If it were your birthday, and you liked to drink, which would you pick?

I've gotten buzzed off those pitchers of Sangria at HDDR many a time!! :lmao: It's tasty and best of all - its all you can drink! They just keep those pitchers coming - its made for some funny boat rides back!

I've also tried drinking around the world. It was fun picking and choosing, but I perhaps should've been a bit more cautionary. Not only did it end up being quite pricey but I felt quite ill before even really got a chance to feel quite buzzed. Shandy + champagne + sake + mimosa + Tsing Tao = OY VEY!! Sick tummy!! I'm sure if you were to stick to say, all beer, it would work a LOT better!!

I vote both, too -- just maybe on two different days. Maybe HDD for birthday eve and Drink Around The World for his bday :drinking1

Well, the only thing is, we are arriving on his birthday - don't know what time yet. Thought we could do HDD that night at 9:30.

One complicating factor - our kids will be with us. They are 17, 19 and 22. One is drinking age but we don't hang out and drink with our kids, or at least we never have before. Maybe we could do HDD the night of his birthday, since it's more of a family atmosphere. And then the next afternoon/evening we can let the kids explore on their own while we drink around the world...

I would vote drinking around the world. Heck, I'm planning that for our next trip, and it isn't anyone's birthday.

HDDR!!!!! You will thank me when you don't waste a day of your vacation recooperating. Here is why:

We tried the drink around the world on our tenth anniversary and i have vivid memories (that is right up til France :guilty:) of it being a blast to a point. Boy i was too old for that :lmao: . If U do it do it small and stick with one type of beverage because my DH does not have fond memories of getting me onto the bus and back over to the WL.

We did a kind of eat/drink thing where we shared a snack in several places and had at least one drink to share or for each at each country.

We started in Mexico and had a churro (sp?) and each of us had a margarita.
In Norway we split a beer and some weird dessert that I just remember thinking weird but liking. Dh hated the beer so I finished it.
In China I think we had some form of wine (I remember stopping but not the drink) and an egg roll. You guessed it DH hated it so I finished it.
In Germany it was beer again and some struesel (sp?).
Italy was wine and no food.
America was beer.
Japan was sake (I think that was what caused the later halucinations :rotfl: ).
It was in Morocco that I began collecting friends. Three guys who were doing the drink around the world joined me for a beer (at this point DH decided to stop drinking or shall we say tasting). The new friends decided to come with us to France.
In between France and Morocco I took a picture of a CM who was selling the lighted toys that look like light sabers. She was all bundled up with some sort of blanket over her head and draped around her shoulders because she was cold. For some reason I decided she looked like the little guys who first sold R2D2 to Luke Skywalkers uncle or so I apparently told her that several times. She gave me her email address to send her the pic and then posed for another pic with me and my new Morrocan friends (the ones I collected in Morroco - not actual Morocans). Did I mention my DH is a saint for putting up with me and my new three guy pals?
Anyway we were off to France for a glass of champaign (I think it was champaign because France was a blur.)
We parted ways with our new friends at the WS entrance that heads to BC and continued to England where not only did I have a beer but one of those huge yards of beer. I also treated my DH to the joy of listening to me debate with the nice beer salesman about American Politics. Never never mix yards of beer (and multiple other things like "special sake") with politics.
DH says he put his foot down with that one and would not let me have another drink in Canada. Instead he said we will just stop and you can finish your yard of beer there so you can say you did drink in Canada.

At the bus stop I sat on the curb and rocked back and forth singing "When You Wish Upon A Star (which is my out of it song - sang it once when hypnotized in Vegas too). When we got off the bus at WL I hid from someone in the bushes, can't explain why (Dh again not amused). DH got me to our room and tucked me in. An hour later while he was watching some sports recap show I got up and started to walk to the bathroom swinging my arms about and saying who put these racks here (I was dreaming I was in a very crowded clothes store and couldn't get through the multiple big round racks of clothes. I proceeded to get sick  and then lay down on the bathroom floor. Yep Ms bring your own sheets and pillows and never walk around a hotel room without slippers or socks laid down on the bathroom floor of a hotel and went to sleep. DH put me back to bed three times but on the third time said "fine sleep there".

Needless to say I didn't feel well enough to even get out of our room until 1 the next day and it was a rough rough day. I of course blame the sake (don't know why the sake but that is who I blame  ) and I blame the mixing of different alcohols too. I mean it can't be my fault can it?

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Hysterical. Your DH was lucky that you got sick once you got back to your room. Margaritas!:thumbsup2

MNRMommy, that was great! What a cautionary tale...

I've heard it's best to stick to "beer around the world" :drinking1 or break up the "drink around the world" into at least 2 separate days, because it's too many varieties of alcohol -- and you should never mix the grain and the grape. And avoid the sake at all costs :crazy2:
