In '99 my mother joined us and it was her 60th birthday. We took a seating in the Liberty Tree Tavern near the Park closing time. This way you can spend all day in park then have dinner while everyone else is leaving, also the dinner was more private. One thing I did was called the Disney Chef and ordered a special cake. It was a bit pricy but worth it.
My mother also wore a birthday shirt. And, as someone else mentioned, to the embarrassment of us all held a sign waiting for the parade saying today she was 60. Because she did this they picked her to be in the parade. In advance of parades Disney folks scan ahead for this kind of thing. She had a ball.
The dinner and attention was awesome.

I also made PS at Ohana's for dinner and requested a table by the window - tried to time my PS so that we could watch Wishes again (we will have seen it from inside MK earlier in the week) as we finish dinner on our last night. I also have a PS at Crystal Palace to celebrate both my birthday and our friend's (he's only 26!) on his last night with us - but I warned him that he MUST march with me and Pooh if they do a birthday parade through the restaurant - he said of course he will - I love that kid!!
- we also have PS at Chef Mickey's for the morning of my birthday - are you catching the theme here?- I'm in the midst of my 2nd childhood! Doing a fireworks or illuminations cruise would also be great, we decided against those as we'll have a 4 mos old with us and it might be too cold on the water in Jan. - Hope your hubby has a magical birthday whatever you plan to do!
