BL 3 -- Blue team week 8

Hi teammies:yay: I seem to be struggling a bit this week. I am hungry ALL THE TIME. And not just that I'm bored so I'll eat something, but grumbly in my tumbly hungry!! I had a bad food week last week, with the b-day/anniversary etc, but have been back on the wagon. And maintaining my exercise. But I feel like I'm starving all the time. I am keeping up with my H2O (about 6 bottles/day). Hoping this is some new metabolism thing and it will pan out and cause me to lose more!

This weeks challenge is an easy one for me. The exercise is no problem.

Complete 150 minutes of exercise this week -- max 5 pts

Seperate from your regular workout -- take a walk (minimum 10 mins) 5 times this week -- 5 pts max

Complete three 45 minute cardio workouts this week -- max 10 pts -- 3 workouts of 45 mins = 5 pts; 6 workouts of 45 mins = 10 pts

Share with your team in the team weekly thread what your favorite form of exercising is (biking, running, powerwalking, yoga, etc) and why?? -- max 5 pts

Share with your team in the team weekly thread what struggles you have overcome in making exercise a part of your routine? work schedules? burn-out? family responsbilities? Inspire others who face the same challenges! -- max 5 pts

So my favorite form of exercise would be running. Why? Because I feel strong when I run, like I can do anything I set my mind to. That "runners high" is great. It burns mad calories. Its free.

Struggles in making exercise part of my routine: Well, time is an issue, as it is for most of us. With my job, my daughter and her activity (she only does TaeKwonDo), my DH and our "hobby" (we do a podcast about cruising) and all the other "stuff" :laundy: there just aren't enough hours in the day. But I made the commitment to myself to get healthier, so now I get up at 5:30 am (and I am not a morning person at all) to exercise 4 days per week. I no longer feel guilty going to the gym on Sat or Sun morning to work out, because if I don't take care of ME, I can't take care of any one else. DH is really good about it, and sometimes I do feel like I have things to do at home that I should be doing instead of working out. But my house will never be museum quality clean, and who care's anyway? If I die because I didn't get healthier, are people going to say, well at least her house was really clean? NO. Whats a little dust and cat fur anyway?;)

I hope everyone is having a good week and we can make a huge comeback for next week. I have faith in all of us.

Good Morning, Everyone.

Well the weekly challenge is up and I am going to try my hardest to get as many points as I can.

So here I go:

My favorite form of exercise is walking and playing tennis. I love being outdoors in the summer so walking is a nice change from doing the workout videos. I just started playing tennis this summer and by no means am I any good but I just love to play and have fun!

The struggles I have overcome in making exercise a part of my routine is just motivating myself to get up and do it. Some nights I am so tired and don't feel like exercising but I force myself to do so and I feel better about it after I do. Of course your normal things like work and life get in the way but we all have to just find the time to exercise and take care of ourselves.

Have a great day everyone!

Michele

Complete 150 minutes of exercise this week -- max 5 pts

This should be easy, since I workout about 75 mins most days (1 - 30 min workout & 1 - 45 min workout)

Separate from your regular workout -- take a walk (minimum 10 mins) 5 times this week -- 5 pts max

This will be a little tougher but I am comitted to completing all tasks in this weeks chllange

Complete three 45 minute cardio workouts this week -- max 10 pts -- 3 workouts of 45 mins = 5 pts; 6 workouts of 45 mins = 10 pts

Again since I do 45 min workouts already this should be easy

Share with your team in the team weekly thread what your favorite form of exercising is (biking, running, power walking, yoga, etc) and why?? -- max 5 pts

I love walking outside but I think Leslie Sansone’s “In Home Walking” is my favorite. Her new walk slim with interval’s and her 3 Mile Weight Loss walk with the “Mary Kay Mile” really kicks butt. I like these workouts because they not only have aerobics, most also include light strength training. Really gives a 1, 2 punch.

