BL 3 - Red Team week 4

My goal for this weekend is to get some exercise and try not to eat any cake at my niece's bday party on sunday! I feel like my will power is getting better. I did great with eating yesterday until dinnertime. My DD had a basketball game and we ended up going to a Mexican rest (groan!!). I ate way less than i would have in the past. We just shared an appetizer and i tried not to eat too many chips! It was tough! Today is going great so far. Good luck this weekend!:thumbsup2

hi there RED team! i just wanted to let you all know that i edited the team challenge to hopefully make it more clearer in scoring here -- please post any questions on that thread directly and WTG on last week's challenge!!

Hi Brenda. My points for last weeks challenge were correct. They didn't need to be revised. :)

I'm off to the USA this weekend for some shopping. The good news is, I'm travelling with my 2 sisters who are both on the BLUE team, so hopefully seeing them keep in check will force me to do the same. :goodvibes

My exercise is going well this week. I did have to stop during my powerwalk today and stretch for about 10 minutes ... my shins were killing me. Worked like a charm, though. ;)

Have a great weekend everyone ... and remember ... ONWARDS and DOWNWARDS. :goodvibes

HEY....do we get to grab the challenge winner clippie???

.....I'll report in tonight....just stealing a moment at work to catch up on posts.

.

Brenda - sorry have been busy all day at work, first chance I got to do this.

Have a two day trial next week.

My points do add up to 75.

My slight weight gain (1.5 lbs) was annoying because I did a 5k race last Sunday, but I ate Chinese food on Monday and have been PMSing all week, so that could have been a factor.

As for today's question, I will admit that I am doing this primarily for me - but the team brings great support and accountability. I just don't think we need to win to "win".

As for exercise - I got 2.5 k in yesterday and hope to get a walk in on Sunday. It is hard because we are leaving town for a family wedding tomorrow. On Monday, I will be back to training schedule (cross train Monday at gym, 2k at track on Tuesday) - I do another 10k on October 13th.

It is hard for me to balance food with exercise - but I am working on it. Follow WW online at this point.

Have a great day folks.

Linda

Hi folks. Just realized I hadn't posted my exercise challenge plans here. I am now powerwalking several days a week at lunch with friends. We're doing better than 15 minute miles, so it's been great cardio. We have all agreed to plan for a 30 minute walk, but if work and life schedules allow us to go longer, we will go for 50-60 minutes. :goodvibes

Wednesday: this was my "rest day" but I did a 30 minute "stroll"
Thursday: 60 minute powerwalk - planned for 30 :cool1:
Friday: 50 minute powerwalk followed by 10 minutes of stretching - planned 30
Saturday: shop-till-you-drop day ... I'll get in plenty of walking, not at break-neck speeds, but that's OK. Hoping to do some laps in the pool tomorrow night as well.
Sunday: 30 minute powerwalk with stretching afterwards
Monday: 30 minute powerwalk with stretching afterwards
Tuesday: 30 minute workout in the gym ... time to get back on the machines

I spent a lot of time working on a hobby. A WHOLE lot of time.

Thank you to ALL the members that participated and helped to earn this victory. It sure does taste sweet doesn't it? We can now all add the special challenge winner clippie to our signatures. Unfortunately I can not even begin to instruct you on how to do that. The clippie can be found here. I hope you techno geniuses can figure out what to do with that. The only reason I got it done is that I had the clippie in a file on my computer. I have NO computer skills at all.

Now remember when it comes to WISH Biggest Loser weekly team challenge #1
The RED TEAM is #1

Great job Red Losers, Keep up the good work.

Cherylp3 (Cheryl), I sent you a PM. I have not had a response to my email to Biggest Loser central. Here are my personal thoughts. If your stretching at Curves totals 10 minutes then after two sessions you have earned 5 points. You may have to add stretching to your regular routine to equal 10 minutes for the stretching to count. In my mind cardio is exercise that gets your heart rate up for an extended period of time. A regular walk will not do this. A 'powerwalk' with arms pumping and feet flying would qualify as cardio, I think. I hope this helps. I will let you know when I hear from anyone about this.

jimmduck (Linda), Thanks for checking in. It is good to hear from you here. There is never any need to explain a gain to anyone here. Life happens. The peculiar workings of our womanly hormones can never be explained.

ibouncetoo (Jackie), Glad you found your clippie, it looks good on you. Thanks for helping to earn it.

maryliz (Mary-Liz), Have a great weekend with your sisters. Unfortunately I am not very close with my two sisters. It is one of my greatest regrets right now in my life. I know sisters can sometimes be annoying (especially when they are Blue) but love them anyway and give them an extra hug and appreciate the joy they bring to your life. May I ask your sisters screen names? It is so fun to connect DISers that are related. ONWARDS AND DOWNWARDS - I like that.

