we are going to disney during the first week of october. it will be sisters birthday while we are there!!!! i am looking for ways to make it fun! mostly for me and at her expense! we love to act like general fools and embarass ourselves so she knows that i will try something. this is sisters first trip to the world! please help me!!! where do i take her to eat? i was thinking of the prime time cafe? any other suggestions are welcome. we are also going to MNSSHP and hoping that it isnt on the night of her birthday!

I am going to be in Disney on my birthday also (September 2nd) and am wondering what I should do. I think maybe i'll take myself out to the California Grill (with my seven year old daughter anyway). Or treat us at another nice restaraunt.

Be sure to stop at guest services at each park and get a birthday button. CM's often do or say something to the birthday person. We were there for my 50th which was during spring break and quite busy. The CM on pirates set our family aside (there were five of us, 3 adults and two teens) and gave us our own boat. At dinner at the castle I got a free dessert and a birthday certificate as well as a great table for the fireworks. I only had a button at MK but you can get them at all the parks.

Hi,

My :earsboy: and I went last July for our 40th b-day. Definitely get the Today is my B-day buttons. We got sang to by the Barber Shop Quartet on Main Street, a free dessert at Pecos Bills in Frontier Town, everyone we past said hello, charecters even stopped to say Happy B-day. For breakfast we went to chef mickeys and they gave us cupcakes and placemats.

He also proposed half way through our trip so taht made it very special too!!!

Enjoy!!!

Hi. We just celebrated my Mom's birthday at the Garden Grill. It was a surprise for her and they handled it beautifully. The day before our dinner I called the Epcot dining number and requested a cake.

If you are at Epcot for the birthday celebration be sure to ask for a button, the one she had from there is different from the one at the MK. Can't remember exact details on it as I only saw it for a few minutes. The silly girl didn't wear it.

Also we bought her a birthday hat. It looks like a cake. I know they sold it at DownTown Disney and I'm positive we saw it elsewhere because we had to keep talking her out of buying it (for when we celebrate brithdays at home). I believe it played music. I never did find the button that night and again that was the last I saw of it since we came home the next day.

Another thing we did was bring our own party supplies. At the Garden Grill the napkins are really a roll of paper toweling on a stick on your table. Even before we knew we were celebrating a b-day we had decided to bring our own Disney napkins (find at party supply shops like party giant). The server always tells us to set the table so we did with napkins, placemats (coloring pages) and place cards. Hey we like bringing a smile to the CMs faces since they make our days.

In addition since I had ordered a cake we also brought making dessert size paper plates making the napkins.

It's all how you want to make it. It wasn't a big deal to us dragging enough napkins and plates for 4 plus we also brought Mickey ear party hats (think we found them at parti giant too) because they were flat opposed to the cone party hats.

Happy planning!!!! It's the best place to celebrate a b-day.

I got one for my DBF's birthday a few weeks ago and kept it a surprise. After dinner at ESPN, we strolled over to the boats where we sprung it on him!!! He was in shock!! It was decorated with birthday banners and balloons so everyone from shore was wishing him a Happy Birthday!!! If you can get a cruise, there are usually other DISers who'd love to join you and help with the cost!!! :teeth:

hi all:wave:
we are going to be there on me and dh birthdays in october::yes::
how much notice do you need to give to order a cake,dh birthday is 5 days after we arrive can i order it when we get there or is it better to do it before

thanks eve:D

I just celebrated my bday down at the world last Sunday. I didn't get a pin or anything (DH can be boring sometimes! hehe) but he did treat to me a fabulous dinner at the California Grill during Wishes. Dessert came out with a candle on top and everything.

Back at our room...the AKL concierge had dropped off a cake and party hats for us...they had decorated the table with confetti and streamers too. Such a surprise. Of course - we were still stuffed from our dinner...but the cake was adorable...and yummy.

I celebrated my 35th birthday at the World last Labor Day Weekend....we made it a weekend-long event! When I made my PS's before the trip, I told the CM that it was my birthday and she noted it on each PS. We ate at Crystal Palace, Boma, Cape May, Le Cellier, Garden Grill, and O'hana....at each I was brought out a special dessert after the meal (sometimes it was a cupcake, sometimes it was different) and often there was a song or a card signed by the Characters or CMs. I also wore the birthday buttons at each park, and I felt like a princess with so many "Happy Birthday" wishes...probably 20 a day, easily. It was such a fun weekend and really made my birthday special!!

I also received a card with picture, signed by Mickey, along with a balloon and Magical Moment certificate upon our check-in to the ASMo that weekend.

hi stinkerbelle,ksgirl:wave:
sounds like you both had a great time for your birthday,my dh won't wear a birthday button and don't want me to tell it is his birthday either:rolleyes: but i will wear a b/button(my birthday is the day before his)did you tell the staff at check-in about your birthday and do you have to pay to have something done in your room,dh may just be able to cope with that:teeth:

thanks eve:D

uktigger~

When I made my reservation for our room, I mentioned that it would be my birthday to the CM on the phone. She took care of all the rest, and asked who my favorite character was.

If you've already made your reservation, you may be able to call before and have it noted on your account....or since you are overseas and might not want to make another call, you should mention upon your check in. I do not know what would happen in that case, but it is worth a try!

I hope you have a magical birthday trip!!

thanks for your quick reply::yes::
we will be celebrating our b/days 5 and 6 days after we arrive will that be enough time for reservations or will it be best to ring before and how long before would i have to ring(i don't mind ringing from over here)thanks again

Well, you haven't said if you have made your Resort reservations yet. If you have not yet, them you can simply tell the CM who takes your Resort reservation over the phone that it will be your birthday during your stay. When to make your reservation depends on where you would like to stay and how busy a time of year it is. If it is a busy time of year, I would make Resort reservations as soon as you've decided. I am assuming, of course, that you are booking all your plans yourself and not using a travel agent.

Have you decided which Resort you'd like to stay at?

sorry:rolleyes:
i have already made arrangements we are staying at all star movies from 11th oct to 25th and yes i have done this with a travel agent

Then I don't know if you can have your travel agent call to make this "additional" comment on your reservation, or if you can do it yourself by calling Disney reservations. I know you used to be able to fax room requests within four days of your arrival to your resort, and that would be a time that you could also mention it's your birthday. However, I do not know if they are still accepting room requests. It still couldn't hurt to mention it's your birthday (or will soon be) when you check in.

Sorry, I don't seem to be of much help :)

ksgirl
don't be sorry you are all a great help on here::yes::
i will find out if i can send a fax if not it will just have to wait untill we arrive,at least it's not our birthdays as soon as we get there,we will have a couple of days to sort something out

thanks again

About the birthday hat...we are part of a set of three couples who travel toghther from time to time. Last October we were all at WDW and one of us was celebrating a birthday. We all pitched in and bought a birthday hat, looks like a cake and plays music. The birthday boy had to wear it for dinner at the CA Grill and the next one to have a birthday had to wear it out to dinner for his birthday, have his picture taken, and then send the hat to the next birthday person. It will travel in our group from birthday to birthday. (I'm next!)
