Birthday presents...Can I "check" them or do I need to carry them?

I am going to put all of my sons birthday presents in a large cardboard box.
Can I "check" the box at the port or do I have carry the box around with me until our room is ready? I will have an extra luggage tag to put on it. It would be much easier to check the box than carry it around with us.

I believe that you should be able to check it with the rest of your luggage. We checked everything, including our filled, wheeled soft-sided cooler!

Speaking of birthdays...we are going on a Jan. 30 cruise and doing both of our sons' birthdays on-board.

What does DCL do for birthdays? Anybody know?

I have decided to put the gifts in an extra suitcase. I just hope they don't handle luggage like the airport, my sons gifts might end up in little pieces.

Dcanoli....I purchased the birthday celebration package through DCL. $30.00 for a celebration cake, banner, and centerpiece for the stateroom. I am sure the cruise is like WDW, just tell them someone in your party has a birthday and they will make the dinner special.
Oh yeah, also call Shirley at Perfect Gift and order a basket, she will put anything you want in it.

We just returned 10/9 and celebrated dh's b-day. I ordered the b-day basket onboard to be delivered the morning of his b-day. It cost $39 & had a mug, keychain, hats, blowers & autograph goofy. Tell your server (& remind him/her often) which nite you wish to celebrate. They bring out a medium square raspberry something cake & sing. The other woman at our table had her son's 5 year b-day on friday & she asked for a regular cake, yellow with white icing and they did it for her - this cake was much better! I beleive she also got a b-day pin from the kid's club.

you can call shirley and ship the presents to her and let her put them in your stateroom for a small fee. it sure would beat carring everything around!
