We are going to WDW the end of Oct. and will be there to celebrate my niece's 11th Bday. Anyone have any good ideas of what we should do to celebrate? Kids ages 8-13. etnamaine.
To me one of the best places to celebrate a birthday is at Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary Hotel. If you let them know ahead of time you can request a cupcake for your niece with a candl and everyone will sing happy birthday. We did this last year for my 12yr old cousin and she loved it. We also had a gift basket sent to her room with some of her favorite items. Hope you have a great time.
Make sure you register her birthday and bring her birth certificate to get her goodies. Either a 1 day park ticket - a $75.00 gift card or certain fast passes for your group
You should try calling (407) WDW-BDAY, there's a bunch of different options for parties and things you can do. Also, if you do any character dining or buffets, I've heard they have gift bags and special things for kids' birthdays you can purchase.
Make sure to stop and get her a Birthday button and maybe some Birthday Mickey ears - usually can get some extra attention from CM's and characters that way.
Here's an idea. You could create your own birthday party within the park. Get some Mickey balloons go to where you want to eat, tie the balloons to the chairs, have your meal, be sure to get a slices of cake for every one and sing happy birthday. Maybe get her a gift or two from the gift shops as well. I think it would be special to get her a Disney princess crown.
Your niece will receive a birthday pin so hopefully, seasoned Disney frequenters will wish her a happy birthday as she walks the park(s).
Best wishes planning such a special trip and welcome to Disboards.
I just thought of something else you could do. When we cruised in '06 on Disney Cruise Line, we decorated our hotel door with magnetic signs. See this thread topic and you'll see what I mean. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=10122776#post10122776 decorating your door is a lot of fun. You can take the idea into your hotel room as well. Decorate the bathroom door (if there isn't a mirror attached to it). The mickey heads are actually Disney paint samples from Home Depot. Alien Lime green is the 'official' color of Disboards and it sometimes is the lowest color sample available. You can take the same idea of decorating your door and carry it over to creating t-shirt designs for your group. Here's someone's shirt designs they created, http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2197116
I think a special gift basket delivered to the hotel would be super-special. There is a lady named Betsy who makes gift baskets and delivers them. She will totally customize it and put in only those things which you wish to have in there for your niece. So your budget would dictate how big or little the basket would be. I have discount codes for her services (half off actually), so send me a PM if you are interested. I'm not affiliated with her personally, but have used her several times and fully endorse her cause she provides a great service.
Also, If you are planni
ng on doing a sit-down meal for her b-day you can order a themed cake for a reasonable fee. (like $15) You order it at the podium when you check in. I have the link somewhere for what is available and would be happy to dig around for it if you think you would want it.
Do adults celebrating their birthday get the 1 day park ticket or gift card or fast pass? As my brother in-law is going with us and its his birthday while we are at disney - its his first ever trip to walt disney world.
Meldobe: Yes, the do, but proof of birth is required (govt.-issued I.D.) and it is suggested that they pre-register on Disney's site for the birthday loot.
