I have read that if you mention that someone is celebrating a BD on your resort ressie that some resorts recognize it in some way. Anyone done this at FW? Is it worth mentioning? We are celebrating DD's 6 BD.
Thanks

I think it's hit and miss. I mentioned it when I made our reservation and it was in the notes that my dd was turning 13. They even asked me about it when we checked in. But she didn't get a pin, or anything else that day. We did get her a button to wear at MK that day but nothing special at the fort.

When we went I asked for a note to be put on my ressie when setting up our vacation. When we arrived "Leo" was the CM that checked us in. He asked if anyone in our party was celebrating an anniversary or a birthday. I told him my 7 (to be 8) year old daughter would be. He asked for her favorite character and he had a nice autographed picture of Cinderella sent to the site. She also received autographed cards from Mickey and his friends.
Leo also gave us all our 1st timer pins and a birthday pin for DD!
make sure she wears the pin all the time.... My DD was picked out of numerous crouds and given special attention and thought it was great that complete strangers wished her a happy birthday. She wore the pin all 7 days we were there!! We had to re-write her name on it at least one time!!

whispering canyon brings back fond memories :lmao:

we went for dessert one night. just so happened to be the night before my birthday. it was the two of us, sister and hubby and kids, my parents. well, while we were enjoying our snacks, they had two people stand up and hold some wooden horses. they called out to everyone that it was their birthdays. so, for their birthdays, they were going to ride the wooden horses around the resteraunt, singing happy birthday to each other...

well, dear, sweet brother-in-law had to chime in... he tells the waiter, it will be her birhday tomorrow, what can you do to her? GREAT!!

thanks george, i owe you one (or more)... so, the waiter yells out what had just gone down at our table. then to everyone's surprise says " so, for her birthday tomorrow. george will ride the horse and sing happy birthday to her".. :thumbsup2

oh yeah...... now, that was a birthday never to forget..:rotfl2:

just a word of warning.. watch what you ask for when at disney.. but, it was one of our best trips down there..

I have to agree. We will probably never have a trip like that one again. Everything clicked and to see my DH who has the worst voice ever singing HB while riding a stick horse was hilarious :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

One trip when I made the reservation, the CM asked if anyone was celebrating anything during the trip. I told him yes, we were going for my son's birthday, he asked which character was his favorite. I thought that was a strange question since we were staying in a tent at a partial hookup site. I can see how they can do something if you're in a cabin or in an rv/tt, but not a tent. I didn't say anything to my son, just in case, and nothing came of it so no harm, no foul.

Definitely do get a birthday button in whichever park you're in on the big day, it's pretty fun being told Happy Birthday by so many people. Sometimes I would forget I had the button on until something extra would show up on a meal tray, I would say I didn't order that and they'd tell me Happy Birthday from Mickey.

In 2004 we were down on my birthday, and I got a pin at the Studios. At lunch at 50's Prime Time, I got a huge cupcake with a candle on it, a card with everyone's signature in the room, and everyone sang happy birthday to me. It was pretty cool, and a birthday I will never forget. 4 months later I got deployed.

Last year we went to Whispering Canyon for breakfast on my mothers birthday. I asked the waiter if they could do anything for my mothers birthday. The waitresses all came out and sang Happy Birthday and gave her a pin to where. It really started the day out very special and al day she had complete stranges wishing her a Happy Birthday! It is a very special memory!

this is not birthday related... but, that same trip we took our parents to the hoop dee doo. we had front and center seating. out of the blue, the blond woman came over and plunked her rearend down on my dads lap..:lmao:

not one of us had a camera...

all dad wanted to do was eat and were we cracking up..

Yeah they didn't give buttons or anything at the Fort for my daughter when we went on her birthday. But I am DVC and we went over to my home resort just to pin trade and was talking to one of the guides and she got the pins there. I don't know if there is just not as much hype over there or what. Even when I went to talk to the concierge there to order her a cake to have in our cabin they gave me the phone numbers to Publix and Walmart. I told him "No I want a cake done by a Disney Bakery", he said to me "Oh , but those are expensive".....??????? Me and my husband were talking a joking about it later and said "I guess we are just trailer trash over there...." Come on we are in Disney, if money was that much of an object to worry about an extra 20 or 30 dollars on a cake...come on...we wouldn't be in Disney...

But just make sure you get the button somewhere and they will really hype it up at the parks and restaurants.
