morning guys,
Have decided to upgrade our dd 7 to an adult:lovestruc, we now have more options to play with, and are considering a trip to BdF, a few questions-
Is it worth the 2TS? (we are also doing V&A and CG next trip,)
is the restaurant child friendly? my kids would love the menu choices (sophisticated tastes...)
any other info would be gratefully recieved, of all the reviews ive read, i dont think ive seen it mentioned so im a bit curious.
I should probablt mention dh is French, and used to be a head chef, we did CDF 3 years ago (before free ddp) and were disappointed especially with the service and there attitude to our younger kids, that is not the way it is done in paris, we know :cloud9:
thanks for your help

hi there,

there are 2 different restaurants in the French pavillion in Epcot; one is called Chefs de France and the other Bistro de Paris.

Chefs de France is the restaurant downstairs and is more casual; it is on the DDP and is a 1 TS establishment.

Bistro de Paris is upstairs, and is more upscale and open only for dinner. It also does not participate in the DDP at all (they do accept the Tables in Wonderland card).

I was considering booking there recently, and by doing a search of Bistro de Paris, I did find some very nice reviews on the Dining reviews board here. Check it out - most had pictures too!

GL!

I have a review in my February report, the link is in my signature.

As mentioned previously, Bistro is not on the DP.

I loved Bistro and think it's a great meal. I'm not sure I would encourage children. Of course you know them best. It's a longer meal. I know my parents would have taken us when my brother was 7 and I was 10 and expected us to behave and we would have. I would say that if you are bringing a child, I would do it earlier rather than later as it is more of a romantic restaurant, which becomes more apparent the later you get. Plus, it does have a bit of a dress code. While some folks might ignore it, I wouldn't suggest it. It is inside of Epcot, so you have to consider whether or not you're willing to wear something nicer throughout the day or if you'll have time to head back to your resort & change.

2 adults? I'd recommend it in a heartbeat for a romantic dinner. With a kid? I might wait until she's in her teens just so the longer dinner isn't so long, it's not really a "let's get up and walk around" kind of place. But as I said, you know your kid best, at that age, I was accustomed to those kinds of meals and it was expected of me. It's not of all kids.

Not only is Bistro not on DDP, but it does not have a Children's menu. It is a hint that children are discouraged. This is a place that you should allow at least two hours for dining.

i am not worried about them, they are used to sophisticated restaurants - we eat out alot at home and they know how to behave, especially my asd ds - eating our is his fav thing to do:lovestruc
however, i dont fancy paying oop for another restaurant, we are going to do v and a, hopefully Chefs table, and couldnt justify another expensive restaurant.
thanks for the info, we look into it closer to the date.
thanks

forgive me, but are you planning on doing V&A w/your child(ren)? If I recall, there is an age limit, and I don't believe children under 10 are allowed to dine there.

nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2:
whilst im sure they would both appreciate and enjoy it, mommy and daddy will be celebrating their wedding anniversary, most definetly , on their own!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
we are going to (try!) to put them into the kids club and the GF, i think a night off will do us good!! all of us:lovestruc
tracy
they will be coming to the CG with us though, thats our "trade off", both my boys love good food - how many kids do you know who ask for asparagus on the side of the kids meal??
at LeC last year, and Boma, the chefs came out to check on my food allergies and were amazed at what my kids were eating/wanted.
the chef at LeC sent my ASD son out asparagus on the side of his steak, extra bread stick, soup (we didnt ask or pay for it), they were both excellent.
my kids have very adult tastes in food, which is great when we eat out, but costs my a fortune at home...

I think having an adult's only meal at V&A is a good decision for you & your hubby as well as your kids. I'm sure they'd like it, but it's one of those that they'd appreciate if they were older. The kids clubs around WDW are awesome, especially the one at the Poly!

DD is like this, too. She is an adventurous eater and a mature girl (now, young teen). She really likes elegant restaurants. However, I don't really want to have to pay for 3 adult meals at BdP out of pocket! LOL, we'll just do something more casual.
