My son will be turing 2, and I will be turning 30 during our trip to WDW this August. We will be staying at the BWV during my son's b-day and VWL for mine. Just curious about any suggestions for making these days special, especially for my son, at the DVC properties. (Not that being at WDW on those days won't already be special)
What have you done for birthdays while staying "at home?":D

Check out Gifts of a lifetime http://www.giftsofalifetime.com . They arrange special events. Tell every restaurant about the birthdays. Most will do something special. If you make PS arrangements, let them know.:smooth:

akghutton, I'll be at WDW at BW for my 30th birthday! I'm very apprehensive about leaving my 20's behind though. But hopefully my husband who will be 31 this year and my baby who will be about 11 months by then will get me through it. I was thinking of either RFC or 'Ohana for my birthday dinner. I know when I was at 'Ohana during my honeymoon they gave you your choice of free dessert if they knew you were there for a special event and had all the honeymooners, anniversary and birthday people stand up and dance (slow) with their significant other while the Don Ho type guy serenaded you with his yukelele (sp?). That might be worth mentioning :)

Try Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. We count this as the best Character Dinner we have ever had. I think it was rated by a magazine (I can't remember which) as the best place to spend a Birthday. We had a great time at this restaurant, and plan on spending some time there in May when DD turns 6.

Not sure about anything special at the resorts, but you can pick up a free "Today is my Birthday" button at City Hall in the Magic Kingdom. Disney must train CMs to look for these things because we were stopped at every corner on my DD's 3rd birthday! One CM even gave us a special pass to go to the front of the line at any Fantasyland attraction.

Hope this helps,
Ryan

I mentioned that it was my daughter's 1st birhtday when I made the reservation and a cast member asked about it when I checked in at VWL, so obviously there was a note on our ressie.

When we got to our room a cast member stopped by and had a "special delivery from Minnie" for my daughter: some balloons and a personalized and autographed birhtday card.

Obviously my 1 yr old didn't really get it, but she loved the "bwoons". And hopefully the card will be a nice keepsake for her.

My DS turned 21 last March while we were at BWV. I mentioned it to them at checkin and on his birthday a balloon was delivered to our villa with a lanyard and DVC pin and an autographed pic of Goofy. Chef Mickeys makes a really big deal of birthdays. So does 1900 Park Fare. They announce it and the characters arrive and everyone sings. We had dinner at Palio for 21st birthday and they brought my DS a huge slice of cake with Happy 21st B'day written in choc. around the rim of plate. All you need to do is mention the birthday when making your ps and tell them when you arrive.
