% lean!!! So overtime, you change your body composition and increase health risks with higher fat volume in your body.

Lots more interesting facts to come...

Lisa - Good for you on taking your chicken and sweet pot. You planned ahead and it worked - WTG.

We are looking forward to the game (a few weeks ago we were given tickets, I had so much fun, I ask if we could buy tickets and go back and DH said yes), so it is just the two of us while the kids stay with grandparents for the day. It may be a little cool with the wind but at least they aren't calling for rain. Some of the parking places we walked by were charging $40...where we parked on a road that allows street parking, there was a lot to pull into right by our van and they were getting $10, walking a bit won't hurt us and we can use that money saved toward the tickets. We haven't been to a hockey game since the Greensboro team left, would love to go, but just haven't done it yet.

Have a great Sunday everyone!!!

Hi everyone! The exam is over with and the bar crawl was fun. Now it's back on track (hopefully).

I am entering week 4 of being sick, so I am calling my doctor tomorrow and making an appointment. I'm coughing real bad so I haven't been exercising. In fact, one of my professors who came on the bar crawl with us asked me last night if I was still sick and said he couldn't believe I've been sick this long. I've also been experiencing some stomach issues and I'm hoping to get that sorted out as well. I haven't been eating well, partly because I just have not had the energy to care. This semester sucks. :( Hopefully I can get into the doctor tomorrow or Tuesday and get everything sorted out.

Eeyores Butterfly - Sorry to hear you are still sick. Yes, make that appt today and hopefully you'll get some relief soon!!

Eeyores Butterfly, I hope you feel better soon! Hope you can get in to the doctor and he/she can help you out.

QOTD for Mon: Name some things (non weight loss) that you have been successful at in the past. How can you utilize strategies that helped you succeed then, into succeeding at weight loss now.

I've been feeling a little bit better. Last 2 days I went for nice long walks. But I was on call on the whole weekend, and it wasn't very restful. Oh well, next weekend I am not on call!

QOTD: I have been successful at many things in the past. School for one, I love getting good grades and I graduated with honors. Then there are the little things, completing scrapbooks, decluttering, etc. I think the strategies that I can use are being focussed, and setting small goals and steps. And especially working together with a support system. I'll have to think on this one some more... I am sure I can think of other things.

Monday QOTD-I am a good planner, a good organizer and good at saving money. Each month I take out a certain amount after we get paid and move it into different savings accounts. One for the house (extra payment at the end of the year), one for vacations and one just save for an emergency. Me and DH don't make a lot of $ but if you save correctly, it adds up over time. I think my good organizitional skill are helping me loose weight. I have a plan for what I'm going to eat each meal for the week. I make a grocery list so I can stick to that plan and I usually don't stray too far from my plan. I buy the things on my list, then choose each night what I want the next day. I also have been trying to make a plan for exercising. This is a little harder, it seems sometimes when you get home from work, there are too many other things to do besides exercise.

I hope everyone is having a good day - Go Blue - Lisa.

Hi ladies!!! I'm back!! I was banned for about two wks for some stupid stuff, so I'm sorry for letting you guys down. I don't know if I'm still on your team. Starting over again!!! I hope all of you have continued your success.

dare2dream---I can't instant message right now; didn't know it was a priviledge to do that, so I can only get to you by posting here.

Hi everyone!!!! I am sorry I haven't been around lately... missed a few weigh ins... still maintaining... I'd love to lose this last 6lbs or so... I'd still have plenty of flubbery on me but I feel better at 134. Anyway, I will try harder to be around.

hobbester, I like to plan too, I think that sometimes I overplan and set myself up for failure. I think I need to break it down into smaller steps. Just like you said, small savings add up over time.

Glad to see some returning members!

Tuesday QOTD: What are some other reality shows that you watch, and why do you like them?

Tuesday QOTD: What are some other reality shows that you watch, and why do you like them? [/QUOTE]

I like to watch Amazing Race, Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader tryouts, Girls Next Door, and Apprentice. I used to watch Survivor, but I just got so busy on Thursday nights, that something had to go. I guess I like Amazing Race because I love to travel, and it is neet to see where the contestants go. Cheerleaders, because I used to be a cheerleader in HS and love to watch the dancing, Girls... well I think because that world is so very different than mine, that I find it fascinating, and Apprentice because I like to see how I would do things and see how their different strategies work.

Tuesday QOTD: What are some other reality shows that you watch, and why do you like them?

Survivor is the only other one I watch besides BL. I never watch them in real time, they are always recorded and then I watch them when I have a few minutes (love not having to sit through commercials:) ).

:goodvibes :goodvibes When it's on, Hell's Kitchen!!!! I absolutely LOVE Gordon Ramsey!!! I like Kitchen Nightmares, but not as much as Hell's!!!:goodvibes Oh and EMHE: Extreme Makeover Home Edition, The family that was on this past Sunday was a family from my hometown of Toledo!!! It was awesome!!! And, as usual, I bawled like a baby!!! That show is truly inspiring!!!:goodvibes

Tuesday QOTD-My favorite is The Amazing Race. I love to watch them travel to places that I probably will never visit. My 2nd favorite is Survivor. I like to watch the games - but not so much when they start bad mouthing one another. This year has not been too bad so far. I still can't decide who I think will win yet though.
