On my last trip, I was about to get into my doom buggy with my travel companion. However, the person who was directed to get into the doom buggy in front of me became very confused, and said "there is no room". He then shoved my friend aside and climbed into the doom buggy with me (abandoning his travel companion who was in the buggy in front). I am still confused whether he thought a CM had directed him to climb in with me.

Horrified by the prospect of spending 8 minutes alone in the dark with this random guy, I quickly got off and my friend and I took the next doom buggy..this whole thing happened in the space of 30 very confusing seconds. That could have been incredibly weird!

Has anything like this ever happened to you? It was a first for me!

People get confused quite a bit, I think.

The last time I rode BTMRR, they were filling 2 trains worth of people into the waiting area. I was a solo rider and I could tell the women waiting behind me didn’t speak English. I thought for sure that both of them were going to get into the next train with me. I got in and pulled the bar down super fast. Sure enough, they were trying to get in with me. The CM kept trying to get them to step back. They eventually got the message. That would have been quite an uncomfortable ride for me had they managed to get in. There’s not enough room for 3 adults in one of those cars, let alone strangers!

No, but my mother had someone SIT ON HER LAP in one of the big theater shows several years ago. It was at the point where everyone is slowly walking down the row trying to figure out which seat they will be in as the row is filled. My mother was the last in our party and the woman behind her jumped the gun in figuring out which seat was hers. No sooner had my mom sat down than the lady behind her plopped down right on top her. One would think someone would apologize for something like that but no, instead the woman gave my mom a dirty look as if she had done something wrong.

I had a young man try to get in with me & DD on BTMRR. We were seated when I see him raising his leg to get in. I threw out my hand said, “uh, uh, NO!”, then made a shooting motion with my hand. . My DD & DH (who was in the seat behind us) died laughing at me.

A family of 4, who obviously did not have a command of english, proceeded to get in with our group of 3 on the Safari in AK. I tried to motion to them that they should get on the next vehicle, but it did no good. Cast members completely missed it. It made for a very cramped, uncomfortable safari.

This happened to me on Splash, except they DID get in, I made a look at the CM, and the CM was like "lol no" and told them to get out.

I was single rider once on ToT. There was a guy in front of me in line the whole time who kept turning around to face me whenever the line came to a stop. I would just step back and turn my face, or play on my phone. Finally we get to the front and the CM goes to assign him a number. He tells the CM, there are two of us. The CM looked at me confused, and I said, "um, no I'm by myself". I think the CM could tell that the guy was being creepy, so he placed me on a different numbered line. Very strange!!

My fiance and I were cramped with another couple in the last row for POTC. It was very cramped. They were told to wait for the next boat but I think (hope) they misunderstood.

Yuck

DD and I had a hitch hiker jump in our vehicle on the People Mover. We had to sit across from him that whole long, quite ride. We just made the best of it and struck up a conversation. :teeth:

To me, what really stands out in the OP's story is that the stranger in question shoved the friend aside! This should be grounds for expulsion from the park, at the minimum. I would have reported this stranger ASAP.

I rode with a stranger on BTMRR once. He didn’t speak English and didn’t understand that he was supposed to wait for the next train. He got in next to me and I had a confused second of protest. But he looked so happy and seemed innocent enough, so I said “what the heck? Why not?” and let it slide. And then we slid into each other for the next few minutes. Lol. It was weird, but makes for an interesting memory. And now I’m hyper aware of the potential for confusion in rides like that one and I look out to make sure that the person or people behind me understand to wait. I’ve had to tell people “you’re on the next one” a time or two though.

I've ridden with a stranger on BTMRR before. I don't mind on riding with a stranger as long as there is room. But when they try to squeeze more than what can fit.... ugh.

My sister had something similar happen on Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. She was riding with my (then) 14-year old son who has Asperger's. He has issues with strangers getting too close to him, but he's totally fine with family members. DH and I were riding with our younger son. When we left the Stretching room, the hallway to the Doom Buggies was packed and the crowd was barely moving forward. Then another Stretching Room opened, and more people were added to the chaos. It seemed like the rooms just kept emptying and the area just kept getting more crowded. When we finally reached the boarding area, DH, younger DS and I got into a Doom Buggy. Older DS and my sister boarded their behind us, and then we noticed the CM basically pushing a man in with them. Apparently he was a single rider, and because the crowd was so backed up, they said that he wasn't allowed to ride alone.

I kept glancing over at them during the ride. The man was basically squished right up next to my sister, who was squished up next to DS. Those seats are not meant to fit three adult-sized people! My sister said it was a very uncomfortable experience. No magic there! When we got home, I wrote a email to Guest Relations, saying that while I understand they had to keep the guests moving through the ride, forcing a strange man next to my sister was not cool.

On that same trip, our party of five was riding Buzz Lightyear. DH was the odd man out and said he would ride alone. He didn't care if they put another single rider with him. So when we boarded, the CM tried to get him to board with DS and me. Again, they wanted to put three adult-sized people in one vehicle built for two. DS pushed back a little and the CM said, "It's crowded today. Two or three in each car." I said, "But there are only two guns. So one person doesn't get to play?" The CM relented and let DH ride by himself. Again, I understand that they need to move people through, but waiting in line for 45 minutes, only to be told you have to cram in to a vehicle and not get to play the game is not very magical.

Did you get a response? That is incredibly bizarre to me. HM is just NOT a fun ride to go on with strangers squeezed next to you. And ditto with the buzz lightyear ride...that doesn't even make any sense to force someone to go on without a gun?

Wow! Hopefully that CM was very misinformed about correct procedure - that makes no sense at all to not let one person have a gun on Buzz.

This exact same thing happened to me except they DID get in! The CM said something but they didn't understand her and she just let it pass. It was pretty uncomfortable. My kids were in the row in front of us; if I'd known I was going to ride three to a seat I'd have just ridden with them!
