I can say I already made some good choices! I went to the store and had a can of staxx chips in the cart, I thought about my new plan and put it away!:cool1: VERY proud of that!:thumbsup2

Ok, the incentives are tied to insurance as well as a bonus available

It is tiered
1st tier is signing up and getting a health eval by an MD ($2 of the monthly insurance employee portion)

2nd tier, all the above + living a tobaco free life ($10 off the monthly employee portion of health insurance)

3rd tier is the bonus!!!

This is more involved, includes all the above + exercising, weight loss (or maintaining healthy weight), healthy blood sugars, blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and some others I can't remember right now...

the benefits...

It goes by points, each thing above is worth so many points.. if you exercise for the full amount you get all the points, for partial amount you get partial points...

1st level of FUll points $400 AND you get your name tossed in for a disney Vacation
2nd level of partial points $175
3rd level of partial points $50

THAT IS FOR SPOUSES AND EMPLOYEES! So I do the program and I get $400
DH does the program he gets $400, so together we get $800!!! Plus a reduction of our insurance costs by $120!!!!!

It is a great program, and I plan on taking advantage of it!:thumbsup2

Vija - I am so proud of you!
I've been where you are and found I just couldn't live with someone else's plan for the long term. And when I realized that and made the decision to pave my own way, as you are doing, that is when it felt more "real" to me. That this was something I was going to do for me and I was going to do it my way!
Your DH's incentive program sounds great! My DH has something similar where he works, but it is only for employees, no spouses.:confused3

I missed the Oprah show yesterday, but this afternoon while the kids are napping, I have been on the website reading through all of the success stories. It has really been inspiring! A few months ago I was at the point where I was begging DH to let me have weight loss surgery. Then I found WISH and all of you here, and it it was inspiring. And then to see people who have lost even more than I need to lose, completely on there own with no medications, surgery, etc. It's amazing! I'm feeling totally pumped up!

I think I've mentioned before that I was thinking of leaving my current gym (since I never go) and joining Curves. Well, I have really been thinking it over and about long term goals and what I will want from a gym in a year or two years, and it probably makes more sense financially for me to stay where I am at. (Of course it would be better if I would actually go!:rotfl: ) So I had though about possibly using a personal trainer to get a routine going. I called, and holy cannoli! $85 - $115/hour. Unfortunately there is just absolutely no way I can afford that right now. So now I am tempted to go with my original plan of switching to Curves. Ack! I'm so confused!:confused3 Advice anyone?

thanks for the words of wisdom and encouragement. I know this is the right way for me, and I am proud of myself! I'll be looking to you for words of wisdem!!! the oprah show was phenomenal! Glad they have the info up on the website. Very motivational. As to curves or the gym, I can't really say, I have not been to curves. But whatever you choose, just make yourself go, you will feel so much better!

Hi everyone!

Well things aren't going as well as I would hope. I finally got back on the treadmill today, as I am still battling this cold. I ran sprints and felt pretty good. My eating, however, has been out of control. Not eating terrible foods, per se, but just eating too much. I am really trying to get back on track, but being sick just makes me want to eat more. Can't wait to get rid of this cold.

Vija- Good for you!!! Not every plan is for everyone and if its not working for you, then do something that does work for you. Small changes can lead to big successes, so keep that in mind.

Geekerbell-I don't know much about Curves, but I know that a lot of women seem to go there. But my question to you is, if you don't go to the gym now, will you go to Curves? Is it the atmosphere at the gym or time to go? I would hate to see you switch and not go either and miss the old gym and want to go back. We use the Y since DD does Y-Time after school program, so I have to pay for the membership regardless. I just have to get my fat booty over there!!!

Hope everyone else is doing well. I know lots of us are busy with the holidays coming. We are doing our picture today for our Christmas cards, which I have made out already. Most of the shopping is done, only a few things left to get. We gave FIL one of his gifts yesterday, a cell phone. And we gave DH's grandma her gift of a new winter coat. She is 85 and has Alzheimers pretty bad, so we bought a couple coats and took them to her to try on. She and Grandpa chose one which she then did not want to take off!!! It made us feel good to give her something she really needs and seems to like. You never know how she is going to react/act at any given time.

