Hi, Is anyone out there doing the "What will you celebrate" in 2009. Our son turns 14 during our trip. We have the whole day planned, but, trying to figure out whether to do the free ticket for the day or the fastpass option. Hollywood Studios is where we will be and we LOVE both Rock N Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror but can't think of what else is there to fast pass.

Toy Story Mania will be a must have for Fast Pass at HS. If you havent been on it - it's AWESOME!

We'll be there in July to celebrate our dd's 10th b'day. We were wondering the same thing. Looks like our decision will be made depending on how many guests we have with us in the park on her b'day. I believe that the fast passes are good for the b'day celebrant and 5 guests. We might be a party of 7. If that's the case, then the fast pass option, might not be worth it for us.

We have one Jan 1 and one Jan 2 coming up. :thumbsup2

Trouble is, we have 12 so the fast pass is in question-plus which parks to pick. Maybe the Gift certificate after all.

I wish they would tell us what rides are allowed at each park, I assume it is once for each as well.

what is the fast pass option?
Passholders have three options to pick from since they already have park admission:
  • A special birthday FASTPASS® badge+ for select attractions at the Theme Park you visit on your birthday; or
  • A Birthday Fun Card in an amount equal to the price of a 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket* for you to use on your birthday at select participating locations at the Walt Disney World® Resort for select merchandise, recreation, or other gated attractions or for Disney's PhotoPass® on-site services; or
  • A 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket for you to use any time until your next birthday
*Ticket price at gate, excluding tax. Adults receive card in the amount of an adult ticket; children (ages 3-9) receive card in the amount of a child ticket. For terms and conditions of the card and details on participating locations, click here.

+The number of birthday FASTPASS badges issued is limited and may not be available after 11am. Valid Theme Park admission required. FASTPASS for birthday celebrant and up to 5 members of his/her party.

Is the Fastpass badge good only for the birthday person or is it for the whole party? If it is only for one then I can't see how it will be much of a perk since everyone else will need to get their own fastpasses the usual way. Also, is it good for just one trip on each FP ride or is good all day, as many times as you want to use it?

That said, the badge would be worth it for Toy Story Mania alone! Alas, we won't be traveling to WDW on any of our birthdays in '09 so we won't be able to take advantage of it.

I think it's only once each ride, but who know's?

We are going over my birthday next August. Since we already have multi-day passes, I thought I'd take the gift card. We always buy something so why not use it since it would be worth more than any one day off my multi-day ticket.

I think you're right. In my mind, I picture these birthday fast passes as being the same thing as the lanyards with fast passes given out during the Year of a Million Dreams. We got one of those for MGM last year and there was a tear away tag for each of the main fastpass rides in the park (8 in total I think.)

Hopefully we'll start hearing in January from people who pick the fast pass option. That's what I'm planning on picking for now as we'll be at WDW for my birthday in March and at Disneyland in CA for my DH's birthday next August.

We are planning on going for DH's birthday in September. Hopefully BLT will be ready by then. I am a little confused now on this birthday celebration thing. I thought that you could register for free admission on your birthday and that was pretty much the gist of it. I do not understand about the fast pass part of it. Am I missing something?

The fast pass and gift card options are for those who have Annual Passes and can't use the one-day admission. Instead, they will be allowed to pick one of the other options if they visit on their birthday...provided they registered in advance. I'm not sure if the extra options are available as a choice (instead of the 1-day ticket) to those who do not have APs.

I think the FP option is a good one if you are there during a busy time. During the slower times, when FPs are not as necessary, I think I'd pick the gift card instead.
