My daughter will be celebrating her 10th birthday during our upcoming stay at Wilderness Lodge. Should I have this noted on our reservation or should I fax it to the room assigner? I hoped maybe she would get an autographed card from Mickey. If we wanted a birthday cake for her who would we contact?

There's a pretty hot discussion about this very subject and the WL on another thread, so let me say first..please don't expect them to do anything special. You can note it on the reservation, but don't be disappointed if they don't do anything.

My suggestion is to inquire at guest services when you check in about the photo. I'm not sure, but I think they have a "supply" of character photos at the WL so it probably wouldn't be a problem getting one. If they indeed have them and you want to be sure your daughter gets a "surprise" photo, you could just slip it in the room yourself.

If it's no big deal one way or the other, just note it on the reservation and see what happens. Please keep in mind though that there are probably dozens of guests who have birthdays every day at the WL alone, so they may or may not do anything.

I have no experience with ordering birthday cakes at WDW, so perhaps another poster can be more helpful as to who you would contact to purchase one.

I had read the other thread, I wasn't expecting anything grand at all :) I'll just mention the fact when we check in and see if anything comes of it. We are not sure if we are driving or flying yet so I don't know if I could pop out and get her a cake.

I am sure that Disney provides birthday cakes if you order one. I would just call WL and ask. Hope your daughter has a special birthday full of Disney magic and pixie dust. :D

We are so excited to be going to WDW during her birthday. I think it is so special.

My husband and I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge last year for his Birthday. I mentioned when I made the reservations that we would be celebrating his Birthday. I did not ask to have it noted on the reservations or ask for anything special. When we checked in there was a signed Birthday card from Donald Duck and chocalate. We thought this was a very nice surprise.

I was just at WL last weekend and on the room service menu, it mentions that you can order a birthday cake with 24 hrs advance notice. So you will definitely be able to get one easily, wihthout calling ahead, unless you want it waiting on checkin or within the fist 24 hrs of your visit. Also, when we ate at Whispering Canyon (evening) I had mentioned that it was my son's birthday when making PS, and when we checked in at the restaurant it had been noted on the computer. So our waitress brought him a little cake (serves about 2) and everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to him.

I had forgotten about that! We ate at Whispering Canyon several times and every time there were at least one or two people celebrating birthdays or some other special event. I'd definitely mention it if you eat there, they really go out of their way to do fun things for the birthday people.

I made mention of asking about the autographed cards because we each got one of our favorite character so I know they must have a supply of them. I had dealt with a CM who used to post on the WL thread and she had it done without me asking so I imagine they do it quite often.

As stated above, there's information when you check in about ordering a cake with 24 hrs. notice. They have a tiny (? 6") one-layer chocolate fudge cake that is unbelievably, sinfully, decadent. It easily serves 6 because it's so rich! And, they sell Haagen Daz ice cream in the store, if you want to be extra decadent.

I'd call in-room dining about the cake you can order 24 hours in advance.

We saw someone who had ordered one of these and it was quite large, looked fresh and was delivered to their room. I believe it was around $30. I thought the price sounded fair for a freshly made cake from Disney.

We had 2 of the little cakes through concierge and thought they were awful. They did seem nice and we were grateful for them but I think we just hit it at the wrong time.

...makes ressies for WC and, by all means, mention that it is her birthday. Believe me, it will be an experience not soon forgotten!
(If possible, ask for the server named Jeffro!!)