We are in for some "weather" today-snow and then a wintry mix. All through today and into tomorrow, making tomorrows commute and absolute nightmare!!

Hope everyone is doing well!!

Hi everyone :wave2:

I did horribly last week, hence the 3 pound gain, but I seem to be back on the right track. I'm down 2 pounds so far since my weigh-in on Tuesday morning.

I have a question for all of you: Have any of you had your hair start to fall out while on a weight-loss program? For the last 2 months I've been seeing several hairs falling out, every time I run my fingers through my hair, plus I'm finding several hairs on my shirt/shoulders throughout the day. I don't really notice any thinning of my hair when I look at my scalp, but it's scary to see so many hairs fall out each day!

I just had blood work done on Friday, and I'll see my doctor on Wednesday. I know one thing that I have not been doing is taking a multi-vitamin every day. I take it when I remember, but that's only a couple of times per week. I know that not enough protein will make hair fall out but I'm pretty sure that I get adequate protein each day.

I had a VERY, VERY stressful couple of days 2 months ago, in addition to the stress of having to very quickly learn my new job at work (it was a big promotion and I love my new position at work, but still stress is stress), so I also wonder if it's stress related. I don't really have any more stress now, but maybe it's a delayed reaction?? :confused3 I don't know, so I thought I'd mention it here and see if any of you have ever experienced this before.

It really seems like many of us are struggling with getting back on track these days. I know that when I look back over the last month, it was basically a lost month, as far as weight loss goes. I never did get back down to my pre-cruise weight yet, but as of today I'm 4 pounds away from that. I can have those 4 pounds off in about 2-4 weeks as long as I stay on track. Not to mention the additional 40 pounds I still want to lose! LOL

Anyway.... I hope everyone is doing OK. I have read through the thread and I really do sympathise with so many of you right now.

Vija: Out of curiosity I decided to Google "Diet comparisons" and honestly none of the web sites I went to had all good things to say about any of the diets, except Weight Watchers. Personally, WW is NOT the diet program for me, South Beach has been working wonderfully and also my own doctor had recommended it. So try and not to get down if a program sounds like a good fit for you but some web site knocks it.

Vern: Hi! Looking forward to chatting with you later tonight! :chat:

Geekerbell: I'm so glad that you didn't opt for weight loss surgery. I know that it has its place and some people truly need something as drastic as that, but I know from experience how good it can feel to take your health into your own hands and finally find the correct/healthy way to eat, and that results in weight loss and better nutrition for your body.

ohMom: I hope your cold is better soon.

To everyone who isn't feeling well right now: I can commisserate with you! I think I may have a bad sinus infection  Just one more thing to ask my doctor about on Wednesday. lol I hope everyone feels better soon! :grouphug:

LaLaroo: Hi! I really need to get back over to the other thread. :surfweb:

MIDanceMom: I hope your heat is back on now!!! :cold:

Debbie and ReAnSt: Congrats on maintaining when so many of us were gaining!

hi guys -- i thought i'd come and search some crockpot recipes for the team challenge this week!

and stop by -- we had a holiday party here last night -- all went very well but we have lots of leftover goodie! ack!!

trying to focus on accomplishing chores off my to-do list and drinking water not the leftover cheesecake!

VernRDH, that was a very heartwarming story with your DH's grandma. I love giving special gifts, and how great that she loved her coat!:goodvibes How did you handle the yucky weather? We were ok, I was worried about DS because he was coming home from a scout outing during the yucky part, but they made it home safe and sound! Thank God! (and believe me, I did pray and thank God when they came home safe and sound, I even wanted to cry from joy!

SeaSpray, Hope your stress level will decrease soon! Regarding the hair loss, I know my friend suffered from that when she went on a very calorie restricted diet. Do you think your getting in a well rounded, nutrient wise diet? That is where I would look. I wonder if it is a mix of the 2? Taking that multivitamin will definetely help!

OhMOm, hope you are gettin that to-do list checked off! It isn't easy to do sometimes. I often put on way to many things, then get frustrated when I don't get it all done. I think I should put on 1 thing and then call it a day when it is done!:rotfl:

Hey everyone, this week I am going to focus on not eating 2 hours before bedtime. That will be a good goal for me! Hope everyone had a good weekend and geared up for the week.
