Can anyone help me brainstorm and think of a good theme for my DD's 9th birthday? It's in October but I need to start figuring out something now so I can get it all planned and set up. I want to think of something different and special. Last year we had her bday party at a Day Spa. The girls got manicures/pedicures and got to have sparkling makeovers done. They were also taught the hula. There were 7 girls and they loved it. Now what could I do this year? HELP?

Do you have a YMCA? Our's does lots of different parties, swimming, soccer, princess, etc. Build a Bear (or like) parties are also very popular. How about an arts & crafts or pottery one? Also, check your local fitness/workout places. Some around here do kids parties (fitness theme) too.

That is funny you asked that. Just today a neighbor around the cornor ids having a BD for her son and it is a carnival theme. They have a ducking booth, some games, a cotton candy machine, popcorn machine and I think it looks like a soft serve ice cream machine. I wished I was invited, looks like fun, I can hear the kids, they are having a ball. I have never seen a party where this was done, the parents went all out. :D

How about a sleepover at a hotel? Some of the hotels near us have a package deal with pizza and a movie.

My DS will be 9 in March and I was reading about this the other day. The one near us is an Embassey Suites with an indoor pool. You also get the free beverages/soda and popcorn for the kids at night and free breakfast the next morning. He thought it was a cool idea but maybe for girls!

How about a tea party theme? The girls could wear fancy hats, dresses, gloves, Mom's jewelry and heals. Maybe they could do each others make-up?

There are some ideas here .

Birthday Express also has cute tea party decorations. :)

I guess cake, ice cream and a scavenger hunt has gone the way of the dinosaurs?

My DD8 loves science so we had a science party. It was a lot of work but it was great. We had Jimmy Neutron decorations. We had stations for the kids to visit with an adult helping/demonstrating at each one. They each got a glow bracelet with one of 5 different colors so we could split them into groups and send them to the different stations. At one we made slime and ice cream. At another, they made fossils. At the third, they played with static electricity (plasma balls, etc) and crushed wintergreen lifesavers in the dark (they spark). At that fourth, they made "potions" in test tubes (they added water to Hi-C mix and drank it to see what it was). At the fifth, they observed anatomy by looking through books, viewmaster and plastic replicas of frog and human organs. They also played skeleton hangman. This party was a lot of work but it was the best party my DD ever had. By the way, my DH and I wore labcoats (borrowed from my uncle who is a pharmacist). My uncle also gave us plenty of test tubes and beakers for decoration. This year she wants to do a Harry Potter theme. My mind is just racing on this one. Good luck with the party.

No ideas, but you've reminded me that I've got to start planning my youngest DD's bday party! She'll be 5 in September, and I'm pretty sure we're getting a Moon Bounce!!

Hollywood!!! Make little Director's clap board invitations. Red carpet, old disney films like Parenthood the original. THey can dress up as characters and the food is easy. You can get little chinese take out boxes and let them fill them up from a candy buffet like at the theatres. Stars are easy to find and cheap.
