Hello, I have a question. My DS birthday is June 10th, he will be 5. This is his first year of preschool, and he wants to invite his whole class, and school ends May 14th. So Me and my DH thought we would let him have his party at the end of May. May 23 would be the best ( weekend after school ends ) but that is also Memorial Day weekend. So here is my question..... Will most people most likely be out of town that weekend? If we have the party on his birthday June 10th or right around will all his friends at school forget by then. Ahhhhh Waht to do, what to do???

I think a lot of people will be out of town. My son's birthday is also in early summer and quite often attendance is affected by vacations. We invite more kids in the hopes that half can make it. Can you have it the weekend before Memorial Day? I know it's early, but you're bound to get more kids.

I would have the party on the weekend closer to his birthday. His friends won't forget and will probably be happy to see each other. In my area most people make plans for Memorial Day weekend (out of town or family activities locally) so I would avoid that weekend.

I share a birthday with your son (though I'm considerably older than 5 :)).
That's a tough one. As a child I had birthday parties and I remember my classmates being there, but I'm sure times have changed.

My son's birthday is May 29th. We never got great attendance at his parties because of Memorial Day. He usually did get ok attendance, though. I know several families who go on vacation as soon as school is out, too. Then again, it might feel weird to your son to have a party so far ahead of his actual birthday.

I don't know. I'd say send the invitations about a week before school gets out and maybe when they RSVP, ask for a phone number so you can give them a reminder call? That's probably not proper etiquette, but I'm not sure how else you can do it.

When my daughter was in K, she got an invitation in school for a classmates birthday party in mid July.So about a month before the party, she was invited and it was fine.
I would send out the invites before school ends, and just have it closer to your son's actual birthday. The kids were all happy to see each other again, too.

my ds b-day is june 20th and i ALWAYS had his party the last weekend when school gets out that way everyone can come. since memorial day is that weekend can you have the it the following weekend? good luck

My DD's bday is june 10th too!!

I would collect addresses and phone numbers from the parents if possible. And send the invites the last week of school and then follow up with a reminder.

Good luck!