Nursejilly (Jill), Congratulations on your resolve to have no cake at the party on Sunday. Tonight is my sons finance's first wedding shower and I KNOW I will have a piece of cake. I have no willpower. I do promise my team that I will not overdo it with all the other stuff that will be there. Jill, Good job at passing up the excess chips at the Mexican restaurant. Chips and bread before the meal can really just be mindless overindulgences that we don't really even concentrate on or enjoy. Isn't it great that our new healthy lifestyles help us to make better choices in such situations? Keep up the good work.

Nancy (Nancy), Thank you for your regular contributions on our threads. I always enjoy visiting here and hearing your thoughts. I know with hard work you will be able to get to onderland for your romantic trip to WDW in April with DH only. What a great goal and what a great reward it will be to enjoy everything the world has to offer knowing how hard you worked to get there. You have done this before and I know you can do it again, but this time will be different. This time it will be permanent because you will change habits for a lifetime.

MagicalMom (???), Thanks for sharing that interesting website. That's what I love about the DIS, there is so much information here. We are here to help each other and share things that help us on our weight loss journeys.

Mermaid02 (???), I like your new motto 'fit and forty'. I am going to adapt it for me too 'fit and fifty". The big one is coming April 09. We can do this!! Let's get healthy.

bridgetgabbie (Robin), Thanks for sharing your exercise plan for the week. I know you are not making it up, and I know you will do it as scheduled. You have inspired me. I really need to work on mine.

Red Team, I love you guys and am glad to be here on this journey with you. We can all help each other and help our team by stopping by here to visit and encourage other. Also come here to brag on your accomplishments. I love to hear your success stories. They inspire me to think that I can do great things too if I put my mind to it and try my best.

Have a healthy day!

It is a gloriously beautiful day here in Maryland. I hope it is lovely where you are too. I hope everyone is out enjoying the day and not succumbing to unhealthy habits.

I am wrapping the shower gift for DSs fiancee. I got her a nice stainless steel canister set and ss measuring cups, spoons, and also 4 c, 2 c and 1 c glass measuring cups. I hope she needs all this stuff.

I am off to finish wrapping. Before I leave I am going to cut up my celery and tear my lettuce that I think I said I was going to do on Thursday.

I am not going to eat like a pig at the shower. I want to make my red team proud. I know I can do it. I hope they have a veggie tray.

Have a healthy day!

My motivation for losing weight is my girls. I have 2 little girls and I want them to see a healthy mom who is a good influence on them.

I downloaded The Biggest Loser theme song Proud and I must say that was a GREAT motivation on my run today. It came on during my mile uphill that usually really slows me down and I continued my normal pace. It almost made me cry. Oh and "I Run For Life" by Melissa Ethridge. Wow, what a great motivating song to keep running!

Robin

Wow, I was #5 for the first challenge! Woo Hoo!:woohoo:

This week I won't be entering the challenge (I know, I know...but I just don't exercise at all right now)

Hitting onederland by April! Oh my, that would be awesome! I came so close the last time I did WW, but the weight is coming off slower this time. BUT maybe that is a good thing. Slow and steady is always good. I've lost amost 14 pounds in 8 weeks. If I can double that in another 6 weeks I'll be happy.

Well, I just worked a 12 hour shift, drove an hour home & then walked for 45 minutes. I figured I would write out my workout plan before hitting the sack.
My plan has stayed the same since May.

I usually get one hour of walking, dancing, jogging in a day. I do it in 20 minute intervals. I just do whatever I feel like but I can't stop for 20 minutes. I also lift weights daily, just 5 lb hand weights & do 30 situps atleast once a day. I also do yoga / pilates daily. I always try to get one hour of exercise in on my workdays (Sat. & Sun.) but there are days I only get 2 20 minutes sets in.

