This was the first vacation that DH and I have ever taken without the children. It had been in the planning stages for several months. We were able to get in on the great rates at Downtown Disney Marriott and found really affordable airfare also. It was as if this trip was "meant to be". So I was off and planning the honeymoon that we never had, 15 years later.
We were scheduled to fly out of Nashville on Sept 22 and even with everthing that happened in New York we never lost site of our goal to have a perfect trip. During the last week before our trip I lost a very close Uncle to cancer and on the last evening of his visitation, at the funeral home, I found out that a cousin had been killed in a motorcycle accident. At this point I was just about to give up on the trip and stay home but DH felt that I needed the time away more than ever. As always, he was right!
We left as scheduled, with out hearts heavy, but we were determined to have a wonderful time and to catch up on just simply enjoying being with each other. So here we go:
Sept 22:
Flew to Orlando on the 7:15 Delta Express flight. The flight was uneventful but as we flew it was very difficult not to wonder what it must have been like for all of the people on the highjacked flights. I said a multitude of prayers for those souls and their families.
We arrived on time and were taken to our hotel by Mears shuttle. We were able to check in at 10:30am. They had to change our room twice but they were very gracious and helpful. We ended up with a balcony room that overlooked the pool. We went downstairs to buy our park tickets and were talked into sitting through one of those timeshare sales pitches. we had nothing planned until dinner so "why not??" I made DH practice saying, "NO...NO..NO!!". I was very proud of us when two hours later we had 2 park passes and NO timeshare payment!!!
With the money we saved we decided to make reservations for Cirque (more on that later).
We returned to the hotel and got dressed for dinner at Boma. Since we were using Disney transportation we decided to take a cab to the lodge and ride a bus back to Downtown Disney after dinner. Dinner was as wonderful as everone has said in previous posts. We were not dissapointed at all. After dinner we road the bus to Downtown Disney and walked around a bit. We were planning on catching the bus from Downtown Disney back to the Hotel but we sort of forgot to find out where the bus picks up. So we had a wonderful walk back to the hotel. We held hands and talked about things other than work, or the kids, or the bills(I'm sure you all understand what I mean). It was nice just to be US!! You've just gotta love that Disney Magic.
