Birthday Ideas for soon to be 8 year old??

Her birthday is July 3, we're booked at the Poly - when we made reservations, they asked if it was anyone's bday and they asked what her fav. character was - I'm assuming they will do something?? They also told me there is a pin that we can get for her to wear at the park that day - I'm assuming it's at either the pin place in MK or the reservation place up front?? Does anyone else have any fun ideas to make it extra special for her? She'll be 8 - we have reservations at Whispering Canyon for dinner (her request). Her favorite character is Minnie - we have reservations at Chef Mickey's on the 4th for breakfast (It's supposed to have Minnie??)

Hi! I just wanted to mention that the resort may not do anything. If you want to guarantee that her birthday is acknowledged, you are better off pre-planning and ordering a gift basket.
I just wanted to mention that we just celebrated both our sons birthdays last week. Beside the buttons at the parks, we bought a birthday hat at the park. The hat looked like a cake and the candles lit up if you pressed a button. I have a picture of the hat, but don't know how to post it on the board. The kids got loads of happy birthday wishes from the cm's at the parks.
We also ordered a gift basket from feralpeg(from our beloved Dis boards). The basket was a big hit! It was loaded with candy and a couple of plush animals.
I have a picture of the basket too, but can't figure out how to post it. Sorry.

For the parks, like MK, I think you can check in at the Town Hall and get a birthday badge. Some CMs in the park will usually see it and say "Happy B-Day" to her. She might even get some special treatment from the characters. I've read posts from people who've done this and say it's worth the time.

Both are great ideas! I know exactly what hat you are talking about - not sure if she'll wear it or not (she seems to wear hats for about 15 minutes, then hands them to Daddy for the remainder of the day. LOL) I'm kind of new here - who is feralpeg?? That is an excellent idea!! Thank you!

I really don't expect anything for free - If it happens, great, but I intend to make sure she has a great birthday myself! The gift basket and hat are really great - also she has a friend from home who is going to meet us on her birthday.

Last year, our family went to WL for my daughter's birthday. The day I checked in, I mentioned it to the CM that it was her birthday in a couple of days. She asked who was her favorite character and how to spell her name. The day of her birthday we went to MK and when we returned in the afternoon there was a 5X7 Photo of Mickey Mouse in a WL card that had her name on it and signed by the Mouse himself with a balloon attached on her bed. She thought it was the best thing. At breakfast that morning, we ate at the Crystal Palace. All of the characters signed a card for her. Great memories.

Have it noted on your reservation. When we checked in at the GF the CM asked who Amy was, said there was someone wanting to speak to her. Handed her the phone, Goofy wished her a happy birthday. On her actual birthday we returned to the room to find signed photos from Cinderella wishing Amy a happy 8th and Kelly a magical stay. Also a GF chocolate bar. We were also upgraded to lagoon view at check in so she could have a sastle view!