I seem to lose inches faster than I lose pounds. Sorry guys. :)

Hi Red Team, I apologize for not checking in all week...I just got back from a week at the beach last night! I did pretty well most of the week with my eating choices and even managed to sneak in some exercise. I'm not expecting a big loss (or any) this coming week - but that's usually what happens when I'm on vacation. My biggest challenge comes now that I'm back - getting back into my healthy habits (counting WW points, exercising, etc.). I tend to stay in vacation mode too long and gain even once I'm home. So today, I started counting my WW points again and am going for a run. Here's my exercise plan for the week:

Wednesday: none
Thursday: walked 45 minutes, ran 15
Friday: none
Saturday: none
Sunday: run 3-5 miles, stretch 10 mins (will do intervals to make it vigorous-extra points!!)
Monday: workout video - weights, stretch 10 mins
Tuesday: workout video or run

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend! :)

How are you doing Red Team? Are you exercising? Are you eating healthy? Tell me everything.

Red Team question of the day

I have had a bad weekend, a bad week in fact. This is so hard and I am discouraged. What do you do when you get discouraged? How do you stay motivated?

Me first - I have nothing to contribute here. I am at rock bottom. I'm going back to bed, what I do when I'm depressed. Hopefully when I get up again the world will look better.

Have a healthy day!

Morning Red Team...:cheer2: Back from Disney...did not do Free Dining, thankfully :rotfl2: :goodvibes ! Spent the week on crutches and in a wheelchair...good for me and I feel good enough to begin walking with 1 crutch today at the cemetary!:goodvibes I was bad in that I drank hardly any water, watched kind of what I ate---portion wise, and I began drinking diet soda again. I did find I was unable to drink more than 1/1 to 1 full soda at a meal though. This was good for me as I usually drank 2-3 each meal in Disney:scared1: . So I am back on track today, got my bottle of water right next to me and praying I either break even tomorrow or do not gain more than a pound! Just caught up on all of the thread and I am doing this for me but I am very much a team player and want to see us ALL succeed. Heck I am not even totally mortified any more knowing that I am looking at losing a whole person :scared1:, I know that I can do it! GO RED!!!:cheer2:

First of all  :goodvibes ...when I feel like that I try to get up and clean soemthing in the house that will make a difference with little effort---vacuum a floor, do the dishes, clean off a counter, etc., take a walk, leave the house and walk around a store like Target or something, watch a good movie and allow no guilt for sitting---that is a tough one for me, or I call a friend just to say hello. I hope your week gets better...I know how a bad day can make a bad week, I spent 3 of 5 days in tears, yes real tears in the parks!!! :goodvibes :wizard:

Good Monday morning. :) We had a great weekend away, although that included some pretty great food. :rolleyes1 My 2 sisters had the same creativity as me when it came to their screen names ... Debbie and NancyK :lmao: We are truly best friends and I love them very much. :goodvibes

Brenda ... hope you're day brightens ... I completely understand. But I liked the advice of another teammate ... get up and do something, anything, that you can consider an accomplishment. When I get this way, I make up a "to do" list ... and if I do something that wasn't on the list to begin with, I add it only to scratch it off. :rotfl: When I'm feeling unmotivated, the "list" works wonders for me.

Forgot to bring my Disney refillable mug for my water today .... off to buy a bottle of water that I can refill many times today. Have a great one, team. And remember to get out there for your vigourous workout, including an extra 10 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of stretching. gotta get those points ... I just added the winner clippie to my signature, and I don't want to give it up this week. ;)

First thing you need to remember is 1 bad day/weekend/week doesn't make you a bad person. You just need to sit down and wrap your head around what you want to achieve with this journey and get back into it. I did WW a while back and lost weight, but that time when I would gain a pound or 2 it was like I gave myself permission to eat bad and get way oof track. NOW, with WW again if I gain weight it makes me mad! I get angry at myself and basically slap myself upside the head and get my brain back into a good place. So, feel sorry for yourself for 1 day and then try to move on. Like I said 1 day, 2 days or even 7 days is still easy enough to get back to program.

MaryLiz, your sister was as creative as me! My sister also posts on the boards and she was super creative too! (her screen name is Barb)