Finding time is my biggest struggle. I had to change how things worked. I had to commit to working out in the evening, because mornings are out of the question. This was (and still is sometimes) hard. It means I have to come home and start dinner as soon as I walk in the door. It also means that I lost my TV time between 7 - 8pm when I used to watch Days of our Lives. Another obstical that I am working hard to overcome is work schedule. There are times where I work 12 hours (8am - 8pm) makes it hard to fit in workouts. On these days I do my best to make sure to get my AM walk in. Even though this is my easiest & shortest workout it is important to me to get exercise in every day.

Oh my, we posted a gain. This week will be ours! Every time the BL contestants post low numbers, they follow it up with huge losses the next week. That will be us too!

I'm looking forward to this challenge. I have already got 150 min of cardio in, so far this week. How are all of you guys doing?

My favorite exercise is doing the elliptical. I have issues with my hips and knees. It is low impact, really gets my hr up, and has a high calorie burn. I always feel like I have accomplished something getting off that machine.

My biggest challenge is time restraints. I have to be up at 530AM to get ready for work. After work, it is the homework, dance lessons, dinner, bedtime routine. I either have to get up at 4AM, or exercise in the evenings. It is rough. I do my long resistance training routine on Saturdays after WW. I usually do 60 minutes of cardio then as well. During the week, I split upper and lower body resistance workouts to decrease the time each day. I had to tell DH that this was a priority for me, and he needed to step up and help me out around the house more.

Have a great weekend everyone.
Beth

Okay Blue Team, after last weeks results, we have to push through and claim our place at the top. DO NOT let life's little downs get the best of you.

I just finished my 3rd 45 mins workout and have completed more than 150 mins. I am struggling with getting in the extra 10 mins of walking in. I know I won't get it in today because of work, I am not allowed to leave and I am training today and tomorrow. But i am set to compelte all other tasks and the get the second 5 points for the 45 min workouts.

Ok Blue Team,

Where is everyone? Let's start posting and supporting each other around here. Otherwise, Vija will kick our backsides when she gets back.

Hope all is well.
Beth

Hey Blue Team!

This has been a bad week for me. I only worked out twice and I did not make the best food choices. Hopefully it will not be another gain this week!

I hope you all had a better week then I did.

Good luck with the WI tomorrow!

Michele

UGH. Me too Michele. The scale is not being kind, although I have been good with my exercise, food choices have been poor. I am cracking down today and being super diligent on my plan.

I only have 75 days until my next cruise, and I was hoping to lose 30 lbs before I go. I've lost 4.6 so far, but I don't know that I can knock off 25 lbs in 75 days. Especially with the holidays. But I am gonna try my darndest.

Hope everyone else is doing better. I am gonna get all the points on the challenge this week, and am hoping to post some sort of loss tomorrow.

Have a great day everyone!!!

:surfweb: :upsidedow good morning all

i apologize for being so MIA the past couple weeks, we have been running :moped: running :car: running :drive: . there is so much to see and do suddenly when you have a guest new to America :mickeyjum

veronica -- i don't even want to talk about dust bunnies and :dog: fur! in fact i have someone i know through a mutual friend who housecleans coming to quote me for once a month cleaning -- i have decided i'd rather work a few hours to earn the money to pay someone else to scrub my shower! pathetic huh??!! but i'm with you. life is toooo short to fret about dust! now the clutter drives me bonkers though.

i understand your runners 'high' but i think i beg to differ about the sport being free :goodvibes :confused3 :rotfl2: shoes, wicking socks, nylon shorts with panties built in, mp3 player, biofreeze, GU, more shoes........:rolleyes1

michele -- tennis is a sport my DH has always wanted us to learn to play! maybe next summer! i admire you for getting those workouts in late in the day, that is tough!!

disneychrista -- you the machine girl! i didn't know WATP had an interval workout, i'm into intervals right now. and what is a mary kay mile? makeovers while walking? :rotfl2: jk  i  your attitude about exercising!

