Birthday Question

mods, please move this if necessary but I didn't really know where else to post......My oldest DD turns 8 the day after we leave coming home, but 2 other people on our trip will be having birthdays while we're there. What's Disney's policy on when they will give you a birthday button. Is it only on your birthday or the length of your trip. Of course, we could lie about it, but I didn't really want to set that kind of example for my children. Thanks.

You don't have to lie. When we got one for our DD (it was actually her birthday), they didn't ask if it was her birthday. I just asked for a birthday button and they gave it to me. I think a lot of people celebrate their birthdays at WDW, even if it's not the actual day. If you're celebrating her birthday a couple days early, you can tell them you're celebrating your child's birthday and it will be absolutely true. FWIW, don't expect a whole lot. We had a couple cast members say Happy Birthday princess, but that was it. I've heard about other people having a real fuss made, but we didn't experience that.

We're not expecting alot, but I know a former CM who worked at Disney for about a year. She said of course it was totally up to the CM but she used to give away free ice cream if she was working an ice cream cart. My DD is a attention addict so any extra attention she gets will make her feel so special. That's my only hope for it. I just know if the other 2 people whose birthday is during that time get attention paid to them and she doesn't......the drama queen will come out in a hurry. lol

Its up to you. We took DD for her birthday trip. We let her wear the button whenever she wants to. One day she didnt want to wear it, the others she did. She loved hearing "Happy Birthday ____________" from the Cms. We only celebrated it with a cake and gift one night but since it was a birthday trip turning 7 was a big deal for her.

Being the beginning of October her birthday got glossed over in school with the business of a new year. The teacher forgot to have her hand out her birthday treat since it was on a Monday. Dd was bummed and a little upset. So I had no issue with this trip being her time to shine.
