HUGE bummer here. :(

I love to plan and have elaborate themed parties for my kids. Last year for my son we had a Minute to Win It party and it was a huge success. We were planning to do it again w/different games this year. But.. one of the kids who couldn't come last year (I think they told us before knowing the thems, so I'm not accusing them of stealing it) just told us they are having a MTWI party 2 weeks before.

I know we could do the same thing too but I am totally bummed out as many of the kids would be the same.

So.. my son is obsessed w/duct tape as are many of the other kids in his class. Any ideas how to incorporate this into some activities so we could have a DT party?

Well, I know they sell lots of colors of duct tape. You could have the kids do art projects with it; clothes, drawings/paintings, etc.

You could even do games where that involve things that have to stick to something else; I'm having a mind freeze on what those might be. :)

Contests like:
How much weight can each team pick up with duct tape?
Which team can make the largest duct tape ball in ___ minutes?

And there are lots of instructions on line to make duct tape wallets.

Really?? If you want a MITI party then do it.I don't understand...you had one last year and just because someone else is doing it 2 weeks before your son's party you can't go ahead and do it again?

Make duct tape wallets. I am sure you can find the directions online. They are pretty easy!

My son and his fiends used to make duct tape shoes--Duck Martens!

If the kids enjoy "Minute to Win it", who cares if someone else has the same type of party?

If you go with Duct Tape, I agree with the wallet suggestions. DD made one of those in school for Father's Day. It's pretty cool!

If anyone does duct tape wallets...make sure the inside is *taped enough* so there is no sticky part showing. I have a HS kid that every day comes through the lunch line and pulls her sticky quarters out to pay!! LOL!!

I know I can still do MTWI..

but I don't want to steal the other child's thunder, and like I said I want to be original. :) This boy is in my son's class and it will be many of the same kids.

Not sure why people have to pass judgement on my decision when I'm just asking for ideas.

Anyway.. thanks.. my son and his friends have already made tons of wallets so I think that is out. (Love the shoe idea..)

We're trying to think of games/activities now that we can incorporate duct tape.. like a 3 legged race, or making a contraption so an egg won't break when we drop it from the 2nd floor. We've come up with some things but are hoping to find some more. Thanks to everyone for your ideas.. keep them coming..