beth -- another to admire for fitting workouts into a hectic routine! i'm starting to feel like i'm a whiner compared to what some of you gals do in the name of fitness!! 4 a.m. - -WOWSER!

ok -- i'm struggling this week too! i ended up taking the entire week off last week of exercising, i just needed it. my hips/legs were sooooo sore mon/tues that i couldn't fathom it. by the end of the week and two PT sessions my shins were back to more normal, but my lower back had kicked in. i guess i really pushed it last Sunday :upsidedow i'd do it again in a heartbeat. if anyone wants to see my photos go to www.columbusmarathon.com and click on order my photos -- my last name is Marshall and my BIB is 546

today i hit the TM for 45 mins and stretched. tomorrow i think i may try an early morning spinning class and then wednesday another 45 on the TM to complete that task. i did not get the extra 10 min walks in, sorry guys! i can get the 150 mins in though, including stretching after my 45 min workouts.

ok my favorite form of exercising you all already know -- powerwalking. i started walking when i developed tendonitis in my right foot from running. i never really liked running i just like the results and participating in 5k events. in 2005 i completed my first 1/2 marathon and was hooked. i love love love the feeling of accomplishment when i cross that finish line after 13.1 miles on my own two feet!

struggles -- i get burned out at times and depressed when i don't see the weight loss results from all the time and effort. sometimes i think i should just jog again but i know bouncing from one thing to another is not the answer. what i put in my mouth is.... somedays i just want to NOT have to fit it in my week like so many, almost like i envy NOT having to think about. i have to snap myself out of it with thoughts like, 'it really is just 45 mins, just do it and be done with it' and 'you know you feel soooo much better after it's done, mentally and physically' and it's all true. that and the knowing that my cholestrol, blood pressure, etc are lower because of the workouts

and i apologize that i have not yet posted our team's biggest losers from last week -- what the heck was i thinking???

ReAnSt..........0.99%
LaLaroo78......0.96%
Geekerbell.......0.81%

:cheer2: :cheer2: GREAT JOB!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Wow, seems everyone else has been as MIA as I have. Is it just the holiday season getting closer and everyone getting busier?

I know the next couple of weeks are going to be busy for me. My oldest two DS's both have November b-days, so parties, family coming over, goodies to bake for classrooms and the parties. And, of course, I have decided that I really need to paint the hall bathroom before family comes to visit. What am I thinking?:scared1:

I have been on track with food for the last week. Only one day I splurged, and even then my calorie count was still under 2000. So I should definitely have a loss tomorrow morning. My exercise has been off and on. And I'll have to go back and look at the challenge to see if I got points. Sorry guys.:sad2:

Hope everyone has a great Monday!:flower3:

Hello Blue Teamers - I have been on vacation for over a week and TA DA I didn't gain a pound. :rotfl: I had a disneyland plan that included a popcorn:: one day and a carmel apple the next but in the end I lost two pounds during the trip. So for the two weeks I am down 3.8 - hoping that I don't gain any tonight before weigh in tomorrow. And how do I know my weight on this Monday morning you ask - I was obsessed and got out the scale at 2:30am when I couldn't sleep. I am a bit nuts when it comes to the scale - but I can get better :)

I think we are going to have big losses this week. I can feel it :woohoo:

Wow, Sasha! Losing weight while on vacation?!!
You totally rock!:cool1:

disneychrista -- you the machine girl! i didn't know WATP had an interval workout, i'm into intervals right now. and what is a mary kay mile? makeovers while walking? :

Leslie's new Walk Slim series contains interval training, fast walking combined w/ 2 mins of jogging. Mary Kay is one of her regular walkers, who was also one of her teachers before her fitness studio closed. During the 3 mile Weight Loss walk Mary Kay lead a mile of high intensity walking. An d in a way walking does give your BODY a make over, so .... ;)
