What was the final straw that got you going? - A band trip to Disneyland (that never happened :( ). I knew I was going to have to share a room with another mom and that idea didn't sit well with me. I made a goal to be under 200 pounds ( I was 237 at the time) by the time of the trip 6 months later. I reached and exceeded that goal.

How did you view the long road (i.e. lots of pounds to loose) - I took it one day at a time, just like I do now.

How did you find motivation through the whole time - I view this entire processes as a lifestyle not a diet or something that I am going off of at some time. And the funny thing is I HAVE TO exercise now. When I miss more than one day I start feeling bad.

Advice for someone trying to get going (and keep going) ((ahem... me ;) ) - take it one day at a time. Set up mini-goals and reward yourself for reaching them. Don't set yourself up for failure by eliminating things from your life/diet that you can live with for the rest of your life.
And in the end you have to find out what works for YOU. Because no matter how much weight somone has lost doing on thing or the other, if it won't work for you, then it won't work.

What program are you doing, and how "on" have you been since you started (how strict) - I haven't really followed any typcial program. When I first started I journaled everything I ate. I set my calorie intake to be about 1500, but never under 1200. I added veggies and fruits. I swap higher fat items for lower fat items where possible. I have not eliminated any foods from my diet. I may LIMIT them or modify them. I get light cheese on my pizza and non-fat mocha's.
For me I feel that the exercise is the key that has helped me keep going. My normal routine includes a 30 mins in the morning before starting work. I then do a 3 or 4 mile WATP workout in the evening 5 -6 days per week.
